Read over the transcripts and evidence info on the Josh Duggar case... dude was not only a molester, but into hurtcore which, unfortunately, is exactly what you think it is. One of the titles listed is so infamous for breaking the hardened detectives who have had to watch it that, knowing he was found with it? I'm wondering how much is being hidden about this family. Edit: this comment is getting upvotes... please don't go looking for the name. The descriptions are out there... it's a King in Yellow. Knowing a person could not only do what was even described in clinical details but have a market to sell tapes of it will have you staring into the middle distance even if you're completely stable. I'm not trying to be the 'edgy reddit dude', I grew up in the internet gore era and have worked cleaning crime scenes, the concepts expressed were bad enough to make me drink hard to sleep for a bit. Edit 2: Thanks mods for killing the edgy folks deciding to 'prove me wrong'. I legit cannot state further that this is mind poison. There is no honor in seeking it out. There is nothing but a deep and gnawing void to stare into that makes you question humanity.

They absolutely should be on TV, but mostly the true crime variety.

They were (are?) the poster children for the Quiverfull movement. I would wonder if any of the people in that movement are doing some soul searching right now, but they’re insane fundamentalist nuts so I know they’re not.

The most vocal puritanical crusaders tend to have the most skeletons in their closet, so if anything this seems pretty on brand.

Growing up around people who didn't think twice and thought it was admirable for a family to have so many kids, it never sat right with me. No two parents can possibly raise that many kids the way kids should be, and I felt so terrible for the older siblings who basically couldn't have childhoods because they were expected to be surrogate parents. That said, I'd give anything to not have my suspicions confirmed in this way. Those girls deserved better, and I hope this will be the end of similar cases with the family.

I would not be surprised if it was one of the women because sexual abuse can come from anyone, but I almost *expect* it from a man in that type of Christian culty environment.   The stuff they practice and preach basically tells the girls to be subservient and they tell the boys they are in charge over them. Breeding ground for pedophilia, and unfortunately mostly men because they are the ones in authority. 

The daughters raised their younger siblings. As soon as a new baby was weaned mama handed it over to the real mom/sister and started on a new baby. The daughters have cribs and toddler beds in their room, one room, because they were now responsible for the upbringing of the baby. Cleaning, shopping, cooking, diapers, home schooling (really, no education,) and everything else fell to the daughters.

It's more to do with them being part of a weird cult. Cults tend to have much higher rates of child abuse because of the insular culture and whatnot.

The older kids end up basically raising the younger ones. All because Pa Dugger couldn’t pull out of a driveway.

It's actually extremely common that young boys who are molested go on to molest a younger sibling or other child. Like it's considered a textbook response. Girls who are molested are more likely to turn to self harm but boys often pass it on.

The cousin put out a book and she has details in it about how her the grandfather was accused of molestation. Her mother wasn’t allowed alone with him and she wasn’t allowed alone with him as a child. I don’t know about these girls but considering that JIm Bob and Michelle didn’t protect them from their brother and basically blamed them…

It’s a fundamentalist Christian household. Even if nothing weird went on growing up, those kinds of attitudes towards sex can lead to some screwed up behavior.

They sent them all to this Gothard teen discipline troubled teen facility where there was rampant exploitation of those involved.

I always figured that things were much worse with his poor sisters because if they were willing to admit that he was touching the girls what was he actually doing that he didn't admit and probably to far more than his sisters..
