After Finishing Dark Matter I Have Come to the Conclusion That Apple TV Truly Is the New Home of Sci-Fi

Posted by Prince_Robot_The_IV

I won’t even list all the other Apple TV sci-fi shows but good chance there is one you love and are thinking about as you read this. I mean there’s even a good portion of you keeping Invasion alive for some reason which just shows there’s a sci-fi show for everyone on this service. I hope they keep making sci-fi shows for years to come and I think I’ll watch the other sci-fi show of their that I’ve been sleeping on, Silo. Anywho Dark Matter season 1 was phenomenal and that finale was just brilliant and cant wait to see what the author, cast and crew have in store for us for season 2.

Can they go buy The Expanse so we get the real ending?

SteamedGamer Apr 9, 2026 +77
Seriously - there are three books left to cover!

Magnetic_Eel Apr 10, 2026 +57
I’m dying to see the Laconia arc on screen
57
oupheking Apr 10, 2026 +39
The final 3 books would make for such incredible TV if done right
39
jazzmaster_YangGuo Apr 10, 2026 +5
which reminded me that the crumbs from S6 made me angry & sad because it led to nothing 😤

I’d be happy with a miniseries
1
bigmacjames Apr 10, 2026 +1
There's so much damn payoff too. There are multiple things foreshadowed going back to book 1 that you could not have predicted that have large implications in the last three books
1
Raentina Apr 10, 2026 +2
Literally there’s sooooo much left for them to cover.
2
sup3rdr01d Apr 10, 2026 +25
Best sci Fi series ever. Book and show. I want the rest SO BAD

Unfallen_Bulbitian Apr 10, 2026 +1
Steady on
1
Neshgaddal Apr 10, 2026 +8
There is a 30 year time jump in the books after the TV ending. So i expect season 7 in 2052...

BoboSmooth Apr 10, 2026 +7
Avenue 5, my beloved, come home
7
wickedsmaht Apr 10, 2026 +29
Bezos bought it from SciFi to save it because he loved the show. Amazon made some great TV then just put it back on a shelf.
29
TheRealMisterd Apr 10, 2026 +6
I thought it was to make the planes with "save the expanse" signs go away
6
Zalvren Apr 11, 2026
They didn't really bought itw they just have distribution rights for now, we don't know how long the deal is but at some point it'll likely go elsewhere. Alcon is the producer that owns the show (and is involved in the games and such coming out)

bros402 Apr 10, 2026 +1
What do you mean? We already have the prequel on Apple.
1
TheOgler9000 Apr 10, 2026 -2
Unpopular opinion but they should redo the entire series from the beginning. The expanse is one of my favorite book series and I just couldn't get into the show at all, too different for me.
-2
BobTulap Apr 10, 2026 -9
Do you want to know what happens to S*** Bin Laden**™** and Naomi's petulant teen son? Because I don't. The way it was going, The Expanse was two seasons too long.
-9
improbablywronghere Apr 10, 2026 +11
The son stays on the world he was on and becomes a union construction worker guy and s*** bin Laden blows up in the show we have. New seasons wouldn’t include them at all
11
GreenFox1505 Apr 10, 2026 +2
I would expect them to integrate some abbreviated version of The Sins of Our Fathers, even if its just a single shot as an epilogue.
2
GreenFox1505 Apr 10, 2026 +1
Hey, I've got a neat idea you can try. It's called: > Let people enjoy things. It harms you not at all and really helps everyone around you be happier. Its okay if you dont like it. Don't watch.
1
suppadelicious Apr 10, 2026 +62
Gives me high expectations for Mistborn!
62
splitfoot1121 Apr 10, 2026 +16
Are they making it?!
16
mpbh Apr 10, 2026 +35
Apple signed both Mistborn movies and a Stormlight tv series.
35
suppadelicious Apr 10, 2026 +14
Oh boy I'm happy to share that Apple acquired the rights to the Mistborn series for movies and Stormlight Archive series for high budget tv show. Brando Sando is already almost finished with the Mistborn script.

