Alright Donny, seems like the strait is open. Great job, mission accomplished, right?

That wouldn’t really be a problem. Not a ton of US or Israeli bound traffic goes through there and the little that does can be rerouted.  Blocking the straight is a blunt weapon. Less oil makes prices go up everywhere. That doesn’t work if you let most traffic through.

It does work if you collect $2 million per ship. Effectively, all these countries that are passing through are negotiating directly with Iran, leaving the US out of it. A hammer blow to the petrodollar.

Even if it’s not many, there are actual American ships stuck in there right now.

That's not a problem if they sell the ships. Are they actually US flagged ships or just US destined ? I believe there's very few US flagged oil carriers. Couldn't they just change their destination? Legitimately drop off the oil at your destination...and load it onto a different ship to finish it's journey

US flagged ships, I don't know if they're oilers or cargo. A senator wrote to CENTCOM to ask the navy to e***** them but I don't think it went anywhere.
