If it happens all the time, is it even newsworthy anymore?

More for the future historians to sigh about, while they facepalm at how easily this could've been prevented.

What is your easy method for preventing this?

Black-Shoe May 5, 2026 +27
Obviously more guns and prayers.

Proper_Trouble8191 May 6, 2026 -11
How about a constructive suggestion or answer. The vast majority of other countries do not have a 2nd Amendment type thing in their constitution. There won't me wholesale gun bans due to that. Even if all guns are immediately banned and made illegal, there are over 300 million already out there. The people out there using them to shot and possibly kill other people are already committing criminal acts. Making it "more illegal" because they have a gun isn't going to be a deterrent.

The constitution has an Article 5 for a reason.

Then start the process.

I don’t know what you’re saying, so I’ll assume you’re agreeing with me.

The best solution is to never attempt to do anything to solve the problem

The shit they do everywhere this doesn't happen.

I was asking an honest question. How about a constructive suggestion or answer. The vast majority of other countries do not have a 2nd Amendment type thing in their constitution. Better to try nothing so people can continue to die, I'm sure.

If you weren’t going to provide anything constructive, why even comment at all? You’re no better than the “thought and prayers” people.

I’m not the one with a problem. If you have a problem, why not offer a constructive solution? Edit: I guess you’re all talk but have no actual solutions.

It’s more akin to a weather report
27
BoBSMITHtheBR May 5, 2026 +9
Are you suggesting there will be shooting forecasts so you can plan your weekend travel?
9
Keytaro83 May 5, 2026 +20
Honestly… that’d be pretty helpful.

“F****** shootingman said it would be isolated drive bys on Saturday but I ended up in a mass casualty event without my bullet proof vest! How hard can it be to forecast this stuff? Whole weekend was ruined smh”

BoBSMITHtheBR May 5, 2026 +2
You always keep a bullet proof vest in your car just in case the wind shifts unexpectedly.

Yeah, Don Henley's song "Dirty Laundry" makes it just another day. Everyday is laundry in the US nowadays it seems....

It would be like reporting a fire in an oven. Texas is basically an active warzone; I've seen people have to strap up to go get milk from the store there.

Happened at a restaurant I frequent (well, used to) and the shooter was the owner. Apparently was a dispute with the landlords. It’s a shame because Kkanbu was a great sushi place with Korean style banchan. Don’t get me wrong it’s a much bigger shame that 2 people are dead from gun violence, just kinda desensitized to that aspect

defroach84 May 5, 2026 +16
I'd be pissed about losing a good local restaurant as well 🤣
16
GreenFox1505 May 5, 2026 +13
In this area, you could go to a new restaurant every week and never run out. There is a lot of turn over and even more growth.
13
Suspicious_Bicycle May 6, 2026 +3
Yep, I used to live near that area and a friend and I would try out a different restaurant every other weekend.

Snobolski May 6, 2026 -1
> 2 people are dead from gun violence Gun owners: it's not the guns! this guy would've just run them over with his car if he hadn't had a gun!

“Including or not including gang violence?”
15
grey_hat_uk May 7, 2026 +1
Well since most of the rest of the world has to include gang violence to get any usable data...

Sorry for the dumb question, not an American...is this the same shooting already reported or it's the third in 4~ days?

Yep, they're hardly even newsworthy these days which is great for Republican politicians.
19
BlackSpidy May 5, 2026 +5
Once you see like 50% of voters and the entirety of congress just shrug off 20 dead toddlers (Sandy Hook) and refusing to take action, you kind of just lose hope there's any headway that can be done. If you're stuck in an apartment complex with half the people vote to keep an orphan crushing machine in the lobby, you're stuck with crossing your fingers you don't happen to know any orphans and seeing about moving elsewhere.

Dry-Amphibian1 May 5, 2026 +17
As an American my guess is that it’s the 3rd in 4 days.
17

3rd in 4 days would be a massive improvement https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/last-72-hours

Not a dumb question at all! Even *we* have to ask each other "Which one?" when someone asks if we've heard about the latest shooting. And to answer your question, I have no clue whatsoever. I've completely lost track.

DecembersDragons May 5, 2026 +10
I like how the article starts as a report on a mass shooting and ends as a documentary about Koreans in Texas.  >After a short chase on foot, the 69-year-old suspect was arrested about 4 miles (6 kilometers) away at a grocery store, police said. And also how it calls 4 miles a short chase on foot.
10
spyVSspy420-69 May 5, 2026 +12
Idk I’m not interpreting that as they ran for 4 miles. I’m interpreting that as they came across the suspect 4 miles from the location of the shooting and ran him down after a short foot pursuit. Could be wrong of course, but because of exactly what you said it makes no sense to read it as a 4 miles foot pursuit.

5
CryptographerShot213 May 5, 2026 +7
This is from today? Or was this one of the many shootings reported over the past week? It’s hard to keep up anymore.
7
ProofByVerbosity May 5, 2026 +7
I mean statistically there's a mass shooting basically every day in the U.S., so....
7
fat4fat May 5, 2026 +3
Not only a mass shooting every day but every day in the US an average of 7 kids are killed by gun violence and that’s just the kids who are killed, imagine how high the number would be if it included injuries and adults.
