The e-commerce giant called the surcharge "temporary" but couldn't give a date for when the policy would be retired.

The masses being burdened with costs while wages stagnate is the objective of billionaires, can't rise against them if you can't miss paycheck, while the rest of your would be wages are distributed to the stock market.

Amazons retail division has massive revenue but very slim profits. They can’t really afford it either unless they take a loss or subsidize with other divisions.

Great, another Trump tax. The only silver lining is the humor in watching right-wingers convince themselves that they're now happy to pay higher prices.

A different way to arrive at the same place is trump comes out and says it's a hit job by Bezos and MAGA 'boycotts' AMZN in favor of driving to whatever place they tolerate where things are at best the same price but require gas and time.

So...Amazon employees who drive into work can charge Amazon an fuel surcharge since their own gas is more expensive, right?

Don’t they use a fleet of Rivians to deliver packages?
5
Keleos89 Apr 2, 2026 +7
They don't even use the Rivians themselves. They rent them out to third parties to handle deliveries.

Last mile, yes, but they get to the warehouse via boat, plane, and truck. But Amazon can f*** off.

That doesn't matter. the American economy is coupled at the hip to oil by design so that the rich can do this, that's why "green" threatens the regime and why republicans are so vociferously against it.

Yeah, we produce a shitload of domestic oil to export on giant ships that run on oil… to drive up the cost of oil exports... California’s gonna have a windfall next year on the taxes alone.

But their AI datacenters are increasing the prices for electricity and somebody needs to pay for that

The American people must be masochistic by the way they love always taking the financial brunt of their completely capable overlord’s mistakes

Good thing I stopped buying anything from Amazon already.

Everyone needs to stop buying shit off of Amazon. Buy it directly from the vendor or go to a store and buy it. And cancel prime stop making them profitable.
