Idiots have no idea how much wealth the nasa investment in space and moon had generated. The trickle down in tech and science has seeded every industry in America. The idiots who usually say this are posting videos on phones and satellites that only were developed due to the push for space and moon.
12
VernBarty Apr 8, 2026 +199
We stopped going to the moon for 40 years and the problems didnt go anywhere.
199
Ready_Tale4679 Apr 8, 2026 +48
It’s been fifty years, but there has been other space missions since 1972.
48
Guardian_of_theBlind Apr 8, 2026 +7
yeah, but manned missions never went above a pretty low orbit.
7
Ready_Tale4679 Apr 8, 2026 +2
I think Anthony Anderson is implying space missions in general.

Does he think they just take all that money up into space and piss it all away? The money being "wasted" on space is actually paying the wages of god knows how many people, which then goes back into the economy.
40
SumpCrab Apr 8, 2026 +39
Aside from the jobs, NASA is responsible for breakthroughs in computing, materials science, and satellite technology, which have provided an incalculable economic benefit over the last 60 years. The modern world wouldn't look the same without it. We should invest heavily in science, including space exploration.
39
RustyNewWrench Apr 8, 2026 +14
Yeah, spot on. It's absolutely worth all the money that goes into it. And more.
14
Juanbond622 Apr 8, 2026 +3

NPVT Apr 8, 2026 +124
Trump asked for a fifty percent increase in the military budget. That's wrong.
124
TheChubbyGolfer66 Apr 8, 2026 +36
The military budget is roughly 15.0% of the federal budget. NASA is 0.35%. In dollars, that means the military budget is roughly 7 TRILLION!!!!!!!! Whereas NASA is 24 billion. In reality, NASA’s budget is less than half of 1% of the total federal budget .
36
Weak-Put3430 Apr 8, 2026 +4
Military funding is crazy high but 7 trillion is the total yearly expenditure for the whole government
4
fumar Apr 8, 2026 +9
NASA's budget is getting cut next year...
9
NPVT Apr 8, 2026 +6
Someone should tell Trump that he can bomb Iran from the Moon but only NASA can do it! The money will pour in.
6
natetheskate100 Apr 8, 2026 +27
Ok. Let's start with the defense budget. Then the tax system.
27
Prudence_rigby Apr 8, 2026 +97

exophrine Apr 8, 2026 +57
Multiple allegations of sexual assault, accusations going as far back as 2004. Some cases, charges were dropped; others cases, outcomes remain unclear.
57
vvilbo Apr 8, 2026 +4
Both criminal cases charges were dropped one civil case outcome unknown. I know what you said doesn't preclude what I said but it's pretty par for the case. Sure there is the whole men in power thing for the first two, but usually celebrities don't comment on civil cases especially settlements if that is what happened and understandably so.

Did you know that the Apollo missions led to the invention of the CAT Scan? And about 1000 other inventions we still use today? Did you know that the Apollo missions are credited with the EPA and environmental protections? Did you know the Apollo missions are credited with ending the Vietnam war? Investment in science is investment in Earth.

This is one of my favorite things to hear from the average person  Spend billions on war: “meh, whatever”  Spend a fraction of that on space travel: “WE NEED TO FOCUS ON THE PROBLEMS HERE”
6
Nythoren Apr 8, 2026 +6
Whew, thank god this story was published. I was going crazy wondering what Anthony Anderson thought about Artemis II.
6
CrimsonBuc Apr 8, 2026 +5
The “military operation” with Iran is wasting way more money. I’d rather put money into furthering humanity than impeding it.
5

There's plenty of money to do both!
18
sk4v3n Apr 8, 2026 +8
Luckily we can do multiple things at the same time. Also, getting most of the precious resources from elsewhere would help keeping the planet habitable.
8
ResponsibleType552 Apr 8, 2026 +8
I do see his point that we should be doing things for people here but you are 100% right in that we can do both. But we just choose not to
8