PixelPerfect__ Apr 10, 2026 +4
Ah, so we might see something in the next 10 years
4
FirewaterTenacious Apr 10, 2026 +3
You’re not familiar with Sanderson I see
3
ggallardo02 Apr 10, 2026 +1
I mean, he can deliver the script pretty quickly, but I doubt his name will accelerate all the rest of the production after that.
1
rackedbame Apr 10, 2026 +2
Chances are his screenplay is not very good either, and it will require many changes and rewrites.
2
GenGaara25 Apr 10, 2026 +2
Yes. And Sanderson has full creative control. He's writing the first draft of the scripts now and then will choose a screenwriter (whos more used to this medium than Brando) to come in and brush it up for him. He's also hand picking the producer to oversee production. These are happening right now, he gives updates on his YouTube every week.
2
terrorTrain Apr 11, 2026 +1
Movie(s?) but yes, and Brandon Sanderson said they are giving him a very high degree of control.  I'd much rather see shows, but I'll take what I can get.
1
George__Parasol Apr 12, 2026 +1
I think Neuromancer is going to be tremendous too, seriously can’t wait
1
BrokenSil Apr 9, 2026 +153
Apple TV has some of the best tv shows with the highest production quality I've ever seen.
153
illuvattarr Apr 9, 2026 +38
Definitely my favorite besides HBO. Their average quality is real good, for sure the best of the newer streamers, and the only one that comes close to HBO. But quantity is just much higher and pretty insane. Just compare their [current and upcoming shows](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Apple_TV_original_programming?wprov=sfla1) to like HBO or FX. Plus they actually renew middling shows to give them a chance, and even get expensive ones beyond season 3.
38
TheTeeny Apr 10, 2026 +11
Which is funny because so much "Apple original" stuff is Warner Bros stuff they negotiated/ paid to keep off HBO.
11
illuvattarr Apr 10, 2026 +4
Well that's been the case for a long time. Warner also made Friends which was on NBC.
4
SanX1999 Apr 10, 2026 +2
I mean, hey if it works, it works. Lionsgate was pretty successful just doing this.
2
liquidsyphon Apr 9, 2026 +11
Many started out like this. I hope they don’t give up on them like Netflix does habitually
11
dswhite85 Apr 10, 2026 +1
I kinda look at Apple TV shows kinda like I look at some HBO shows just to cut
1

I say the same thing all the time.
1

Except for Invasion, which happens to be both the worst Sci-fi show ever made as well as the worst regular show ever made.

The boy was so obnoxious I quit watching. A friend says he gets better. I think the dislike towards him just turns to indifference, lol.
8
mvigs Apr 10, 2026 +1
She was just miserable and panicked the entire show it got so old.
1
bros402 Apr 10, 2026 +1
oh no, it's committed the cardinal sin of a hatewatch?
1
TheJoshider10 Apr 10, 2026 +22
Apple seem more reluctant to cancel projects compared to others but Invasion is so ridiculously expensive that it must be bringing in great viewership every season, because I don't know why else they'd piss away so much money when they could use it for other projects.
22
Elastichedgehog Apr 10, 2026 +9
It was such a f****** slog. No idea how it got three seasons.
9
OneBigRed Apr 10, 2026 +6
Watched the first season: ”meh…” Second season drops: ”Really? This was the… the.. what the hell was this even about? I’ll let it run in the background if i have nothing else.” 3rd Season: ”NO WAY? More of this… this.. whatever it was. They really don’t want to disappoint either of those people who like this”
6
2_Spicy_2_Impeach Apr 10, 2026 +2
I remember it being pretty well disliked then I saw it had three seasons too. I was debating on watching it because I saw it had more seasons as I incorrectly assumed it got better somehow.
2
Master-of-Coin Apr 9, 2026 +4
Yep really garbage show. I got 3 episodes in and couldn’t get any further.
4
mvigs Apr 10, 2026 +2
I struggled so hard to finish it. I only finished it because I'm someone who can't really stop once I've committed to something. Never again.
2
method115 Apr 10, 2026 +1
It sucks because it looked so good and is the perfect genre for me. Spoke to a friend though and he was adamant that I don’t waste my time with it.

