In the Comics the Supes are supposed to represent 3 things, celebrity culture, the comic industry and the military-industrial complex
And in the show barley any of it is even there, the only thing they keep is the celeb culture which is fine what it is but IS less nuanced.
And somehow it only gets worse from here once the creatives try to do other stuff, like with season 2 and stormfront, whos whole thing is taking supes from a spin on celebrities to a spin on far right politicians, being that she is a Nazi who uses fascist rhetoric to get people angry .
And this branching out does not work since the loadbearing column for supes being able to exist is keeping up appearances, and this would never work in the comics since supes (like celebs) have to stay on a tight leash to get paid. There supposed to keep a low profile since there Image is so controlled.
Which makes it that much stupider that they also try to make supes an allegory for violent racist cops. And yes I can see the connection here, but it flops in execution since the shows allegory's are just way too direct and obvious. So when they want to make a stand in for crocked cops, they LITREALLY stand in there place. But this is just dumb conceptually since supes are not cops, and they should not be making arrests, especially for carjacking.
In the comic (for example) the one thing you don't see is supes saving people, because supes are not supposed to do any saving that is not heavily planned before hand. For the sake of there image, asking supes to do cop work is asking to go wrong and damage the brand, besides its a waste of the supes time which is why they never do it, supes are mascots
and season 1 understood this well like with starlight for example with her fake save, and her getting in trouble when she did a real save due to the complications in a real rescue so they have to be planned for insurance reasons , this was established
So them undoing this for a ham-fisted metaphor they should know does not work,
its frustrating.
Man, it's gonna be really hard to figure out who to take seriously today.

I think your analysis is using a lens that is a little bit dated. The military industrial complex of 2026 is more like the military-media-finance complex, which is represented in The Boys very well imo.

Well, I'm very happy that you woke up from that coma and crawled out from under the rock where they put your hospital bed, but you might want to lay back down because I've got some pretty bad news about influencer culture, the fracturing of media, and the popularity of Nazis over the last decade.

That's a lot of words to say "the book is better," which, like, is a general sentiment for most things.

It is not the general sentiment for The Boys however. Most people agree the show is miles and miles better than the comic.
