Just give the poor man the rights to "The Generation Game" like he so clearly desires.  No one else has ever been able to do it like Bruce Forsyth in the 1970s, but I think Little Alex could remake it correctly

I just personally think 5’4 is too short for a TV host but I wish the little tike the best

I just personally think they need to pick someone less problematic. This man has confided way too many things about women being able to vote, being pilots, and overall just being too chopsy of late.

He really should stop telling Greg all those things in confidence tbh.

so he's trying to make 'the button' again?

That is what the article says, yes. It's unknown whether it will be a revival or a Taskmaster spinoff, but the premise sounds similar.

It does sound very “The Button but make it Horne.” Honestly I’d watch if they lean into full Taskmaster-style stats and weirdly specific family leaderboards.

but that was already 'horne'? he was involved in every aspect of its production.

Oh no, members of the public are the least funny people ever.

I think they mentioned avoiding general public versions of taskmaster. Hopefully by doing this they found formula that worked or channel four are throwing enough money around to get him to change his mind

Yeah I can't remember if it was during an actual episode or an interview, but I specifically recall Greg Davies mentioning that people have asked if they would ever put regular people on Taskmaster and he said something like, "No! Because I don't want to!" But that was just referring to Taskmaster in its current TV incarnation. I believe the Taskmaster Live stage show does use contestants from the audience.

It was one of the openers in series 20. I watched it just the other day.

Maybe it could be fun to get a completely no name comedian as their average Joe. Someone who has been doing stand up or improv a few years but hasn't made it on any TV yet. Still a comedian but also someone audiences hadn't heard of before

I have not really been a fan of anything in the expanded Taskmaster Universe. I love the show (and love some of the international versions of it), but none of the "spin-offs" have worked for me, like the New Years Treats, Junior Taskmaster, Taskmasterclass, Taskmastermind, the board game, etc. Power to them though. Horne is a busy guy.

I liked the button, so whatever they're calling the same thing now should be fine too.

The sheer volume of franchised Taskmasters in the wild (presently, 3 different versions are airing concurrently) and now this! Surely Horne will be looked back on as creator of the decade, and one of the all-time TV format gods.

How many tasks can a single human being make up? The dude has already made 21 seasons of just the main uk taskmaster alone + he made multiple other versions in other countries

Other than variations of or straight up ports of existing UK tasks, the tasks on the international versions are set by the local production teams, with Horne/Avalon signing off on the final output to make sure they keep the overall Taskmaster feel. He does still generate the majority of the UK tasks though, with some input from "Task Consultant" Tim Key (which Key says is just him and Alex talking over ideas in the pub, most of which Alex has already come up with, and in some cases adding some twist or addition). The Avalon producers then test the ideas and check for the legal/safety stuff. Which is why in the most recent stage task, Greg laughed at Alex's "it actually works!" face. He'll have been genuinely worried his bagpipe task wasn't going to work.

He has been playing it for like 15 years before the show even was green lit! He would just do it for fun with other comics in the UK

my comment is about the ridiculous number of tasks this man came up with

Alex Horne can do whatever he wants forever. If it doesn't work, that's fine. Just let the man try.

Am I the only one that doesn’t get this show? my missus loves it, so I always end up seeing them, I just don’t find it entertaining!!

It's watching people do strange, often impossible tasks. The contestants then either attempt to follow the cryptic instructions to the letter, or find a creative way to subvert or circumvent those instructions. The fun comes in seeing them either fail spectacularly, or succeed spectacularly. Each episode generally involves everything from broad slapstick to clever wordplay, and even genuine athleticism or brilliant skill. If you can't find *anything* entertaining in the show, entertainment might not be your thing.

I mean that’s a little harsh.. some people enjoy show pony jumping.. I’m sure you don’t. They call that entertainment. What about fishing tournaments?

haysoos2 5 days ago +1
Have you seen rabbit show jumping? Now that's entertainment! Fishing isn't even interesting to *do*, let alone watch. Unless it's Gil Fisher, and he's fishing at the lodge with some musician friends like Wendy O'Williams.