Whenever I call I call out a tv show for being boring I get downvoted to oblivion.

Yeah it’s a AMC show. Weak
-1
wtb2612 Apr 10, 2026 +10

10
Extension-Ant-8 Apr 10, 2026 +13
The same one that did 50 seasons of the walking dead brought to you by this incredibly clean Hyundai. Come in quick for the end of financial sales while we milk this nice story into 10 more seasons

Three good shows out of how many wet fart shows? Not a great record
1
BagOfFerrets34 Apr 9, 2026 +94
Dark Matter felt like watching someone speedrun a mental breakdown across infinite universes in the best way. Definitely queue up Silo next, then Foundation if you want full “galactic homework.”

6
echmoth Apr 10, 2026 +3
Yeah!

Oh that's great I really enjoyed those. Seems I've been sleeping heavily on Apple shows that I need to wake up to.

ozsum Apr 10, 2026 +16
Before clicking, I thought this was about the Dark Matter from SyFy and Apple TV bought it to continue
16
asfletch Apr 10, 2026 +12
That Dark Matter was fantastic, and ended less than a decade ago. I realise this new one's based on a book, but I wish they'd chosen a different title, because it got my hopes up for a reboot....
12
Cu1tureVu1ture Apr 11, 2026 +3
I assumed the same until I got to your comment. Had no idea there was a new show with that name. Guess I’ll have to watch it now!