There is plenty of money it is just misallocated.
3

5
eggflip1020 Apr 8, 2026 +5
People don’t realize the amount of the stuff that is developed because of the space program. Oh just medical breakthroughs and MRIs and GPS and little things like that….
5
blueteamk087 Apr 8, 2026 +4
The Artemis program is a literal footnote in the U.S. budget.
4
DrDeboGalaxy Apr 8, 2026 +3
Could it not be said “Movie Industry wasting money, fix real problems” also?
3
BackItUpWithLinks Apr 8, 2026 +3
Welp, if anthony Anderson says it, I guess it must be true. Btw, he’s worth $25M ([link](https://www.celebritynetworth.com/richest-celebrities/actors/anthony-anderson-net-worth/)). I assume he’s giving it all away to fix earth problems?
3
SirRichardLove Apr 8, 2026 +6
Humans piss me off. We spend the tiniest amount of money on science and they lose their f****** minds. F*** all the way off.
6
NCC__17o1 Apr 8, 2026 +2
I’m sure there were folks that said this during the original moonshot. I think they were wrong then too. Things like this help foster a sense of progress, pride, and wonder. We have a lot of problems that need a lot of solving through a lot of communication and a lot of compassion. But that can’t be the only thing we focus on lest we get buried and exhausted in so doing. Things like this give us something to celebrate and reflect on. They remind us of how incredibly capable and transformative we can be when we work together toward a common goal. It reminds us that there’s an awful lot out there beyond this pale blue dot and, hopefully, helps to humble us and make us feel a little smaller in a way that might help us to step back, reframe our thoughts a little, and approach things with a mind made a little more fresh for having done so. 2 cents from someone just as irrelevant as the rest.
2
Dark-Ganon Apr 8, 2026 +2
Who cares what this rapist thinks? Hollywood has wasted a lot more money by ever hiring this a******, but you don't hear him complaining about that.
2
axlgreece5202 Apr 8, 2026 +2
Don't talk to me! Don't talk to me, criminal!
2
FangornLeghorn Apr 8, 2026 +2
Space exploration is a net benefit to humanity and drives innovation and progress, which makes life better for all. It’s wars and subsidizing corporations and billionaires that is draining us and stopping us from fixing anything.
2
theRobomonster Apr 8, 2026 +2
Seems like we could do both. Send people to space and tell corps and billionaires to kick rocks. Double net benefit.
2
SpaceMonkeyNation Apr 8, 2026 +2
[https://d2pn8kiwq2w21t.cloudfront.net/original\_images/infographicsuploadsinfographicsfull11358.jpg](https://d2pn8kiwq2w21t.cloudfront.net/original_images/infographicsuploadsinfographicsfull11358.jpg) Maybe Anthony Anderson isn't the smartest person in the room for this one.
2
Botched_Rapture Apr 8, 2026 +2
People are barking up the wrong tree. NASA's budget is just a sliver compared to all the outrageous bullshit our government does to screw people over. Meanwhile NASA advances medical and engineering science all while bringing people together in awe. Comments like these amount to nothing more than shitting on brilliant scientists and explorers just to look cool.
2
Ancient-Ad-2474 Apr 8, 2026 +2
Fixing earth’s problem would include a serious population reduction.
2
ChakkaJones Apr 8, 2026 +2
How about war ya creepo? That costs a pretty penny. Get fucked clown.
2
Smrleda Apr 8, 2026 +2
We can do both but sadly this administration and his republicans prefer to screw up this country.
2
EuphoricCrashOut Apr 8, 2026 +2
Not a joke, imo. It's the truth. Can't afford health services but you can find billions for war and millions for a trip around a moon that you've already been to? Baaaaad priorities.
2
60discpriest Apr 8, 2026 +5
Should the rapist really be talking about problems that need fixing?
5
Vfrnut Apr 8, 2026 +4
So some clueless guy thinks it’s a waste …🙄🤦‍♂️So much tech that has developed via the space programs , it’s a damned bargain !!
4
noctalla Apr 8, 2026 +4
Our inability to solve the world’s problems is not due to a of lack of money. It’s because we can’t agree on the solutions.
4
hidden_secret Apr 8, 2026 +2
Going to see comedians is a waste of money. Fix real life problems first.
2
Money_Launderer Apr 8, 2026 +2
I wonder if he was smarter when he was fat…
2
tacs97 Apr 8, 2026 +2
Dumbass is looking at the wrong budget. Pay attention to our DHS and military budgets. You’ll find plenty of ways to cut costs there!
2
Samwellikki Apr 8, 2026 +2
We didn’t go to the moon to bomb it We flew a much shorter distance and spent more money to end up costing us more money… to bomb people that’s didn’t do anything to us And killed school children That’s worth the $? The government doesn’t serve the people anymore (if ever). At least going to space broadens our horizons and pushes the limits of human exploration
2
True_Pirate Apr 8, 2026 +2
Here is my position. I love NASA and space science. However, if they said, we will not launch another mission until there is no more food insecurity and homelessness is eradicated, I would be fine with that. Yet, in reality, if they didn’t spend the money on NASA, it’s not like they would spend the money on anything worthwhile, so until the Pentagon passes an audit, I am all for spending a small fraction of the budget on NASA.
2
This_Elk_1460 Apr 8, 2026 +3
Nasa isn't the problem! The Pentagon hasn't passed an audit in a decade. Money goes in and just f****** disappears, not to mention how the military industrial complex is constantly ripping us the f*** off. Boeing charges the US military $12,000 for a soap dispenser! There's your f****** waste!

