I loved 3/4ths of coven until it inevitably stopped making sense. Apparently they were gonna do a full spinoff and then midway through said f*** it no we aren’t and that’s why the plot (and taissa’s character) rapidly change halfway through.

Ryan Murphy has writer adhd, hes hyper focused till mid or 3/4 of a season then fucks off and everything flies off the rails.

neatyouth44 Apr 8, 2026 +4
I slugged through so many seasons of “resentment from a male character” through “but the women will save it” only to end up in a confused writer’s room between King’s cocaine fueled existential dread, TMZ’s Chosen one gossip, and “Tales from your server/BOFH” and Faith casually flicking a cigarette to burn it all down only to say… This indica isn’t hitting hard enough.

Coven is the only thing that could get me to watch another season of American horror story I don’t care if it’s slop I’m slurping it up.

They knew after Delicate they had to bring out the big guns or go down as a good show that got worse and worse until it ended. Now it has a chance of going out as a good show that got worse and worse until it had a great final season and everyone remembers it fondly (but still skips Delicate).

Hydroponic_Donut Apr 9, 2026 +10
There were always plans to be another witch season after Apocalypse. Murphy mentioned it years ago
10
epicmemetime15 Apr 9, 2026 +2
What happened with the last couple of seasons (NYC and delicate?) I remember seeing lots about them before they came out but never heard anything about them after. Were they really bad? I remember seeing a lot of hope for Delicate because Murphy wasn't showrunning it or something
2
Hydroponic_Donut Apr 9, 2026 +1
NYC was good imo because it was less paranormal and somewhat realistic, some didn't like it because it was LGBTQ+ focused (aids epidemic story) and Delicate was just a weird book adaptation that wanted so badly to be Rosemary's Baby but got nowhere close.

DrSpacemanSpliff Apr 8, 2026 +6
Did you watch the Apocalypse season?
6
Scarletyoshi Apr 8, 2026 +30
I doubt I could describe a single plot line but I bore witness.

peppermint_nightmare Apr 9, 2026 +9
The world blew up, everyone was robot, the devil?
9
BlueHero45 Apr 9, 2026 +4
And everything was undone.
4
peppermint_nightmare Apr 9, 2026 +6
Right, time travel, the only thing I think it was missing was dinosaurs, and ninjas (unless one of the robots did karate, I can't remember).
6
Over-Pass-976 Apr 9, 2026 +4
I think it was Krav Maga, actually

I wish I hadn’t

herecomestherebuttal Apr 9, 2026 +4
Yup, Coven was the only season I ever liked - and I loved it. Glad to see it coming back.

Middle_Sir_4249 Apr 9, 2026 +3
Room for one more to Coven Slurp?
3
whatifwhatifwerun Apr 9, 2026 +3
They're dragging me back in bc idgaf about most of the newer stuff but more Coven? Esp if they can get back most/all the OG witches? I'm watching 9-1-1 and loving how much Angela Bassett I get to see, but I want to see more of her as Marie!

soundsaboutright11 Apr 8, 2026 -1
Which is why they keep making slop
-1
neatyouth44 Apr 8, 2026 -6
Sure. As soon as they have women writers taking the lead, because the “men writing women” ship has sailed.
-6
StateProfessional424 Apr 9, 2026 +1
Lol it was written and created primarily by two men 😂 Without which the show would not exist
1
NotLeroLero Apr 8, 2026 +14
Nope. Not falling for that one again (Yes I will)

Now the poor thing is billed UNDER a Kardashian 🙈🙉
37
circlehead28 Apr 8, 2026 +21
I wish she’d branch out from Ryan Murphy’s shadow. Instead she’s wasting her time cosplaying as a lawyer with Kim Kardashian 🙄
21
No_Cauliflower_81 Apr 8, 2026 +6
She was the only good thing about All’s Fair, a show that made even Glenn Close look bad.
6
mikey2k200 Apr 8, 2026 +1
Was?! ...Is it over? Is it safe to return to the tv?? 🙉🙈
1
[deleted] Apr 8, 2026 +5
Nope, it seriously got renewed for season 2.

mikey2k200 Apr 8, 2026 +3
The F***...
3
mikey2k200 Apr 8, 2026 +3
Honest question and I hope I dont get banned for it Did Kim K get 'written off' by chance?!
3
crookedparadigm Apr 9, 2026 +1
My wife and I tried that show and only got 2 episodes in. We aren't immune to enjoying trash from time to time, but after the second episode we were both just kind of like "Is this....just shit?" and it was.
1
maxwell_winters Apr 9, 2026 +5
She took a break from Ryan Murphy and won a Tony.
5
theiwc0303 Apr 9, 2026 +5
I don’t think her career ever elevated because she really isn’t a good actress. Most her performances in AHS are just the couple same characters repeated(for her it’s either strong/sassy woman or screaming, crying overdramatic that becomes strong/sassy).
5
ventodivino Apr 9, 2026 +3
Thank you. I tried to watch Ratched and that’s when I realized this.
3
maxwell_winters Apr 9, 2026 +3
Sure, a Tony-winning actress is bad.
3
Omatzus Apr 8, 2026
She guest stars on the Bear alongside a bunch of A-listers in the extended family, and she feels so out of place.

