Not to be confused with Josh Duggar, from the same family, who also did something similar

Read over the transcripts and evidence info on the Josh Duggar case... dude was not only a molester, but into hurtcore which, unfortunately, is exactly what you think it is. One of the titles listed is so infamous for breaking the hardened detectives who have had to watch it that, knowing he was found with it? I'm wondering how much is being hidden about this family. Edit: this comment is getting upvotes... please don't go looking for the name. The descriptions are out there... it's a King in Yellow. Knowing a person could not only do what was even described in clinical details but have a market to sell tapes of it will have you staring into the middle distance even if you're completely stable. I'm not trying to be the 'edgy reddit dude', I grew up in the internet gore era and have worked cleaning crime scenes, the concepts expressed were bad enough to make me drink hard to sleep for a bit. Edit 2: Thanks mods for killing the edgy folks deciding to 'prove me wrong'. I legit cannot state further that this is mind poison. There is no honor in seeking it out. There is nothing but a deep and gnawing void to stare into that makes you question humanity.

Josh used to work at Family Research Council, a DC think tank/lobbying firm. He quit right before his Ashley Madison scandal came out.

Is this true detective? I can't tell if this is serious or I'm being slow
335
Taraxian Mar 19, 2026 +315
OP is calling it "a King in Yellow" as in something that will curse you if you merely see it -- The King in Yellow is a horror short story about a fictional play with the same title where simply reading it drives you insane and actually performing it summons the evil god the play is about, and the evil cult in True Detective S1 seems to worship that same god because they were inspired by the story

seen true detective s1 over 20 times, never knew that was the inspiration. i will read the short story

Nah. It's terrific. I haven't seen it that many times, but I won't knock someone who has. The single-cut scene in the projects is probably the best action scene in a show this century. And the dialogue is top notch.

grimedogone Mar 19, 2026 +197
There are a lot of lynchpins that could have prevented a lot of this, but the one I always go back to is Thurgood Marshall retiring early because he thought Bill Clinton was going to lose in ‘92. If he had held on (and he lived just long enough that he could have), Bill Clinton could have replaced him with another liberal. Without Clarence Thomas, Bush v. Gore doesn’t happen, Citizens United doesn’t happen, f****** District of Columbia v. Heller doesn’t happen. Election doomers will be the death of us all.
197
math-yoo Mar 19, 2026 +127
RBG didn’t retire. Here we are.
127
grimedogone Mar 19, 2026 +99
Shitty as that was, RBG retiring in 2014 wouldn’t actually affect nearly as much as Thurgood Marshall retiring in 1993 would have. Rehnquist and Scalia would’ve been toothless, and if Bush v. Gore went the other way, Alito and Roberts never sit on the Court at all.

The sad part is it literally is the best of times and the worst of times. When you go digging into history you'll see that people were always this horrible... just that the ability to travel quickly and technology to spread shit we see it all in 8k every f****** day if we don't cleanse our minds occasionally. Serial killers, abuse, the horrors of war, slavery... it's always been here, but these days we get to see a small horrible glimpse every once in awhile. Generational stories for a small town are now daily on the feed. It never stops coming, and if you missed it the first time? There's always the repost.

Yeah, I grew up on the early days of the Internet so I’m used to stuff like Funkytown cartel videos but I was exposed to some of that evil c*** when I was working with a lawyer, putting together some exhibits for a case. Holy shit, it is such a horrible feeling having to read and see some of that stuff even when you’re doing it to make sure the person who’s responsible for it goes to prison.
158
gamageeknerd Mar 19, 2026 +64
Growing up on post 2k internet was wild. High definition videos of executions being posted to video game and movie forums. I don’t even want to imagine the terabytes of fucked up shit that gets put online every day.
64
Awkward_Bison_267 Mar 19, 2026 +187
You have to think about what kinds of weird shit he was watching to build up a tolerance to that point.
187
AShellfishLover Mar 19, 2026 +311
The fact that he has *that* video means he was very very deep as apparently it wasn't exactly shared around even in those circles. The guy who made it was essentially buried under the jail in the Phillipines. A place where money can buy freedom or a blind eye way cheaper than you would expect. Imagine a crime bad enough that a country that has a catch and release program for moneyed monsters gives double life + 129 years. Why the f*** does some Christian fundamentalist have this tape? Edit: corrected faith descriptor.
311
AnotherSoulessGinger Mar 19, 2026 +258
Just a quick correction, the Duggars aren’t Mormon but fundamentalist Christian in a very small, mostly home based church. The [Institute in Basic Life Principles or IBLP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_in_Basic_Life_Principles) was founded by another sex pest who was probably also a pedo. Shiny Happy People on Amazon is a great doc for more info on their cult.

