Just let it go man. Idaho has about a million registered voters. There are approx. 600k republican, 100k Democrat and 250k unaffiliated. Idaho went 2 to 1 for trump- 600k to 275k votes. When 2/3 of the people are bad, it's safe to say it's a bad place. Idaho just passed a law that's aimed at making Trans people illegal.

> Ok so none of the protests I see here matter?
I say this in all seriousness- get out while you can.
No the protests don't matter. Two thirds of the Jews that didn't leave Europe in 30's are dead. Germany didn't start with the ovens but they got there.
From the Holocaust Museum: "antisemitism was a central part of Nazi ideology. Once the Nazis controlled the German government, they used their power to persecute Jews in Germany.
In the 1930s, the Nazis discriminated against Jews. They excluded them from German society. They boycotted and confiscated Jewish-owned businesses. They passed discriminatory laws, such as the Nuremberg Race Laws. They attacked Jews in a nationwide riot called “Kristallnacht,” or the “Night of Broken Glass.” The goal of these policies was to make life in Germany so unbearable that German Jews would choose to emigrate. The Nazis’ ultimate aim was to make Germany “cleansed of Jews” (judenrein).
The Nazis’ efforts to persecute Jews became more radical over time."
Are you going to wait for the arrests of protesters? What happens when the Idaho government decides "it's too hard to determine citizenship" and they deport the protesters to El Salvador? I mean there were millions of Jewish people that couldn't believe they were in danger- they'd lived in Germany for generations, they were part of the community, these were their friends- and now they are dead.
Seriously- get out.

One more reason to make sure your family has all the info they need if you kick the bucket tomorrow.
Avoid probate. Make sure your spouse is beneficiary on all financial accounts, kids are the alternate. Fill out advanced medical directives. (They need to be witness signed by two non-family members, depending on your state) Fill out an organ donor form. Have you prepared a will?
If you care for other family members, who takes over? You should prepare instructions for that person. Review them with that person while alive in case they have questions.

For those wondering: cardiac tamponade is an excessive buildup of fluid around the heart preventing it from pumping properly/at all. There's a variety of causes but some common ones are extreme blunt force trauma (like a car accident), cancer, aortic aneurysm, or a heart rupture following a heart attack.
Likely scenario without additional data, he had a silent heart attack some time prior which resulted in fluid accumulation until it overwhelmed the heart.

Wouldn't you feel something wrong tho? I mean, with the fluid build-up, over time. Wouldn't there be difficulty breathing or getting winded easily going up stairs or... something?

Death is a lot more random than we like to consider, generally. A healthy 30 year old can have an aneurysm and never wake up, an incredibly obese person that chainsmokes and never exercises can live into their 90s.
You can fall out of a plane and walk away without any broken bones, or you can bump your head on the kitchen counter because you tripped on your kids' toy and it's lights out for good.
It's important to maintain your health and plan for your future, but it is also important to never forget that any hour can be your last. I never go to bed angry or leave for work angry at my partner. I always make sure the last thing I said was "I Love You". I work in road construction so I am especially conscious that someone looking at their phone could kill me in less than a second and what I said to her when I left that morning will forever be the last thing she ever heard from me. Or, I can have a safe career for decades and then have an aneurysm on a random afternoon and be dead before I hit the pavement.
Your health can improve or worsen your chances, but those dice are constantly rolling for all of us every day of our lives. You can improve your odds, but in the end, nobody has ever made it out alive. Your number comes when it comes.
You don't need to sell all your toys and live like a crazy person, but you don't ever want to find yourself be lying on the concrete thinking it's all over and you regret how you lived.
20
Same-Suggestion-1936Mar 20, 2026
+2
Someone already said it was a cardiac event, but massive heart attacks in your forties is surprisingly common. They call them widowmakers because it's the age you leave behind a relatively young widow and probably kids
It's also one of those things you don't see coming. There's not really a specific test that says you might have a heart attack any more than there is one for a stroke or aneurysm. Other things might point to you being susceptible but honestly sometimes they just come out of nowhere even if the docs think your heart is healthy

Official cause of death is cardiac tamponade. Where the pericardial sac that covers your heart fills with blood and affects your hearts ability to contract and relax.
This usually happens after heart surgery, any sort of chest trauma, cancer, and a plethora of other things.
It can also happen as a result of a heart attack, but not usually in the middle of one. In cases of MI, it usually happens a few days after.
Because of how rapidly this happened, I’m assuming he had a silent heart attack (heart attack with atypical symptoms) a few days prior and perhaps ignored the symptoms. The necrotic cardiac tissue then tears, leading to the tamponade and his subsequent collapse.

Basically heart attack symptoms without the chest pain, but can include it. Cold sweats, feeling like you have the flu, indigestion, nausea, vomiting, sore joints.

