Fortunately Canada has already found a market for our Aluminum the US no longer needed/wanted in Europe...

And if the US orders now it'll be months before they get fulfilled because aluminum is ordered months in advance. That's assuming Canada doesn't prioritize their new EU clients to maintain their new relations. Tariffs on aluminum is so dumb when you're country needs aluminum and yet doesn't produce enough in your own country so you have to import it anyways from the Middle East because they're cheaper now. And yet now because the Strait is closed and Iran bombed the smelters you can't get your aluminum shipment.

I'm convinced the tariffs were put in place to make Russian aluminum more attractive.

Literally the only reason to tariff Canada is to help Russia. When you have a friendly neighbour right next door selling you untold natural resources at c**** prices to keep your factories going, the only reason you would want to screw both them and yourself over with tariffs is to help a third party.

This is a great point! In this case, Europe benefited from the Trump Administration's erratic and irrational trade and tariff policies. Moreover, Canada is slowly succeeding in finding new markets for aluminum and other exports. Good for Canada and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney!

Good thing the US slapped a bunch of tariffs on Canada. The country right next to them that produces a shit ton of aluminium. Even better Canada already diversified its aluminum sector to Europe so the US couldn't even order more if they took the tariffs off.
