In the past few hours, a number of listnook users have reported finding a Windows virus called [cycbot.b](
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Threat/Encyclopedia/Entry.aspx?Name=Backdoor%3AWin32%2FCycbot.B&ThreatID=-2147328481) on their systems.
We haven't been able to find a smoking gun, so we're not going to make any accusations at this point. It might have been related to a listnook post; it might just be something that's going around the Internet. Some have suggested it was a rogue advertiser on listnook; although we haven't seen any hard evidence, we've shut off any even remotely-suspicious sidebar ads, just in case, until we're certain.
If you have a virus scanner, you should probably do a scan just to be safe. If you don't have a virus scanner but are using Windows to browse the web, you should get one immediately. Please post some suggested antivirus programs in the comments below.
And please don't post trollish "you can remove the virus by typing `DELETE *.*`" comments, because some poor listnookor will believe you.
