200 Must See Films

Posted by dgmilo8085

A couple of months ago, a friend of ours revealed she had not seen \[insert movie title\]. This was followed by about 8 more films that the group of us thought it was impossible for anyone not to have seen over the course of their lives. So we compiled the attached list of roughly 200 movies that we felt everyone should see. We turned it into a Google Sheet with drop-down ratings and genres so we could follow along with her viewing journey, but I didn't want to share it on Listnook because it included personal identifiers. So I recreated the Listnook version. Would love to hear the input of r/movies to see what we may have missed. So without further ado: [https://rowzero.com/workbook/2734613E185B8EB384A83FA3/0](https://rowzero.com/workbook/2734613E185B8EB384A83FA3/0)

Wizard of Oz (extra credit watch on acid with the Wall album) Isn't it supposed to be Dark Side of the Moon?

As I mentioned, I am open to suggestions to add. Edit: Downvoted for asking for suggestions?

It's hard to know what to suggest. The list is fine, there's no bad films really. Some are even great. It's just not particularly adventurous or broad.

Again, the premise of this was movies that everyone should see, not necessarily the "Best"

Cool list — I like that it mixes the obvious canon picks with some curveballs. Lists like this always remind me how many “blind spots” I still have.

I am sure we have our own blindspots, so I welcome anything you think thats missing

For sure — everyone’s got gaps. The only one I noticed missing from my personal “musts” was City of God, but overall the list is super solid.

Solid omission, I’ll have to add

My friends and I call movies like these “The Blind Spots” or “Big Boy Movies,” as in, “you’re a big boy now, you should’ve seen *The Godfather* or *Good Will Hunting* already.” We even do a subseries on our podcast about introducing each other to various “Blind Spots” like *Stand By Me* and *Signs*. Basically a list like this is trying to catalog a particular type of film canon!