AnotherSoulessGinger Mar 19, 2026 +155
Also, as far as how Josh got to that specific CSAM… it was in the works for a long time. He was the “computer kid” of the family and had his own computer room. I’d suspect most of his siblings and parents were luddites and didn’t know what he was getting into in his teens. He was accused of watching p*** while driving shortly before or after getting married. Also, after he was caught abusing his siblings (as a teen), he was given a “talking to” by an elder in their church/family friend that was later found out to be an abuser. It is speculated that this elder “taught” Josh to look at p*** instead of committing abuse. Eventually, it lead to him viewing TONS of CSAM.

34
AShellfishLover Mar 19, 2026 +22
Yeah, was aware of that part but for some reason always thought it was a Mormon offshoot like the FLDS.
22
AnotherSoulessGinger Mar 19, 2026 +30
There were a bunch of shows with religious nuts and a bunch of kids. Maybe you were thinking of the Sister Wives family. They were Mormon in IUB or IAB, I think it was. Their sect is a bit less fundamentalist than FLDS but allows for polygamy which the mainstream Mormons do not.

Mega MAGA influencer Dom Lucre posted stills from that video on Twitter. It took about 48 hours for his account to get suspended, which means that all the automated filters had been turned off, because any automated filter would recognize that video. Then Elon personally reinstated him, saying no one but the moderation team saw the images, even though we could all see with our own eyes that Dom had gotten 3 million monetized views. [This profile of Dom in the New York Times](https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/06/technology/x-right-wing-influencer.html) does not bother to mention that he posted pictures of an infant being tortured*, after putting his own watermark on them.* He also posted them on Instagram. They were still there two days after he got his Twitter account back, then they disappeared.

Before I knew anything, Dom kept showing up in my Twitter feed. I organically grew to hate him, as he non-stop always posted completely fabricated political content. He was one of the few people I took the time to mute out of my feed. I think the second person was Ian Miles Cheong.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by "it's a king in yellow"? I haven't encountered that particular reference before.
105
AShellfishLover Mar 19, 2026 +329
The King in Yellow is a short story collection by Robert Chambers. It's about a Lovecraftian mind virus: a play that, when read, drives the person insane.
329
Priordread Mar 19, 2026 +263

>hurtcore Me: hm, not heard of that.. >Hurtcore" is a term for an extreme, illegal form of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) that involves severe violence, torture, and degradation of children. It is a highly illicit category of content, often associated with heinous, orchestrated abuse designed to inflict maximum harm. OK, guess I’ll stop researching that.

This is just awful. I don’t know how I had never heard of Scully or the video you’re referring to before. But, I did some quick googling and I can’t even continue reading into it. I’m afraid I’ll find something I don’t want to see. It’s just scary to me that there are people out there who enjoy that stuff. My heart just breaks for all those victims. I’m also really upset about Josh Duggars case. For some reason I thought he received way longer of a sentence. But he’s going to be released by 2032. I am so confused. I guess I just feel like that is not nearly enough time. He should go away forever considering what he did to his own sisters, and what was found on his computer! Not to mention his other non-family victim. What is going on in this family? I read that Josh started this by the time he was a pre-teen??? I wonder if they have looked into older family members. That behavior doesn’t typically start from nowhere at that young of an age.

Jim Bob's niece, Amy Duggar King, wrote a book where she described her Grandpa Duggar as a predator who once tried to kill her mom. This article also mentioned he doled out a lot of "corporal punishment" on his kids... The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I went down the Josh Duggar rabbit hole a while ago, which led me down the Scully rabbit hole. Even just googling this stuff makes me feel like I should be put on an FBI watchlist. This is the kind of stuff that makes me wish I believed in hell because prison seems too lenient of a punishment for them.

The Duggar family built their brand on Christian family values while covering up multiple instances of child abuse. TLC knew about Josh's history and kept filming, now another brother is arrested. This family should never have been on TV and the network is complicit.

