If you want some random entertainment on a late night check out some of Dawgface's / RealLyfe Production [vids](https://youtu.be/9OckwspZ3Ss?si=SFJrV7GS611kYhSF). He talks about Bambaataa's bs, in addition to other pioneering, long toothed folks in the industry. He's not always on point but he was about AB.
23
imjustsurfin 3 days ago +16
Will do. Thanks for the heads up. I honestly didn't know about these allegations\\activities until this thread.

SouldiesButGoodies84 3 days ago +12
I grew up w/ 80s rap and just found out like last year about him - *and* how bad Aaron Hall, Chris williams, and Uncle Luke were BITD, as well. Much worse than I'd ever imagined, and all protected, including Bambaataa. smh. Messed up.
12
imjustsurfin 3 days ago +21
I'm 64, so it was part of my "musical DNA" - and TODAY I find this out. Damn it, man. Damn it.
21
SouldiesButGoodies84 3 days ago +12
And I came up dancing to R Kelly at parties and family functions. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Talented MFs or not, they still MFs in the end and they can take that ish to the grave. Long Live ~~KRS-One~~ and DeLA!

imjustsurfin 3 days ago +9
I can't argue with that. I partied to, and dropped those artists tunes in my sound system days, too. Mrs ijs and I are sitting here in shock. We don't shock easy, but we're stunned.
9
SouldiesButGoodies84 3 days ago +7
I can understand why. Don't elevate none of these guys (from rock to rap to hip hop and everything entertaining in between) is my new theme going into the rest of '26. 50-50 c*** shoot at this point whether they're ish or not ish.

F*** KRS, he’d been defending Bam until his last day. Unc lost the plot a long time ago.

SouldiesButGoodies84 3 days ago +7
Get out! Has he? Once again I'm outta the loop. 🙁 edit: just read [this ](https://www.bet.com/article/baat68/krs-one-is-still-defending-afrika-bambaataa)and I'm wiped. 🤦🏽‍♀️

KRS has been on some pseudo-intellectual shit for years. For whatever reason he insists on framing himself as some enlightened elder statesman of hip-hop claiming the whole thing is a religion and giving himself the power to decide who is and who isn't hip-hop. Like, dude, it's just f****** music. Great culture around it, too, but it's really not that complicated and contrived as you're trying to make it out to be. He's lost his marbles a while back IMO, no idea why he's tripping. I found his pretentious claptrap quite amusing for a while, but that whole thing with defending BumBatter was the "Actually, f*** this guy" moment for me.

KRS has been pretty vocal over the years about how we should ignore the multiple well founded allegations of CSA against Bambaata because of how important he was culturally vs z. “ arguing that Bambaataa's personal life and alleged actions should not detract from his role in creating hip-hop culture.” So kind of F#ck KRS too…

SouldiesButGoodies84 3 days ago +2
Agree. Just messed up b/c I just like late last year found out K had a [mural](https://www.vibe.com/news/entertainment/krs-one-mural-new-york-city-1234731880/) up next door (I'm from the tri-state, NE U.S.) and was so proud and happy for him. smh. Now I'm honestly wondering if he has some filth in his past too. 🙄 (Guess I'll have to wait on Dawgface to speak on it. haha) 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

It’s wild that most people didn’t. Self proclaimed “hip hop heads” would always give me the shocked face when I’d bring it up but then they’d go down the rabbit hole. Hip hop, for all its wins is still extremely homophobic & willing to cover up for the guy who coined the phrase.

I grew up in the Bronx and knew Bambata my self as a kid I never thought about it but a ton of kids have been to this guys apartment in the Bronx and the running joke was always don’t drink the black kool aid if you went to his house. I’ve been in his apartment more then once and I’ll be honest he was always nice to me and never made any attempts or said anything weird to me but I’ve always heard rumors from other kids about suspicious activities

I got introduced to him through the Swordfish remix of Planet Rock...it's shocking now that he's passed to see how much of a POS he was. It's going on the list of all the things I loved that are now tainted by people being monstrous human beings.

I used to work at the Westchester Apple Store and he used to come in for Logic lessons. He did not smell good.

I don't get it. What did AB and Logic have to talk about?
2

Maybe I’m not getting the joke but Logic is music production and recording software.

Logic is another rapper, I'm assuming the person you're responding to thought you were talking about Logic the rapper

He spoke at my college in 2012, before the allegations came out. I left the auditorium feeling very disappointed. He was sitting down the entire time, wearing sunglasses, not a sign of life anywhere, and barely spoke a coherent thought. He was accompanied by another man who fielded all the audience questions for him. I was thinking, is this some Weekend at Bernies shit?

His song in Vanilla Sky was spot on for the club scene.
