A Summer Memory I Want to Recreate

Posted by Shelley_112

We all have a parent who made a special summer dish that became a core memory. As we get older and our parents eventually pass on, we want to keep those traditions alive. My dad used to make french fries on the BBQ using a fryer he installed inside it, and they were the best fries I’ve ever had. I’d love to try recreating them now as an adult, even though he’s no longer here to show me how. Is there a recipe or dish from your childhood that you wish you could recreate now that you’re older?

My great grandmother's corn pudding. She never wrote it down and never told anyone

My mom would make the bread pudding when I was a kid. I’ve tried recreating it, but I can’t seem to get it right. That or I remember it being even better than it was since I was so young.

This is so bittersweet, I love it. Those French fries sound delicious, I hope you recreate that soon!! Keeping their tradition alive is quite beautiful. Well, my mom sometimes makes these unique spiral cookies mixed with chocolate and vanilla and every time I eat them I am teleported to my childhood. They’re my favorite cookies and I def wanna make these forever and if I have kids, then show them how and let them enjoy!
