Good, she is a horrible person and honestly needs help mentally. Not saying Dakota doesn’t either. She should never have been picked.

Multiple things can be true haha. Hope they both get some help.

Take it down a notch

BigJSunshine Mar 20, 2026 +9
I mean, she was arrested in 2023 for DV- it’s also on ABC for picking her in … 2026.
9
NDeceptikonn Mar 19, 2026 +6
Don’t date a girl name Taylor now.
6
Sad_Impression499 Mar 19, 2026 +247
This footage is f****** horrifying.

SellaraAB Mar 19, 2026 +59
Once the kid got hit like that she’d lose protected status and get fucked up if were him. Really, once you start using weapons at all I think it cancels out the “never hit women” thing.
59
gwen-heart Mar 19, 2026 +52
Why do we assume he wanted to hit back? Some people are just not for physically defending themselves and he needed to focus on recording and not letting the kid get hurt. People act like DV victims should be violent back when it’s literally such a repulsive impulse in your head because you only associate it with constant abuse. And hitting her back wasn’t going to guarantee a quick end to the fight either, she could have escalated it. The mind of an abuser is a twisted mirror of reality; they justify that then beating the person is right and when the other defends themselves, that’s when they escalate because they turn themselves into a victim. Their thought process isn’t ‘I need to injure them now’, it’s ‘This thing isn’t doing what I need them to do and it’s abusing me.’

Tough_Preference1741 Mar 19, 2026 +42
Beating the shit out of her mom in front of her is a bit worse than her seeing a chair fly. I get your energy but removing yourself from the situation is a much better choice.
42
Neggor Mar 19, 2026 +12
Did you watch the video? One of the metal chairs hit her. Both things are shit.
12
Tough_Preference1741 Mar 19, 2026 -31
I did. I did not see a chair hit her. I don’t hear her crying like a chair hit her. Both can be shit but some are more memorable than others.
-31
mshike_89 Mar 19, 2026 +23
The chair did hit her; that's in the original police report from 2023
23
Neggor Mar 19, 2026 +2
Right. But because they didn’t see it, it didn’t happen 🙄 And the kiddo is crying during the majority of the video and both adults confirm that she was hit based on their comments while fighting.
2
Tough_Preference1741 Mar 19, 2026 -1
Ok. Beating the shit out of her mom in front of her still isn’t the best response.
-1
mshike_89 Mar 20, 2026 +1
I didn't say it was
1
DoucheLordTruth Mar 20, 2026 -1
Yeah it’s good that she doesn’t have to be subjected to that kind of violence. She only has to watch her mom beat her dad. She’ll be much better now
-1
Tough_Preference1741 Mar 20, 2026 +4
She will be better off not seeing her dad beat her mom as well. She’ll be left with the impression that not everyone is abusive and that there are better options than escalation.
4
DoucheLordTruth Mar 20, 2026 +1
I’ll be clear, I’m not advocating for any violence. I don’t quite understand your emphasis on one parent beating another is bad but at least it’s not the other way around. The unfortunate truth is that this poor kid is going to be scarred no matter what from parents like this
1
HeckMaster9 Mar 19, 2026 +16
No, the correct move is to protect the daughter. Don’t allow her near the daughter.
16
HobbyHobbes Mar 19, 2026 +32
So you think him attacking Taylor would have been good for the kid to see? Not worried about the trauma that would cause??
32
Acceptable-Ad1930 Mar 19, 2026 +37
People are so bloodthirsty, they are just itching for a reason to hurt others. Didn’t even suggest to hold her down or something first, just went straight to “he should’ve hit her”
37
nowadaysyouth Mar 19, 2026 -5
Well you let the kid throw a chair too obviously. Don’t add insult to injury by being neglectful.

I don’t get it. Did they never look her up? Did they never fall down momtok rabbit hole?
163
Shackletainment Mar 19, 2026 +133
They knew but didn't care about any of that until the footage was leaked. Video is much more visceral and hard to ignore.
133
dumptruckulent Mar 20, 2026 +17
The same way the NFL reacted to Ray Rice knocking that girl out in the elevator. He got a slap on the wrist until the video came out then his career was basically over.
17
BoomJayKay Mar 19, 2026 +77
Oh they knew. She was platformed s1e1 of SLOMW (where they showed post her DV arrest). Mind you this show is also under Disney. No exec cared about any of this before choosing her as Bachelorette. They were in it for the drama and trying to fill their pockets (bring the SLOMW viewers over to a dying Bachelor franchise). They only pulled it because sponsors were pulling out and the video makes everything impossible to ignore. They timed s4 of SLOMW to air just before her season of Bachelorette to garner hype. They halted production of s5 due to her second DV. Now her season of ‘ette wont be airing only because capitalism. Not because execs give a shit. Otherwise, they never would’ve allowed her on as a cast member of SLOMW or Bachelorette to start. Middle finger to the big old mouse.
77
MrVociferous Mar 19, 2026 +20
I think this might be it for the entire Bachelor franchise. They rely on momentum of one season to the next and this one was intended on revitalizing the entire franchise, ratings had already been falling and this is going to cause you to lose a lot of remaining audience trust, it’s going to be a while before they can do a Bachelor, this is a BIG financial hit…. It’s going to be hard to bounce back from this.
20
terrorrier Mar 19, 2026 +8
Actually seeing the abuser’s behavior in the middle of their rage makes it real for many.
8
rlinkmanl Mar 19, 2026 +2

