> “They said, ‘You are here, like the blacks and the Hispanics, to play the bad guys,'” Banderas told the publication about pivoting from Spanish movies to Hollywood productions. “The problem was a few years later I had a mask, hat, sword and cape and the bad guy was Captain Love, who was blond and had blue eyes.”
> “Even more important is ‘Puss in Boots,’ because it’s for young kids,” Banderas added about stepping into hero roles. “They see a cat that has a Spanish, even an Andalusian accent and he’s a good guy.”

which version do you have? I've got the "Fairy Tale Treasury" edition. Adapted by Jane Jerrard. Publications International, Ltd. 2002
In my book the cat tells everyone his master is the Duke of Carabas. According to the internet it's pretty much the same.
At the end there's an ogre and he convinces him to turn himself into a mouse by suggesting it's not possible and then eats him. I haven't seen the kids movie yet. Or if I did it was a long time ago. I'm thinking I need to see it. Either again or for the first time.

Anything and anyone BUT the inherent systematic way our country if not the entire world, works. Yeah, pretty much. Because it's easier to make an enemy out of something you can throw rocks at. Even then, Latino being a shortened version of latinoamericano is a fairly recent definition. Go back in American history and it would have been used to define any of the European-settled (and romance-speaking) people of the US, which would have included Spanish and French settlers and their descendants.

There are some who view “Hispanic” as those from Spanish American countries alone, while Spain itself is just a part of Europe. The idea has some gross origins, where the Spanish (or Latin Europeans in general) are seen as white while Hispanic people are brown.