New season coming out soon, August 28th :)
23
Deftallica Apr 10, 2026 +7
As someone who does not have Apple TV and is unfamiliar with any shows it has, I came in to this thread hoping a few of them would be listed and literally the first thing I read is, “I won’t list all the other shows…” lol
7
illmatic2112 Apr 10, 2026 +10
Personally I can vouch for: The Foundation Silo For All Mankind
10
Bellinghamster Apr 10, 2026 +10
Severance, Pluribus, and Shrinking are three of the best TV shows in recent memory. For All Mankind, Slow Horses, Ted Lasso are also great. Mythic Quest is also a personal favorite of mine.
10
NervyDeath Apr 10, 2026 +5
Silo is pretty good, made me buy and read the books
5
Galle_ Apr 10, 2026 +5
Alright, so the main ones I'm familiar with are: * Severance: Thriller series following a highly classified team of workers whose brains have been partitioned so that they have completely separate identities in and out of work. * Pluribus: Made by the creator of Breaking Bad. All of humanity gets united into a hivemind except for one extremely irritable woman. * For All Mankind: Alternate history series where the Cold War-era space race continues. * Foundation: Pure space opera. A loose adaptation of Isaac Asimov's classic series about a galactic Dark Age. Uses a lot of sci-fi tropes to keep the same cast of actors while covering a timespan of centuries. * Murderbot: Space opera/cyberpunk. Adaptation of Martha Wells's series The Murderbot Diaries, about a corporate security robot that hacks its governor module and goes rogue, but is less interested in destroying all humans and more interested in watching TV and keeping its freedom a secret so it's not melted down for spare parts. There are others.
5
littlepancakes Apr 10, 2026 +8
They need to buy and finish The Expanse.
8
hartc89 Apr 9, 2026 +5
Read the book super surprised they are making a sequel
5
xvf9 Apr 10, 2026 +3
Author is heavily involved, so it’ll be continuing a story that he wants to tell. Bodes well.
3
hartc89 Apr 10, 2026 +3
That’s good I like all his stuff still super bummed Wayward Pines was axed
3
hausermaniac Apr 10, 2026 +18
I would love for Apple to pick up Raised by Wolves more than anything in the world. That was one cancellation that I'll probably never get over
18
XanXic Apr 10, 2026 +5
That show felt so uniquely up my alley. I'd be talking about it with friends and family while it was airing basically gushing about how unique and interesting it is and they'd always be like "sounds too weird for me". And I could never win the battle of "that's why it's so good!"
5
MattBoySlim Apr 10, 2026 +5
It was so insanely unpredictable and unlike anything else out there. I was always so excited to see what would make me say WTF in each new episode. It was like they took the sacred texts from 5 different religions, put them in a blender, then shot the bizarre god smoothie into space. And hearing the creator talk about the show in interviews, he definitely had a plan for how it would all play out. It’s heartbreaking that it’s all been thrown away.
5
MalIntenet Apr 10, 2026 +5
One of my favourite pilots and opening credits ever
5
Soultrapped Apr 10, 2026 +3
Loved that show. Such a shame.
3
myassholealt Apr 10, 2026 +2
But they also have to be able to bring back the entire cast. It won't be the same if they have to eliminate characters cause the actor was unavailable, or recast them.
2
Stupidstuff1001 Apr 10, 2026 +2
Give me a prequel. - people on earth start hearing a voice saying it is God - it gives them advanced tech with instructions to kill the non believers and create ships to go to a specific planet - the war unfolds between believers and non believers - enter the start of raised by wolves.
2
Frailbot Apr 11, 2026 +1
I just wish we got to know what Sol's plan was.
1
method115 Apr 9, 2026 +31
I think in general AppleTV has been doing fantastic with their shows and I feel like no one is really talking about it.
31
TalkinTrek Apr 9, 2026 +20
Apple doesn't have any (or has minimal) "background shows" that you just toss on and semi-ignore. Even putting aside other structural impediments to expanding their subscriber base, that's always going to be an issue. Their ambitions (because many shows don't hit the mark - and that's fine, healthy even) is to be an HBO-esque/prestige outlet
20
TheJoshider10 Apr 10, 2026 +11
It's impressive what they've built up considering everything on their service is their own content. It leads to a higher necessity for quality over quantity which is why the batting average of their shows seems to be pretty good. I'm glad they've been so committed to sci-fi, and I think Red Rising could be *the* flagship show for them with the genre. Stormlight/Mistborn for fantasy.
