>For those keeping track, with the addition of Lewis and Turman, that makes it almost a complete reunion of all the major actors from the original series. They are: Kadeem Hardison as Dwayne Wayne, Jasmine Guy as Whitley Gilbert, Darryl M. Bell as Ron Johnson, Cree Summer as Freddie Brooks, Charnele Brown as Dr. Kimberly Reese Boyer, Jenifer Lewis as Professor Davenport and Jada Pinkett Smith as Lena James.
>Among the notable actors missing from the list are Lisa Bonet, Marissa Tomei, Loretta Devine, and Sinbad.

Oh thank god Freddie is coming back because the ONLY interest I have in this is Cree Summer.

Marissa Tomei was only in the first season so that makes sense. Sinbad has had some health issues lately. Lisa Bonet also left after the first season. I don’t remember Loretta Devine’s character.

She was the first dorm director or whatever the title was. she had a son living with her.
Sinbad likely wont be coming back except maybe for a cameo. He had two back to back really really bad strokes a few years ago. He was unable to talk nor move around for a long time. But he's back to talking and can somewhat walk. He speaks slower, but he's still cracking jokes and still himself etc.
So i could see him maybe having a cameo where he's sitting down.

Loretta Divine also left after season 1.

And they barely used her in S1.
She's talked about coming to work one day and seeing the set for her apartment was gone, leaving just a door, and that's how she knew was getting cut.

I watched the show as a kid, but truly the only thing I can remember at this moment is the flip-up glasses.

I never grew up with it, but have watched it a ton multiple times all the way through. it really holds up. Dwayne drops the flip ups by like season 3 or 4 though when he's more mature :(
I remember a few different kids in the 90's in my school wearing those flip up glasses. I recall wanting glasses just so I could wear them lol.

Dwayne Wayne's glasses are holding out for more money.

Running out of sitcom ideas? (Caveat, I watched the original.)

It's requested. It's pretty common to want a sequel series of a different World and some sort of spinoff for Martin after Bel Air did so well tbh.

It’s my all time favorite show. I do a rewatch every year.

That series tackled A LOT of serious issues for a sitcom. I loved it.
Freddie was my fav character

What’s surprising is the issues still stand. The show has held up well. I hear Marisa Tomei and Lisa Bonet are still friends

Shall we presume that if he’s ever even mentioned in the show by any characters, that Cliff Huxtable will have passed? That’s how I would prefer they handle it.

Most shows don't have any Oscar winners come out of them

She has an Emmy.
Loretta is A GREAT.
Loretta is a trailblazer and cultural icon. She opened the door for many Black film, stage, and TV actors. That's why she has many NAACP Image Awards.
We're talking about someone who was apart of most every cultural entertainment moments in the last 40 years. Sitcoms, animation, theater, film, TV.
She appears alongside almost every other great alive. She had working relationships with almost every person in Black media.
And you're not gonna tell me any of the original cast of Dreamgirls are not huge.

I love that most of the original cast is coming back, but I'm more interested to see how Hillman College has adapted to Generation Z and a post-Obama, post-George Floyd world.

Interesting choice for a revival considering the elephant in the room

They chose to reboot this one because the elephant in the room is way too big to be able reboot the other one.

Nah people have been asking for a follow up / reboot of this for years way more than the Cosby show

Right but he’s credited as a co-creator on that also, so may receive profit from a revival.

A few years ago somebody who was on the original show said that the production company wanted to bring it back
If they could figure out way to not pay bill Cosby
So maybe that actually did happen