1
TheChubbyGolfer66 Apr 8, 2026 +1
The budget for NASA and Artemis II is roughly .35% of the Federal Budget. It always makes me giggle how few people know this. If you think something that takes up less than half of 1% of the budget is a waste….i think you better just zip it.

Trump’s golfing tab is now up to $100 million taxpayer dollars. I have a problem with that. But not the moon mission. He who controls the moon will control access to all the natural resources out in space. US can’t let China become the gatekeeper to space.

1
UnTides Apr 8, 2026 +1
NASA is always tight on the budget. They deal with expensive science, but if you are looking for waste in government (its there) look elsewhere... The black box of a military budget for starters. I don't support the current war, but America is getting its ass handed to it by Iran - yet we spend an incredible amount more and on the military industrial complex. Also why was Kash Patel flying around in a private jet to the Olympics ? Why did we spend $200 million on the president golfing this year?

Nasa gets approx 25B - they are in the bottom of depts in terms of what they get. Dept of Defense is the biggest waste of money. Has no checks and balances in terms of how much spending it does. DOGE cut costs all over and never touched DOD. There was a HQ to be built in Afghanistan but the completion date was set for January 2012, after the Marines were supposed to leave. Commanders on the ground realized what a waste 64k would be. Two Army generals and a Marine general all requested permission to stop construction, arguing the current plywood headquarters in Helmand was just fine. They were rebuffed by Maj. Gen. Peter Vangjel, then the deputy commander of Army forces in the Middle East and Central Asia. He wasn't thinking of military needs—just the military budget. Congress had budgeted money for 64k, and getting permission to do something else with the cash would require congressional approval, so "reprogramming it for a later year is not prudent," So because the money was approved work proceeded. In April 2013, the building was completed—and the Marines decided not to use it. When SIGAR inspectors visited a few months later, they found a fancy, empty building. The furniture still had plastic wrap all over it. So much waste... https://reason.com/2025/01/12/materiel-loss/

Basic-Record-4750 Apr 8, 2026 +1
He ain’t wrong but he ain’t right either. We get a lot of advances from the space program that trickle down to our daily lives, it’s not just about learning more about space. That said, some missions seem to be put on for show when the money could be spent elsewhere, and I have mixed feelings about SpaceX