11
harrisarah Apr 10, 2026 +1
They're doing great but I question the wisdom of picking up all these adaptations. Red Rising and Stormlight are going to be very easy to f*** up. Honestly I'd rather they stuck to original IPs for the most part. I didn't even like Foundation because I'm so familiar with the books. Silo was okay but not as good as the books and I didn't finish it.
1
Interactive_CD-ROM Apr 10, 2026 +2
> Apple doesn't have any (or has minimal) "background shows" that you just toss on and semi-ignore People are so addicted to their brain rot and “second screens” that they can’t pay attention to quality content. The reason why Netflix is so popular is because it has so much dogshit and reality shows that are juuuuust interesting enough for viewers to give it 30% or their attention while they scroll through TikTok and Instagram. These are the same people who won’t watch Apple TV because they believe it’s full of “boring” shows (aka “I don’t wanna pay attention, I just want my dopamine”). Reminds me of the Star Wars fans that complained about Andor not having enough laser swords and explosions.
2
TalkinTrek Apr 10, 2026 +5
That's a bit uncharitable. "Daytime TV" existed before streaming and was basically intended to be 'second screened' while people did chores etc... The issue is that not ALL TV should be that and yes, that if there is an unending amount of that kind of TV available at all times, there seems to be a path of least resistance where folks settle into only watching that kind of television.
5
_Meece_ Apr 10, 2026 +1
Even HBO has plenty of those shows throughout the years
1
ggallardo02 Apr 10, 2026 +5
It's discussed here constantly.
5
_Meece_ Apr 10, 2026 +2
/r/television and the occasional billboard is the only reason I know these shows exist.
2
Extension-Ant-8 Apr 9, 2026 +2
Personally I feel like the desire for me to watch anything on the platform weaken over time. I’m just tired of watching wealthy people and their problems. I’m tired of A listers and their safe storyline’s. I understand that leaning into Hollywood gives them an air of legitimacy. But I’d rather more severance and murderbot. Rather than a boring, low stakes, highly predictable, very American plot line found in the Morning Show. Or jerking off noted pedophile supporter directors with a documentary about how amazing they are. Give me something a little more edgy and something a little less safe. Apple is great when try lean into the weird. I don’t know why they changed into something that thinks a show will be only good if they make another show filled with A listers. I don’t care about another show about the inner workings of Hollywood which is a thinly veiled circle jerk. I mean have you seen the greyhound. Tom hanks just stood there and looked stoic the whole time. Felt like he shot it in a weekend. Couldn’t tell you another characters name. Or even his characters name.
2
ptwonline Apr 10, 2026 +1
Apple TV is great in a world that already has Netflix and other choices. Those other services provide bulk viewing while Apple brings the quality but not quantity.
1
jonomacd Apr 10, 2026 +1
I think they've been doing okay, but I think their shows are wildly overrated. They all feel like they have the shape of an excellent show, like the copied HBO's homework, but they fall flat and one way or another. Outside of a couple, I've been disappointed by almost all of them with the overly high expectations
1
myassholealt Apr 10, 2026 +1
It's like the glaze Netflix originals used to get, before Netflix found it's low budget formula and began churning out a bunch of mediocre stuff with a few good ones here and there. Between Presumed Innoncent, Your Friends & Neighbors, and Imperfect Women, it feels like Apple TV is coming into their own safe formula too as far as style and themes go. And yes, I know two of these series are based on books, but when you watch them you pick up similarities in them that I feel can eventually become know a the Apple TV brand.
1
harrisarah Apr 10, 2026 +1
I agree they are all flat somehow. They are universally slowly paced shows. It's like Apple is allergic to action and excitement
1
FreeEdmondDantes Apr 10, 2026 +5
Dark Matter is back!?!?!? Edit: oh. I was thinking of the other one
5
uberwoots Apr 10, 2026 +3
Constellation? I forget the name. I loved it
3
FreeEdmondDantes Apr 10, 2026 +3
No, Dark Matter, the other one by the guy that made a lot of Stargate shows. I'll have to look up Constellation.
3
harrisarah Apr 10, 2026 +3
Constellation was weird and I want more. Really getting interesting by the end
3
Cu1tureVu1ture Apr 11, 2026 +2

