>If you loved Silicon Valley but wanted it to take a darker look at the ultra-wealthy nerds building, The Audacity is for you as well. I... did not. SV was about as dark as I wanted it else it's just a miserable experience with how much it reminds me of the real world.

SV also came out at a time when the tech industry was less threatening and definitely less mixed in politics than it currently is. It was easier to make fun of it back then without it becoming too depressing.

Ya honestly looking at alot of the tech industry these days is just depressing

SV was great and also caused me legitimate stress with how real it was. I'm not at all interested in getting any darker.

Rewatching the entire series currently and it's even better than I remember it. Damn it was so real in many ways. Painfully laughing at so many things but also nostalgic for the way the industry was just a few years ago: (

SV was great when the point of the show was absurdism. It got too real and depressing and that’s when I lost interest

Most people dont want or need darker Sillicon Valley. Any darker and you are better off just making a biopic because even a documentary would show the good times. SV got really dark in humorous ways but it was dark. The implication that jianyang killed erlich or at very least stole his identity completely. The rat plague ending, the wink that monica sold the algorithm to the NSA. The VC lady in prison. Tldr SV valley played its darkness for laughs which is great, idk if I actually want to explore the darker topics in depth.

I don't think it was ever implied that Jianyang killed Erlich. Erlich leaving kind of screwed him over and he couldn't handle the guys the way he thought so he definitely DID steal his identity and was just off the grid doing stuff in Erlich's name.

30 min in and it's just rich people complaining about problems they created, using buzz words, living lavishly, lots of scenes of random people talking about random business things. It's so boring. Where's the hook? Where's the catch? It's just so slow. Who wants to see therapy sessions? It feels like Temu Succession meets Silicon Valley.

RegularGuy815 Apr 13, 2026 +59
> Who wants to see therapy sessions? Well, The Sopranos became the biggest hit while having its main character in therapy...

ro536ud Apr 13, 2026 +34
I’ve come to find out some ppl skip those scenes specifically. Which to me is wild

They love the badass gangsterdom and hate that it's all just sad boys with mommy issues.

The first episode of was overloaded with character intros. There are a million characters. The second episode takes off because you finically realize the hook is between Sara Goldberg and Billy Magnussen and Zach Galifinakis.
4
verysmallraccoon Apr 19, 2026 +1
the hook is the end of the episode when the main character starts blackmailing his therapist. not sure how you missed that.

They're well acted satirizations of the typical wealthy tech types who are conniving and self centered who poorly maintain composure when faced with reasonably opposed questions and considerately posed disagreement. The premise is to show how unhinged they are and how their obsessive compulsive insistence on trying to make things work their way is going to inevitably have some unforseen catastrophe, either for them or for general circumstances. I understand being put off by a show because it's not your cup of tea but I'm two episodes in and even the annoying characters are well done. In current times a lot of TV is mass produced slop with writing that has no integrity and tries to orient the plot around emphasizing contemporary political narratives so that you have to sympathize with shilled political ideology at least on some subconscious level in order to be consistently engaged with the plot. This show has that to a slight degree but actually has an original enough concept for the way it's written to be actually watchable compared to how dull most shows are

Itzli Apr 13, 2026 +1
The show doesn't revolve around therapy at all. I also didn't expect it to have so much comedy. The vibe reminded me of Beef, insane people all around

Maybe they all get cathartically brutally f****** murdered. Like Inglorious Bastards.

If it nails the mix of “disruptive” buzzwords and quiet worker misery, I’m in. They should really lean into fake keynotes and terrible product launches, that’s where tech satire shines.

ZimmonsInteractive Apr 13, 2026 +46
Maybe they didn’t want to feel like they were copying Silicon Valley too much 😂

davoloid Apr 13, 2026 +24
I saw a real world tech launch a couple of weeks ago that was doing that whole awful product launch event, the style that I'd expected Silicon Valley would have put to pasture. Not so. Much cringe.

Because of weak acting and overdone characters, the first episode didn't seem to work with me. It wasn't obvious whether they were trying to be a comedy (like Silicon Valley) or a drama, which we tend to call "dark comedies" these days. There was enough there to make me try another episode or two but not enough to recommend.

iamacannibal Apr 13, 2026 +2
I watched episode 1 and it’s pretty good. The only thing I didn’t like was Meaghan Rath’s accent. It wasn’t consistent. Not sure what the point of her even having one is. They could have just made the character from Canada like she is.
2
pleasegivemepatience Apr 18, 2026 +1
Yeah I couldn’t stand her acting at all, she’s miscast for sure.

I was born in Mountain View and spent my entire professional career in Silicon Valley. I have no desire to watch this.

Man, a lot of negativity here! I get the premise is overdone and unwelcome at this point. Good thing it's more about the characters and some sharp writing and great performances. I was glued to episode 3. I think it could definitely go either way from here but I'm in. Hoping they can pull it off. It's really not remotely like Silicon Valley, imo. It's not a comedy and the satire isn't overt. I don't even know if it's a dramedy. The characters are a little 'big' maybe but it works. It checks a lot of boxes for me personally but I'm sure it's not for everyone. It is definitely worth a try though! It's not a bummer. It is fun.

As long as it doesn't ignore the obvious H1B problem for the last 20 years and the caste system. That has popped up in the valley, it might be good otherwise its sanitized bullshit.
1
Kaiisim Apr 13, 2026 -3
Meh, it'll be more propaganda that is afraid to show the tech bros are as extreme as they are. Even Silicon Valley didn't really show how insane they are, they had to pull back because it seems unrealistic or whatever.
-3
pleasegivemepatience Apr 18, 2026 +3
Clearly you didn’t watch the show. They’re using a technology that’s basically Gods Eye, it can track you anywhere and learn everything about you, and you can guess what an egotistical and insecure tech CEO does with that tech…. You’re wildly incorrect in your assumption, they’re portrayed relentlessly negatively. Everything is about perception, spin, growth and control with these guys.

Cutsdeep- 3 days ago +1
watch it dude

gorodos 2 days ago +1
The best version of this is in "The Other Two", where it plays out as one of the main characters going on dates with these guys and being annoyed that they want to take her into space. So good.

Instead of Dark Winds. Wonder how many people besides me found something better to watch instead of a whining rich white boy?