AnAussiebum Apr 8, 2026 +11
Coven was the best season tied with murder house for me. So I will tune in if the witches truly are back.
11
hahvahdyahd Apr 8, 2026 +23
No Taissa Farmiga? It’s hard to imagine a coven season without Zoe
23
Duty_Diligent Apr 11, 2026 +2
And no Misty either :/
2
Couldnotbehelpd Apr 9, 2026 +1
Taissa is busy on the best show on television.
1
Screaming_Cockatiel Apr 8, 2026 +8
Please PLEASE don’t add a Kardashian to this season!
8
ronbiomed Apr 8, 2026 +18
I'll take it. Besides S1 Murder House, Coven and Apocalypse were my favorite seasons- get Stevie Nicks to guest in another episode and get Lily Rabe back, too. I would've been happy if they spun it off.
18
Putrid_Loquat_4357 Apr 8, 2026 +35
No love for asylum? Imo it's the best season.
35
Chaseism Apr 8, 2026 +10
I also think Asylum was the best season, but it was also a very dark one. I often think while well acted, written (except for the UFO), and directed, it was a very sad season. I think Coven did well because it was a great blend of horror, humor, and a sprinkling of camp.
10
facemanbarff Apr 9, 2026 +6
To me, Coven felt like coming up to the surface for some much needed air.
6
monsieurxander Apr 8, 2026 +21
Asylum is absolutely the best season. I don't know how Apocalypse can be anybody's favorite, but to each their own. lol
21
sozar Apr 8, 2026 +11
Apocalypse isn’t my favorite but I do like it a lot. It’s peak Ryan Murphy shenanigans. Introducing characters and setting them up for a few episodes before being like “hey look over there!” and turning it into a sequel to previous seasons is pure audacity.
11
Watson349B Apr 8, 2026 +9
For me it’s Coven, Murder House, Asylum, Apocalypse but those all have highs and lows and the rest of the series is mostly lows.
9
alexlp Apr 8, 2026 +3
William Murderhouse, Murderhouse, Murderhouse.

hayydebb Apr 9, 2026 +9
Never any love for Roanoke which I guess is a guilty pleasure of mine lol. I was obsessed with those ghost story shows my whole life so everything about that season was pure chefs kiss for me
9
veronica_deetz Apr 9, 2026 +4
I also love Roanoke, the tonal change mid season is great and I love the reality vs fiction aspect of it. The absurdity of the “let’s rouge our nipples!” ghosts vs the genuinely scary ghosts was great
4
fakemoosefacts Apr 9, 2026 +2
I love Roanoke, of them all it’s the one I remember the most clearly even though I’ve only watched it once.
2
DramaticAd698 Apr 9, 2026 +1
I actually loved Roanoke but found it a tad too gory
1
ronbiomed Apr 8, 2026 +4
It's the very next season on the list, banana nana fo fana ;)
4
Putrid_Loquat_4357 Apr 8, 2026 +7
Jessica Lange is brilliant in every season but imo her performance in asylum is her best. I might rewatch it lol
7
facemanbarff Apr 9, 2026 +2
That season was so f****** dark. Haha
2
Regula96 Apr 8, 2026 +4
I only watched a little bit of this show when it came out. Was ''Murder House'' the one with some dude in a black spandex suit that fucked the wife, and the wife thought it was her husband or something? Lol.
4
MrMattBlack Apr 8, 2026 +3
Yes, it was.
3
IndependentOk388 Apr 9, 2026 +3
Yawn

