Yeah because for most Israelis, the last few years were real matters of survival. Ever since the Iron Dome launched there hasn't been a situation where so many rockets and missiles have damaged Israel to this extent. They had 1200 die in their version of 9/11. If Mexico bombs California for years and held hostages, the most left leaning cities even would support Trump returning the fire. It's more of a psychological thing than it is a political one.

The rest of the world's opinion isn't really the point. The point is that the majority of Israelis can support the actions of the Netanyahu government but not Netanyahu himself, especially when you consider that many don't do so because they support politicians further to the right of Bibi

This is Putin sending a warning. Israel has not supported Ukraine heavily out of fear of Russian retaliation, the fear was substantiated by Russian forces in Syria up until recently. With Russian support of Iran during the recent war it's likely we'll see increased Israeli support for Ukraine, which is why Russia is sending a message here. "There are hundreds of thousands of Israeli-Russians, we won't hesitate and have the ability to kidnap them if you support Ukraine."