2

1
arazamatazguy Apr 9, 2026 +12
Apple should buy the rights to Star Trek.
12
fla_john Apr 9, 2026 +8
Given how far they strayed from the source material in Foundation, there's no way that the noisier factions in the fandom would be happy.
8
Atharaphelun Apr 10, 2026 +2
At least their original content was still nevertheless competently written (for the most part).
2
Galle_ Apr 10, 2026 +2
I mean, Foundation is basically impossible to adapt as written. You would need a new cast every episode.
2
Late_For_Username Apr 10, 2026 +3
There are only a handful of characters per book.
3
sim21521 Apr 10, 2026 +2
This has been a thing forever, you had shows like the outer limits, tales from the crypt, etc. Just telling short stories every episode.
2
MattBoySlim Apr 10, 2026 +1
And it would be mostly as dry as burnt toast. I enjoyed the books I read back in the day, but they weren’t exactly page turners for me.
1
kumquat_bananaman Apr 10, 2026 +11
Please do Red Rising Apple PLSSSS. Also excited for whatever Sanderson does with Cosmere on Apple TV for anyone into that series and fantasy/sci-fi.

They’re rumored to be making it. Pierce is supervising the show development really tightly.
1
insolentcorpse Apr 10, 2026 +3
Apple has murderbot which I think is the best adaptation since the expanse
3
Amaina Apr 9, 2026 +5
TIL Dark Matter was made into a show. I'm excited to check it out, I thought the book was phenomenal.
5
slothboyck Apr 9, 2026 +13
Also the author, Blake Crouch, is the writer and showrunner for the series. He's also helming a second season, which should certainly be interesting since it will go beyond the first (and only) book
13
UltraFlyingTurtle Apr 10, 2026 +3
I think if you've read the book, you'll get more out of the show, at least I did. I thought that pacing was kind of slow compared to the breakneck speed of the novel, but at the same time, I liked the fact the show fleshed out the side characters a lot more, so it was nice to explore people besides the main scientist dude. I thought that was one of the weaknesses of the novel, as even the scientist's family wasn't really that explored very much in detail, but you get to know about them in the show. The first season covers the entirety of the novel, and adds some stuff to help set up the second season.
3
bubbafatok Apr 9, 2026 +6
It's been hit or miss for me with Apple show largely due to their pacing, but I have liked several. You're definitely missing out on Silo if you've been sleeping on it. It's fantastic although the second season hit that Apple TV pacing that I've not been a fan of.
6
LazloHollifeld Apr 10, 2026 +1
Apple throws a lot less shit at the walls, but so much of it sticks more than any other streaming service.
1
goddamnitwhalen Apr 10, 2026 +2
Rumor has it AppleTV is going to get *Red Rising*, which would be insanely cool.

It's not just sci FI, Apple TV has a lot of bangers in general
2
noblehoax Apr 10, 2026 +2
Don’t forget Sugar. I thought that was a great Sci-Fi.
2
ScumBucket33 Apr 10, 2026 +2
Definitely the best place around for sci-fi and I’m looking forward to the likes of Neuromancer releasing. However I’m also really excited for the entry into fantasy with the Cosmere stuff.
2
pslind69 Apr 10, 2026 +2
I found it a bit predictable to the point where I stopped watching.

Silo is really bad. I know that it has fans but the writing is garbage. It really suffers from people doing stupid stuff to keep the plot going. Just a warning.

I hope Apple TV adapts the Astro City comics. I want to see their takes on Superheroes

Never heard of this show. Adding it to my list!

Just speaking on Dark Matter, I had a journey with it. I found it kind of boring for like the first 2/3rds. It hinges so much of it's dialogue on trying to ram into your head how infinite universes and the box works. For me being a die hard SciFi guy it was like 'jesus I get it'. Idk if they expected it to be hard concepts for the average viewer. But I kept watching because seeing the worlds was interesting, it wasn't dull by any means, and was vaguely curious where it was going. Then that last third kicks off and I was like "omg. I cannot believe they went there" and it just went nuts. I ended up loving it by the end. I also adore For All Mankind. It has it's rough parts but overall it's a really fun alternate reality show.

Severance, Silo & Pluribus are science fiction.

Antiwraith Apr 10, 2026 +1
Side note, since you like the show check out the book. It’s a lot better in my opinion than the show was!

Anything worth watching on there I’ve already read. Wish they would do something not based on a book. And of course theyre picking up mistborn and stormlight.

Stoofser Apr 10, 2026 +1
I’ve been binging For All Mankind, just started S5. Fantastic television. I’ll be watching this next. Any other Apple TV sci-fi? I couldn’t get into foundation even though I loved the books
1
Chetan_fun Apr 10, 2026 +1
And soon will be the new home of fantasy when the eventual Stormlight adaptation comes on it. They're seriously so ahead of the rest of the streaming services, it's not even funny.

Whirlvvind Apr 10, 2026 +1
No they're not. They've just focused themselves rather than scattershotting everything like Netflix has to, because their models are different. Apple TV is Apple's side business. Restore goodwill with consumers so that they'll ignore $50 USB-C cables, $300 Apple service charges for a burnt transistor that a normal repair shop could do for $25 if they had the ability to purchase the parts, etc. Netflix on the other hand has to dip into everything and have little patience for new series that "underperform" in their first season, as its their whole business. Competition and quality driving that is great for the consumer, and I'm sure Apple is loving making Netflix look bad on the surface, but don't for a second let that trick you into thinking that Apple is somehow sinking the other big streamers. A quick google query of "Is Apple TV self sufficient as a business?" results in: >No, Apple TV+ is not currently self-sufficient as a standalone business, as it reportedly loses over $1 billion annually,. However, it is designed as a "loss leader" within Apple’s broader services portfolio to drive hardware sales, bolster the Apple One bundle, and enhance brand prestige, rather than to generate immediate, stand-alone profits.