svogon Apr 8, 2026 +5
I'm watching the whole series for the first time and I swear if she screams "OH MY GOD" one more time, I'm throwing my TV through the wall.
5
DaftPump Apr 9, 2026 +2
How's the TV now?
2
Navynuke00 Apr 8, 2026 +7
Am I the only one who absolutely HATED Coven?
7
TomorrowWriting Apr 9, 2026 +6
Nope. Right here with you. Disappointing garbage.
6
Navynuke00 Apr 9, 2026 +3
But every time I bring up the racist aspects of that whole season, I get downvoted into oblivion.
3
TomorrowWriting Apr 10, 2026 +2
There’s quite a few problematic themes in it, a lot of them dressed up as edgy wokeness. I think that’s one of the main reasons the season doesn’t work very well. Too many overstuffed, ham fisted messages to the viewer rather than just letting a story be a story for the sake of it.
2
Tobias---Funke Apr 9, 2026 +2
Season 13 ??!!
2
SeiriusPolaris Apr 9, 2026 +2
Jesus, there’s been another 10 seasons of this??
2
No_Cauliflower_81 Apr 8, 2026 +5
Why not make an original season with a cast of that calibre? They already ruined one promising season by trying to make a Coven sequel. They should’ve just had their Coven spinoff like they were planning.
5
breyness Apr 9, 2026 +1
Why not just make it its own spinoff show?
1
w11f1ow3r Apr 9, 2026 +1
I really hope they bounce back because I felt like the last couple seasons didn’t really hit the same.
1
Flicksterea Apr 9, 2026 +1
Paulson looks immaculate.
1
focusgoal23 Apr 11, 2026 +1
Horror House and Coven were the only seasons I enjoyed. I liked Apocalypse but hated some parts. Apart from that: the Coven storyline is the only storyline that could get me back as a viewer, so I am hyped for this.
1
meg8278 Apr 11, 2026 +1
I liked coven. I'm glad that everyone is coming back this season. But by far Asylum was my favorite. I kind of wish it wasn't going to be about the coven this season but still had everyone in it.
1
maxwell_winters Apr 8, 2026
Ryan can keep it.

OzyOzyOzyOzyOzyOzy6 Apr 9, 2026 +1
I'm sorry, this show is STILL GOING?!
1
Masteryoda212 Apr 9, 2026 +1
I must be in the minority but even when the show was watchable I though Coven was easily the weakest season. It had next to no horror element.
1
Sea-Dragonfruit-6963 Apr 9, 2026 +1
Coven no horror element? How so?
1
Masteryoda212 Apr 9, 2026 +3
The show went from Murder House and Asylum to what was essentially a sorority house with a slight magic twist. The whole season was about as scary as the Real Housewives. Usually the saving grace of a Ryan Murphy show is that the set up is interesting, and then he flops on the finale. Even Asylum had a mediocre ending where the alien subplot appears and then disappears for no reason. Coven had nothing going for it to me from the start and got progressively worse. The only memorable things about the season were Queenie and Kathy Bates, but they could only carry the show for so long.
3
Sea-Dragonfruit-6963 Apr 9, 2026 +1
I mean, horror doesn’t necessarily need to be scary but the elements are undoubtedly there for it to count. I do agree with your general sentiment though for sure.
1
WolvesWithHalos Apr 8, 2026 -2
Oof. Knew this was coming. So disappointing, I was almost excited for this season.
-2
hyenamonkey Apr 8, 2026 +2
Same.  I’m really disappointed. They already did a Coven sequel, I was hoping for something new with the old crew…
2
Xerosnake90 Apr 8, 2026
There's a coven sequel?
0
hyenamonkey Apr 8, 2026 +8
Apocalypse is like 70% Coven sequel. I love Coven but I feel like we got what we needed there.
8
No_Cauliflower_81 Apr 8, 2026 +5
The first episodes of Apocalypse before the witches come in are excellent, what a waste of a great start.
5
RealJohnGillman Apr 8, 2026 +5
The *Apocalypse* season is a crossover season between *Coven* and *Murder House*, about the witches dealing with the anti-Christ from the ending of *Murder House*. There was also one episode serving as an epilogue to *Murder House*. In addition, one of the witches popped up in the *Hotel* season to be killed by the ghosts (the titular hotel of which operated exactly like the house from *Murder House* and the camp from *1984*: one of the many places around the world that could prevent spirits from passing on to the afterlife).
5
Xerosnake90 Apr 8, 2026 +2
I need to give the hotel season a watch. I saw Apocalypse and remember nothing. I did watch 1 - 3 a couple months ago and dropped it during freakshow
2
RealJohnGillman Apr 8, 2026 +3
The *Hotel* season is worth it for Evan Peters as James Patrick March: that performance had me asking why they hadn’t given him a role like that in the previous seasons.
3
Xerosnake90 Apr 8, 2026 +3
I'm interested to see that because I do not like his acting very much.
3
RealJohnGillman Apr 8, 2026 +2
Neither did I, over the first few seasons. Then that role changed my mind: it was exactly the right part for him.
2
Xerosnake90 Apr 8, 2026 +1
Interesting, I'll take a look. Thank you 🤙
1
RealJohnGillman Apr 8, 2026 +1
You’re welcome! Happy to make the recommendation.
