Yes, it's tragic that people shoot each other to death and innocent victims get caught up in the middle.  it's a next level type of societal anxiety when it's random teenagers doing random untargeted killings. this is not that, but there are comments in this topic that would have you believe that there have been two  shootings in Louisiana this month that were just crack pot psychopaths losing their minds with an AR-15 because society is crumbling

IT's interesting you mention the past 3 days. The anniversary of Columbine was 3 days ago. I'm reading the book Columbine by Dave Cullen. Looks like one of the long term affects of the mass shooting at Columbine High School on April 20, 1999 is the inspiration it had for other attacks and really is seen as kicking of the mass/school shooting epidemic.

It does feel odd to call this a mass shooting, given that most people associate it with deliberate mass killing attempt against innocent people vs a shooting incident where lots of people are shot. I don't know if it's keeping up a narrative though. I think it's just an attempt to get more clicks/money. People won't care as much about "gang violence" as they will a "mass shooting".
