"Dear State of South Carolina,
You've been a great Amazon customer, and we'd like to show our appreciation by giving you an Amazon gift card in the amount of $12,500,000. This amount will be automatically applied to your next Amazon purchase, and any remaining balance will be applied to subsequent purchases.
Thanks again!
Sincerely,
The Amazon Customer Care Team"

You want to know the really funny part, South Carolina uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) in its IT infrastructure... They gonna send that money right back to Amazon... Hell Amazon could have settled by offering AWS credits... loll

I think it's the legal precedence it sets. Does Amazon have to collect those taxes now going forward, and how would that affect SC-based sellers? Will they (or even the sellers) owe back taxes for all the sales since they began the challenge a decade ago? Will other states step up with their hands out?

Corporate lawsuits should always be tied to a percentage of a corporation's REVENUE, not profit! They will not give a shit until you threaten the core of these extortionist companies.

Comparably speaking, that's like me owing them about a buck and change.

Don't worry they will recoup this by firing 1000 workers.