I felt so bad for all of those variants at the end. And the original variant has to be the biggest prick of any TV show, ruining so many lives because he was… what, too much of a coward to try to change things in his own universe? Did he even care that the woman he actually loved wound up shot dead because of his actions?

Am sad, thought it was about Dark Matter, the sci fi show, but it is about Dark Matter, the sci fi show 😓

lmao, I loved the OG Dark Matter. It’s a core memory show at this point

Whats the show about?
1
JoggingGod Apr 10, 2026 +1
I'm watching Foundation and my goodness. It isn't standard Sci-fi, I'm kind of surprised it's been done at all tbh. It's not the easiest story to get a handle on but it's really good once you settle in.

xayzer Apr 10, 2026 +1
I've been wanting to watch Dark Matter for a while, but a few years ago I read the book, and I don't know if that would sort of ruin the show for me.
1
myassholealt Apr 10, 2026 +1
Agreed. Not every show is great, but I appreciate that they are giving so many of them a chance. But at the same time, it seems like a lot of them are book adaptations, so we can get even better if they give more original scripts a chance too, without needed to know it already has an audience from the book. C'mon Apple, you have the money for it!

PhantomRTW Apr 10, 2026 +1
I was so confused, because I was thinking of the older Dark Matter from the syfy channel. Which was awesome in itself.

Yup. I pray daily that Paramount decides to sell down their debt by offloading Star Trek to Apple.

bluehawk232 Apr 11, 2026 +1
I have enjoyed Apple producing more genre shows than other streamers but I do still have reservations on the company as a whole and they do have flaws as a producer. I mean the go to funny one is that villains can't use Apple devices. The other is how apple doesn't want to piss off China and had a falling out with jon stewart over it.
1
grey0909 Apr 11, 2026 +1
Yeah, i hope they do more Blake crouch books. But apple is killing it
1
lance777 Apr 11, 2026 +1
I dropped the book at around 40% mark, but the show does a remarkable job with a predictable story.

M0BBER Apr 11, 2026 +1
I've said this here a year ago or so... I think that the new HBO as well. Haven't had a streaming service put out this quality of output in a while.

? 3 of their sci fi shows suck so how many do they have total? 6? 7? so half are bad. not sure how apple is the new home of sci fi then.

I love how this show starts somewhat normal then gets crazier with each episode. Looking forward to Season 2!

Dark matter is so poorly written. My least favorite sci Fi book.

StuffonBookshelfs Apr 9, 2026 +1
I need to watch this one. It’s been on my list for a while and I just haven’t gotten around to it.
1
DookieFartz Apr 9, 2026 +1
I'm a big fan of the book and I think they did a great job adapting it (helps that the showrunner is the author). Looking forward to season 2.

Great. People have figured that out and been saying it for years

mr_pixeltie Apr 10, 2026 +1
A shame what they did with Foundation. The Lee Pace bits are super fun, spanning generations of an empire... Then you have the other story with terrible characters and a really boring plot... What a way to waste the great Jared Harris. As others said, Silo is a great, distopian story. Severance is one of the most intriguing and well paced series out there too. Pluribus, quite original (a little slow paced, but fun). Started Drops of God wich is fine. Anyone can recommend Servant?

Psychoticpossession Apr 10, 2026 +3
Yeah parts of Foundation was just bad imo. I don’t get the glaze online at all

Netflix has better sci-fi: Dark, Stranger Things, The OA, Travelers, Black Mirror, Love, Death & Robots, 3 Body Problem, ...
0
Risenzealot Apr 10, 2026 +1
Eh it's all opinion based so even though I disagree with you I suppose you aren't wrong. For me, For All Mankind alone put Apples Sci-Fi over anything Netflix puts out.
1
Qaxar Apr 10, 2026 +1
I tried watching For All Mankind and couldn't get passed two seasons.
1
menevets Apr 10, 2026 +1
Maybe Apple can pick up The OA. Showrunners had 5 seasons in mind.