“Real” Christians should be more mad about this.
1359
CoconutBangerzBaller Mar 19, 2026 +566
Problem is, in America "real" Christianity is about saying how Christian you are while following through on none of the teachings. The Christians who would be mad about this are the people that they call "woke" Christians.
566
tristan-chord Mar 19, 2026 +170
Can confirm. Agnostic and barely a Christian now, but the church I still go nowadays housed and fed the homeless and marched for trans rights. We're definitely "false Christians" according to many.
170
MidnightIAmMid Mar 19, 2026 +86
It was the first time I realized that something was rotten about "Christianity" in this country. So many reactions when it initially happened that 1. the girls were lying 2. even if they weren't, we need to pray for JOSH (not them-Josh) or 3. "boys are always trying to cop a feel or get some so this isn't abnormal" like what the f*** is wrong with you people. Those three reactions dominated how every Christian around me reacted.

Growing up around people who didn't think twice and thought it was admirable for a family to have so many kids, it never sat right with me. No two parents can possibly raise that many kids the way kids should be, and I felt so terrible for the older siblings who basically couldn't have childhoods because they were expected to be surrogate parents. That said, I'd give anything to not have my suspicions confirmed in this way. Those girls deserved better, and I hope this will be the end of similar cases with the family.

I would not be surprised if it was one of the women because sexual abuse can come from anyone, but I almost *expect* it from a man in that type of Christian culty environment.   The stuff they practice and preach basically tells the girls to be subservient and they tell the boys they are in charge over them. Breeding ground for pedophilia, and unfortunately mostly men because they are the ones in authority.
73
PaulFThumpkins Mar 19, 2026 +73
When Josh molested his sisters the parents covered it up and told the girls men are just like that and they have to forgive. Their culture is basically synonymous with grooming.
73
Figsnbacon Mar 19, 2026 +23
I always thought it was gross that Dad Duggar kept getting his poor wife pregnant. I am Catholic and know some very devout families with 5 to 7 children (we are supposed to practice NFP Natural Family Planning) and even they are able to keep themselves from multiplying like rabbits. Something is wrong with a man like Jim Bob Duggar who lacked the self control and respect for his wife’s health and wellbeing, like some sort of sexual dysfunction that he must have passed on to his sons.
23
Alis451 Mar 19, 2026 +10
> who lacked the self control In their religious sect the number of kids is intentional, like Quiverfull the intent is to literally outbreed the other peoples out of existence; think Idiocracy, but on purpose.

The daughters raised their younger siblings. As soon as a new baby was weaned mama handed it over to the real mom/sister and started on a new baby. The daughters have cribs and toddler beds in their room, one room, because they were now responsible for the upbringing of the baby. Cleaning, shopping, cooking, diapers, home schooling (really, no education,) and everything else fell to the daughters.

its a shame that we only intervene in child abuse when its physical or neglect/endangerment (like a hoarder house full of cat piss)

They discussed how they would get hit during “blanket time” in the documentary about the family. “The fear begins with blanket training, a method that involves placing a baby on a blanket, as the documentary shows. The parent then places a favorite object just out of reach. When the baby reaches for the object or tries to crawl towards it, the parent hits them. If they continue to reach for the object, they’re hit again. The idea is you’re breaking the rebellious spirit,” Eve Ettinger, a writer and podcaster who grew up in the IBLP, said in the documentary”

What's sick to me besides hitting a baby is .. that's not even rebellion? That's.... Reaching for your favorite toy? How is that rebelling against anything?
67
ElectricMeow Mar 19, 2026 +46
They're not supposed to want that toy. It's a worldly possession. Have to beat the love for life out of them so the only happiness they can hope for is heaven.

Its literally a breeding kink. Reminds me of a person i know who enjoys being pregnant. Shes absolutely the last person you want to have any children.
34
pamplemouss Mar 19, 2026 +44
Like, what do teenage girls who’ve never gone to school “teach” their little siblings?
44
vtsunshine83 Mar 19, 2026 +75
The girls are taught to stay quiet and listen to their future husbands. Having children is what the Lord wants even if you’re broke and the kids are hungry.
75
DandrewMcClutchen Mar 19, 2026 +37
To do whatever a man tells them to do
37
Prudent-Bag5069 Mar 19, 2026 +22
It's more to do with them being part of a weird cult. Cults tend to have much higher rates of child abuse because of the insular culture and whatnot.
22
EatLard Mar 19, 2026 +88
The older kids end up basically raising the younger ones. All because Pa Dugger couldn’t pull out of a driveway.
88
meatball77 Mar 19, 2026 +106
They're not basically raising the younger ones. They were handed over to the daughters. This has the bonus of making it difficult for the older girls to leave the abusive family because they will keep the kids who are their family from them.
106
retroverted-uterus Mar 19, 2026 +38
Couldn't? He never once tried. The Duggars are Quiverfull cult members.

