I am also really excited to watch Alison Brie play femme fatale supervillain Evil-Lyn

You have Alison as Evil-Lyn, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress. It's like somebody downloaded a cast list from my brain.

Wish they got Alexandra Daddrio as Orko.

Do you know how large the chest on that robe would have to be? 😂
22
Alchemix-16 Mar 29, 2026 +10
Orko’s robes are rather voluminous

Yea I like that trend. When we get a thundercats movie I want Ariana Grande playing Snarf.

babysamissimasybab Mar 29, 2026 +83
Does that mean I can blame you for Skeletor?

sorry, my power is only useful for female casting. I'm like Bizarro Sarah Halley Finn.

LETO?! Seriously, why do they keep doing this? Just stop giving him jobs. That's about enough for me not to see this.

I don't hate 30 Seconds to Mars. And I did like him in a few films -- Fight Club, American Psycho and Lord of War... I'm sensing a pattern, though...

This movie is going to be like a Make-A-Wish come true for men of a certain age. I'm not judging and I'm not complaining. I will, however, deny I've ever watched this movie to my entire social circle.

Love Alison Brie! Her Evil-Lyn can be the best combo of both Evil Annie and Zoya the Destroya
99
phenomenomnom Mar 29, 2026 +14
Its gonna be so Zoya! and I had no interest in this flick until I read this headline lol The marketing is working on me 🙄 But also the fun casting
14
One-Feedback678 Mar 29, 2026 +2
Yeah this has moved up to "might watch when I'm bored one night." I love her
2
carson63000 Mar 30, 2026 +1
Haha same. I dug Masters of the Universe when I was a kid in the 80s, haven’t had any interest whatsoever for 40 years though. But Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn? You’ve got my attention.

if she uses the zoya voice as evil lyn, i'm gonna lose it lol

I have not watched community much after Troy went on a boating trip, but there's an evil Annie now?

There was one in the gas leak year, one of the few memorable things about that year

I skipped the gas leak year. Is it worth watching?

It’s the episode where Jeff graduates. Last episode of the season (I forget which one). The next season starts with everyone having graduated and coming back to Greendale for reasons.

He is why I probably won't see it. Of all the choices. Ugh. For such an iconic role. Why?!? They had so many choices that weren't this gross, coworker-harassing a****** excuse for a peraon.
34

Bill Hader would have been an insanely better pick for Skeletor.

Yes. And they are keeping him far, far away from any promotional or marketing materials for the movie.

Must've been difficult to film all his scenes separately from the rest of the cast like the last few movies he's been in.

I wouldn't have had her doing this before reprising her role as Annie Edison on the big screen on my bingo card.
2
joepez Mar 29, 2026 +2
Saw an extended preview for this last night. It looked so bad. The acting they showed was terrible. The CGI was all over the place and none of it good. At one point they showed he-man in the classic pose and he had a giant six pack but in the very next scene were he’s swinging his sword he looked like a normal guy (he was wearing the heman outfit in both scenes).
2
Linenoise77 Mar 29, 2026 +7
That sounds.....exactly like He-Man. As someone else said, i hope they really lean into the stupidity of He-Man, because it is absolutely stupid. Like the whole thing is stupid, names, stories, concept, the fact that it was actually widly successful briefly, that it hit on every single trope with every single thing it did.....to the point where you don't know if it was just peak stupid, or someone artfully making peak stupid. The He-Man movie SHOULD leave you laying awake in bed when you get home, just trying to get your mind to reboot out of a "Why?" state.
7
huxley2112 Mar 29, 2026 +7
As a younger Gen X'r this movie injects nostalgia directly into my veins, so I may have a biased view here. The preview made the movie look like it's gonna be corny, but not objectively ridiculous like everyone else here is saying. As a big Alison Brie fan, I can't wait to see her as Evil-Lyn. She crushes every role so personally I'm excited to see her in this. Besides, the original Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren is so terrible that the bar is already set very, very low for this movie. It's not even ironically bad.
7
Ironyfree_annie Mar 29, 2026 +2
Isn't that just the trailer?
2
etothepi Mar 29, 2026 +4
I like Alison Brie, but that preview came up before Project: Hailey Mary, and the entire theater was laughing the entire time at how bad it looked. Hope she got a good paycheck, pass.
4
htp-di-nsw Mar 29, 2026 +12
That's the point of He-Man. It's hilariously stupid. I grew up with He-Man and had all the toys, but even I recognized it was stupid and silly. My 13 year old son found my old He-Man Christmas Special DVD recently and thought it was so funny that now we're watching the show regularly. If this movie isn't goofy, cheesey nonsense, then it's not He-Man.
12
babysamissimasybab Mar 29, 2026 +5
You nailed it. Even the name itself is a joke! If a theater is laughing at the trailer, they did their job.
5
humbuckaroo Mar 29, 2026 +5
Yep. A lot of people are missing the obvious here.
5
VonMillersThighs Mar 29, 2026 +2
The tone of the trailer felt like it was taking itself pretty seriously was the main issue.
2
htp-di-nsw Mar 29, 2026
The show always took itself seriously, which is why it ended up so hilariously stupid. Cornball shit is only funny when it's sincere.
0
humbuckaroo Mar 29, 2026 +3
No it didn't. It was a cartoon for kids.
3
htp-di-nsw Mar 29, 2026 -2
If you don't think cartoons for kids can take themselves seriously, then I don't understand what you did as a child.
-2
FourSes Mar 29, 2026 +5
The original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon did not take itself seriously. Skeletor and his gaggle of idiots were a vaudeville comedy routine and He-Man was a heckler who would make jokes about them constantly. Pun jokes. Orko was another running bit about how his spells would mess up and Cringer was a Scooby Doo rip off. There were straightmen roles like Teela but the show was intentionally goofy as shit. There were serious He-Man cartoons that came later.
5
SaphironX Mar 30, 2026 +1
Yeah but He-man is cheesy stupid. It’s not Jared Leto’s bad behaviour stupid.
1
htp-di-nsw Mar 30, 2026 +1
I agree he was a terrible casting choice. Skeletor just had to be a super buff dude with a mask or CGI skeleton face and a goofy voice. If anything is going to ruin this movie, it will be Jared Leto.
1
Jimmni Mar 29, 2026 +5
As an 80s kid who was a huge fan of MotU, I thought they largely nailed the look. It was always stupid but it was fun and I’m glad they’re leaning into it. I’m cautiously hopeful but prepared for disappointment.
5
omissionblastvirtue Mar 29, 2026 +1
But who is playing Orko? Still waiting to find out.

It won’t be Alison Brie’s fault, but I’m pretty confident that whoever green lighted this movie is getting fired. I’m the target demographic for this movie age wise and I’m like “no, please don’t do that.”
2

1
Clintaur Mar 29, 2026 +11
I gotchu Stoic_spaghetti, lemme help you with that math. He-man was started in the 80’s. Folks that were kids from the 80’s are in their 40’s now.
11
OkMail2335 Mar 29, 2026 +4
Ignoring that all of those would make shitty adaptations, if He-Man is for 70+ year olds then that means your shit is for 60+ year olds? Wow, what a young buck you are.
4
Funky_Fly Mar 29, 2026 +3
Give it 10 years, we're doing 80s shit right now. When the people who were little kids then age into the "I got enough money to relive my childhood hits" demographic, then you'll get it.