But after she passed, my dad and brother found a little notebook in the side table in the living room where she had been journaling symptoms for months with dates, times, duration and she was too afraid to tell anyone or go to the hospital. A lot of burping/indigestion and sweats.

Im diabetic and has a heart attack last year. Absolutely no clue I was having one, I had a chest cold and difficulty breathing. Which is what you get with a chest cold. But my wife said I should see a doctor because my breathing wasn't improving with the use of a nebulizer, so in I went. And low and behold, my Treponin levels are spiking. Five hours at the ER turned into 5 days in the hospital with leads all over me and being the youngest person in my ward by a good 40 years.
No blockages, not calcification, not even any damage. Just a heart that was starved of oxygen because of the chest cold and the high heart rate caused by the nebulizer.

This is why preventive care is so important. Check your blood pressure, get a physical, exercise, watch your diet, and most importantly, know your family history.

I try to say "I love you" often just in case something happens. Even if I'm mad, I never want last words to be mean.

Tragic it happened, but a near instant death without warning is one of the better ways to go.

Yes I heard from my ex that his uncle died 45-47 yrs of age. He had addiction issues tho, high blood pressure. I wonder if it’s the hbp being unresolved. My ex is 42 now. I’ll write back in 3 years if something happens

My uncle unexpectedly passed in his sleep in 2013. He was 46.
Seems that tracks.

As some one who grew up in Idaho.
Does the state have a Racist/MEGA problem? Yes.
Is it everybody? No.
Guy really just sounds like a small town peep trying to make his community better.

He was a republican in Nampa, Idaho. That's pretty strong MAGA vibes. You can be a great little league coach, and still hold abhorrent views.

Some of the commenters in this thread need to do some reflecting and find somewhere to constructively get their emotions out so they can come back to the real world.

“Good, bad or indifferent, I was the last person in his life that was touching him when he passed.”
I don’t know if I’m missing some context here, but that seems like a really weird thing to say.
282
Boring-Object9194Mar 19, 2026
+613
The context you're missing is that someone had just died in this guy's arms (traumatic) and he doesn't have media training.
613
Vio_Mar 19, 2026
+239
Yeah that's a guy who doesn't know what to say but ended up trying to save someone's life but they still died even with his help.
And then the media immediately asked them for their emotional response.
Even a fully media trained person isn't going to be able to process it or answer in a media trained way.

I have a friend who unfortunately had to do the same thing for one of his best friends. Friend had a heart attack and as soon as he was on the ground, my friend started CPR with chest compressions at the right rhythm and beat, and had someone else call 911. Still died.
That's a hard thing to go through whether or not it was your best friend, a stranger, a spouse, parent, work colleague.
Trying to process trauma and grief in real time while giving an interview? That's a more coherent response than I would be able to give if I were in that situation.

Yeah I worded that pretty badly, I wasn't meaning to criticize the man. I was genuinely just confused if it was an (understandably) awkward statement, or if there was context missing from the article that made it make more sense.
31
slagnanzMar 19, 2026

I don't know what I would say after doing CPR on someone in a context like that and them passing away and then I was asked for comments. Someone from the internet would probably nitpick my words too.

Qu1ckN4m3Mar 19, 2026

I’m guessing they didn’t want to talk to the media. From their point of view, they were just trying to help and didn’t see it as a big deal, while the media tends to blow things up. So they probably just said the first thing that came to mind. It just didn’t match the emotional response we’d expect.
I personally would not want to have a genuine emotional response in front of the media. I would probably end up saying something weird trying to figure out how to act in that moment.

See a lot of posts all righteous about not speaking ill of the dead
This guy supported ICE, Trump, MAGA; he was all about killing women, getting rid of rights for minorities like Trans people, protected pedophiles, etc.
Him dying doesn't make him suddenly not be a fascist piece of shit. "He may have been a leader of & supported the Nazi party, but he was really a good guy" GTFOH

Someone could have a child at 22 who had a child at 22 both married, no scandal. They'd be a grandparent at 44. It wouldn't be common but it wouldn't be weird.

Trump's succeeded, we're divided.
As much as I care about individuals, politics have us.
I cannot in good conscience care for someone who supports the fascist regime.
It's unconscienscable.

Damn, sucks Trump got to you. He hasn’t gotten to all of us, thankfully. Some of us choose not to throw away our last shred of decency and dance with the devil. But good luck to you.
ETA: Genuinely asking, but what about this person makes you believe that they are supporting the fascist regime? I didn’t look on his social media because I don’t use it but from where everything else I’ve seen about him online, I haven’t found MAGA evidence. If I’m wrong, I’ll eat my words, but just based on what I have found.

Being trans and knowing this guy most likely supported a 5 year prison sentence for peeing. Excuse me if I lack any sympathy other than his family and the bystanders.
I was involved in a cardiac arrest situation once. I and two others dragged the man out a car and attempted CPR. It was traumatic and unfortunately he passed.