I'm not saying you should ever judge a book by its cover, but I could see why some might be inclined to do so.
12
makingburritos Mar 19, 2026 +9
If I open a creepy ass book and the first chapter is about horrific child sexual abuse, I’m gonna assume the author is a piece of shit. If I randomly open it again and the seventh chapter is also about a child molester? Well… I think I’ve seen enough to judge the whole book.

TrueCrimeInTheBuff Mar 19, 2026 +188
Keep in mind that this family is the same one that joined the Family Research Council and called thousands of people in Arkansas to warn about the threat of transgender people in bathrooms. They are warped sick pieces of shit constantly pointing the finger at everyone else so no one looks at them and their predatory behavior. I guarantee Jim B*** and Michelle The Vapid Womb will blame the victim, that what they did with Josh's victims (4 of his sisters and another girl).

Sadly all the educational niche channels fell to the Reality TV tsunami because of how much money it makes. TLC, Discovery, History.
27
Tactical_Moonstone Mar 19, 2026 +13
Remember the Reality TV tsunami was because of the Writers' Strike of 2007-2008. All because the TV studios didn't want to pay their writers what they were worth.

534
Haunteddoll28 Mar 19, 2026 +71
One of the problems with families this size is the older kids being expected to raise the younger kids ao I can fully believe Josh raised his brothers to see nothing wrong with that kind of behavior. Parentification messes up both the parentified kids and the ones being raised by their siblings.
71
ChickenInASuit Mar 19, 2026 +253
You’re probably thinking of *Josh* Duggar. This is *Joseph.* Same family, different pedophile.

TheTruckWashChannel Mar 19, 2026 +36

10% of the Duggar kids are confirmed pedophiles. That’s an insane statistic.
27
NokkOlaf Mar 19, 2026 +69
I guarantee you all of those kids were molested too
69
Johciee Mar 19, 2026 +50
Well, it is known his older brother did do that to a number of his sisters years ago. They covered it up.
50
PoPo573 Mar 19, 2026 +111
Another drag queen in trouble... No? He was a devout Christian? First time that's ever happened.
111
ShowOff90 Mar 19, 2026 +185
This makes me wonder who all was molested by Josh or even the parents. Cause this doesn’t happen out of nowhere usually. Usually the perp was once a victim (doesn’t excuse them). Not always the case, but shockingly high rate. I’m sure that entire family has a f****** mansion fulls of ghosts and bodies they don’t want found.
185
Langlie Mar 19, 2026 +98
It's actually extremely common that young boys who are molested go on to molest a younger sibling or other child. Like it's considered a textbook response. Girls who are molested are more likely to turn to self harm but boys often pass it on.
98
ShowOff90 Mar 19, 2026 +13
Yeah, it’s consistent. Very sad that it just continues to create more victims and abusers.
13
missdevon2 Mar 19, 2026 +138
The cousin put out a book and she has details in it about how her the grandfather was accused of molestation. Her mother wasn’t allowed alone with him and she wasn’t allowed alone with him as a child. I don’t know about these girls but considering that JIm Bob and Michelle didn’t protect them from their brother and basically blamed them…
138
PENISystem Mar 19, 2026 +38
Right? Who molested the molester? Who molested Josh and Joseph? Which Duggar male will be caught next?

44
PartyPorpoise Mar 19, 2026 +13
It’s a fundamentalist Christian household. Even if nothing weird went on growing up, those kinds of attitudes towards sex can lead to some screwed up behavior.
13
meatball77 Mar 19, 2026 +26
They sent them all to this Gothard teen discipline troubled teen facility where there was rampant exploitation of those involved.
26
deathvidal Mar 19, 2026 +30
The parents borderline admitted to letting Josh get away with what he did to his sister's. Hell, not even borderline. This isn't a shock and there are WAY more than just the two from that family. I'd bet my life on that.
30
meatball77 Mar 19, 2026 +10
I always figured that things were much worse with his poor sisters because if they were willing to admit that he was touching the girls what was he actually doing that he didn't admit and probably to far more than his sisters..

I feel bad for his wife and children. His wife, I'm sure, is woefully unprepared to support herself and her children, as she was likely taught from a young age to depend completely on a husband.
65
IncurableAdventurer Mar 19, 2026 +20
I’m sure the dad, who famously hoarded the money and had his kids sign away their fair share, is going to support her and the kids and make sure she doesn’t say anything. People without reality tv money? They’re fucked

No surprise there. No one in their right mind has that many children. Then throw in religious cult BS? Of course children were being molested.
