>Now, the band’s manager, Rod Smallwood, has confirmed that they won’t appear at the ceremony, but only because they don’t want to interrupt the Australia and New Zealand leg of their ongoing ‘Run For Your Lives’ Tour. >In a statement to Billboard, Smallwood said: “As the most observant have already noticed, the band will be on tour in Australia around the November date of the Induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Los Angeles.” >He added, “In accepting, Iron Maiden made it very clear to the R&R HoF that the fans always come first and that the shows will of course go on…” >Smallwood went on to say: “We would like to assure all our fans in Australasia that the Australian and New Zealand dates will remain unaffected, and we look forward to bringing the Run For Your Lives Tour to them on the penultimate stop of our 50th anniversary celebrations.” Kindda clickbaity.

Their agent’s name is “Rod Smallwood”? Confident man, that Rod.

Now now they've only been eligible for 20.

The Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame is a farce. If you ever pissed off Rolling Stone Magazine or anyone involved with it you're not even considered for the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. How can **Harry Nilsson, Grand Funk Railroad, Devo, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Brian Eno,** and **John Coltrane** not be in the RRHF? It's idiocy. They were literally the iconic acts of their eras. **Grand Funk Railroad** are heavy metal and rock pioneers and were the biggest band in the world for years. "We're An American Band," is one of rocks most iconic songs. And 8 top 40 hits! **Devo** changed music itself. The RRHF is a joke.

Don’t forget DIO.

to be honest the only time ive ever cared about the rock and roll hall of fame was when dolly parton got added to it mainly because she wrote a rock song to perform that night which she enjoyed so much she released a whole rock album. I'm an actual rock fan here, who use to care. Dolly Pardon shouldn't be in the the rock and roll hall of fame, and the hall of fame lost all credibility when they inducted her.

It has become The Pop Music Hall of Fame.

Awards are as meaningless as people who care about awards.

No-Personality1840 21 hr ago +2
Yea, the Hall is a joke and people shouldn’t put much stock into it. It really isn’t about Rock or influence. As you said if you ever pissed of Wenner you were never getting in. In my mind ‘Closer to Home’ is Grand Funk’s best.

I always loved that after being one of the top requested bands for the ceremony, Rush finally got inducted and Lifeson literally said “blah blah blah” for his whole speech lol. The museum is really cool but the ceremony not so much
11
zzax 1 day ago +1
I think you are mischaracterizing that event. They have always had a goofy sense of humor and I think that was absolutely him having fun and not any slight. Even if the band had cynicism, they have too much class to try and mock the ceremony.

TJMcConnellFanClub 1 day ago +4
I think it was both imo, a goofy f*** you if you will

Electrical_Hold_3585 1 day ago +9
I read you have to pay for your seats if your being inducted. My question is why. Some of the earlier inductees were never rock and roll. So, who cares. I am glad they finally are getting inducted.
9
Tough_Object7659 19 hr ago +1
Who do you feel the earlier inductees weren’t rocknroll? I’m just curious who you’re talking about.
1
Electrical_Hold_3585 18 hr ago +1
Madonna, Cher, George Micheals, Tupac just to name a few. But you can use the old saying they helped influence or were influenced by Rock and Roll.
1
No_Accountant3232 12 hr ago +2
I'm sorry but Cher was a hit star during the rise of rock and roll. What exactly do you consider rock and roll?
2
Chas_P_Anderton 1 day ago +16
This is the correct response, and all self-respecting bands should share it.

The title is total clickbait bullshit. They’re touring Australasia during the ceremony and do not plan on canceling tour dates. It’s not out of some rejection of the award.

Maiden don’t need this.
3
chrisinvic 1 day ago +3
The members of maiden have been very clear on their thoughts on the rrhof for decades. They don’t care and think it’s a load of bollocks. Go watch their top of the pops episode, that will show you what they think of that as well.
3
Slimsuper 1 day ago +2
Wait they arent already? Love me some Iron Maiden!
2
Kalorama_Master 1 day ago +3
The HOF needs Iron Maiden more than Iron Maiden needs the HOF I’ve never listened to one song by them, but I know any history of rock/metal would be incomplete without the

Blue_Oyster_Cat 23 hr ago +1
Ha ha ha ha bravo. Radiohead displayed a similar lack of respect, too. It's a purer "rock" attitude than going all in on the ceremony.

They aren’t wrong.
1
realparkingbrake 20 hr ago +1
The R n R HOF has become a plaything passed around between the major labels who take turns getting their artists inducted. Whoever currently controls the nominating committee can get whoever they want inducted since the voting body has to choose from whoever the nominating committee has selected.

Phil Collins should also skip it. How the hell is he not in yet???
1
zzax 1 day ago +6
He literally already is with Genesis
6
Buddy0204 1 day ago -1
Yeah he had a solo career too
-1
zzax 1 day ago +3
I know. But he is already in there for his drumming and work with a groundbreaking band. His solo career was mostly sappy, adult contemporary ballads and Disney soundtracks. Not exactly Hall of Fame worthy for me.
3
Buddy0204 1 day ago -1
Ahh so let's remove Stevie Nicks, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, and what the heck is Michael Jackson doing there.
-1
zzax 1 day ago +3
I am ok McCartney and Nicks removal (already in with better music). Jackson was not my favorite, but he was groundbreaking. Collin’s solo stuff is soulless pop.

Mark Twain quote comes to mind here. Never argue...

in the air tonight? some kind of mistake? sudio? easy lover, invisible touch, take me home, I dont care anymore, against all odds. off the top of my head and a dozen others before any soundtrack hits. youre tripping doggie. you might want to adjust your filters, youre probably missing out on lots of great music.
-1
Bumble072 17 hr ago +2
Nah they are right. Just like Annie Lennox when she left Eurythmics. It was all soulless automatic for the people pop music. Invisible Touch is Genesis btw.

Ronnie James Dio is not either. The whole thing is a joke.

Aren’t like Dolly Parton and Eminem in the rock hall of fame? I wouldn’t care either. Would be like Metallica getting into the “rappers hall of fame”. It’s a joke
1
AdSpecialist6598 1 day ago +6
The problem is the rock n roll hall of fame is the default hall of fame for music in general. they just never came out and said it.
6
happyscrappy 23 hr ago +2
For modern music. Basically everything since 1955 or whatever specific date you want to pick was the start of rock and roll. Andrews Sisters: no Kraftwerk: yes
2
Tough_Object7659 19 hr ago
Most people don’t understand this.

Maiden got this arse about face. The correct phrasing is “complete and utter bollocks”

Strike them off and give someone else the spot. If they don’t believe in it they shouldn’t be included.

Bold move, Cotton.

ai_art_is_art 1 day ago +22
They're on tour and they're old. They don't want to cancel on fans that already bought tickets. I think they're making a good choice.
22
cbear9084 1 day ago +7
Then Dolly Parton shouldn't have been inducted she actually tried to refuse the nomination but her record company pushed it anyway to sell her "rock" album after her induction.

It's an utterly meaningless accolade. They've filled stadiums for decades without it.