guardian Mar 19, 2026 +55
Hi r/entertainment, this is Jake from The Guardian US. We wanted to share this breaking story about the latest on ABC's The Bachelorette. *From our story:* ABC has decided to pull the new season of hit dating franchise The Bachelorette after footage of its central star physically assaulting her former partner was leaked. Taylor Frankie Paul, who gained fame on reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, had been cast as the central Bachelorette for the 22nd season, which was due to start on Sunday. The 31-year-old TikTok influencer had been embroiled in controversy over her 2023 arrest for domestic violence against her now ex Dakota Mortensen. An ongoing “domestic assault investigation” is also under way over an incident in February this year, according to the Draper City police department in Utah. At a press event this week, Paul [said](https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/taylor-frankie-paul-reacts-domestic-violence-mormon-wives-1236537350/) it had been “really difficult and heavy” to deal with the investigation, at which time ABC had seemed to be standing by its star and the new season even as she pulled out of an appearance on The Tonight Show on Wednesday. On Thursday, [new leaked video from 2023](https://www.tmz.com/2026/03/19/video-of-taylor-frankie-paul-beating-dakota-mortensen/) showed Paul kicking Mortensen and throwing chairs at him with her daughter present. “Your daughter just got hit in the head by a metal chair!” Mortensen tells her, with crying heard from the five-year-old. [*You can read the full story for free at this link.*](https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/mar/19/abc-bachelorette-season-cancelled-taylor-frankie-paul?referring_host=Reddit&utm_campaign=guardianacct)

I assume that's supposed to read "Mormon", but this is a hilarious typo.
37

It looks like they corrected it... what did it say?

67
Azalus1 Mar 19, 2026 +14
Damn wish they had just left it and then put an edit, but since they were quoting an article one has to do their due diligence. If we can't have standards on Reddit where can we have standards.

31
PM_WORST_FART_STORY Mar 19, 2026 +12
They've had how many seasons and only like one successful relationship?
12
IAmThe90s Mar 19, 2026 +16
Big Brother has more successful relationships than the Bachelorette
16
scruffigan Mar 19, 2026 +4
So is successfully getting cast. There's some well-adjusted fun people who do it for kicks, sure. But the directors are casting "good TV", meaning for every sweetheart you've got several who will bring the drama, bad decisions, and sex.
4
chattahattan Mar 19, 2026 +3
For being a clout chaser sure, but being physically violent is another matter entirely
3

I hope the poor babies are safe. My heart cracked in two when I saw that video

From what I’ve read she still has them

They love picking troubled people. Enough is enough ABC you can do better
9
pinkduv Mar 19, 2026 +5
Yes. But usually the type of people who are chasing fame and clout are mentally troubled. The large majority of normal people are not going on a scripted reality tv show expecting to find love.
5
velvethead Mar 19, 2026 +24
This sadly reminds me of my experience with my ex. The hitting, the kicking, the throwing of objects. She was a psychologist, so I thought at one point I would try to use her language. Just like he did I pointed out she was abusing me. Her response? To yell “you p****“ at me.

4

She’s not even attractive IMO. Seriously. Her face is not attractive, Add to that she’s a shitty person and I’m glad to see her go from TV,,,
1
Lead_resource Mar 19, 2026 +11
Watched the whole video holy shit that has to be some kind of undiagnosed mental illness but there's no excuse to ever act like that though that video was beyond fucked up. She should be in jail with no custody but of course this is the special treatment pretty women get that turns them into these entitled monsters. This is what happens when you have never been held accountable in your entire life. Something doesnt go their way and they freak the f*** out like an underdeveloped child.

The way this case is being reported and discussed on social media really highlights the double standard with which society treats male victims and female abusers Even on this post the top comment is about how she needs "help". Lol
1

Yeah been noticing too. She doesn’t need help. She deserves jail time and to never be able to get children again.
