which version do you have? I've got the "Fairy Tale Treasury" edition. Adapted by Jane Jerrard. Publications International, Ltd. 2002 In my book the cat tells everyone his master is the Duke of Carabas. According to the internet it's pretty much the same. At the end there's an ogre and he convinces him to turn himself into a mouse by suggesting it's not possible and then eats him. I haven't seen the kids movie yet. Or if I did it was a long time ago. I'm thinking I need to see it. Either again or for the first time.

I watched that movie when I was a kid and *hated* Stallone’s character because Antonio Banderas character was so much cooler and should get to win in my mind. Maybe I was rooting for him because I’m Latino but I also thought Stallone was Latino back then. Turns out neither of them were lol

It's de facto Hollywood progression. Movie stars in the twilight of their careers usually make the transition from good guy to bad guy, or becomes the old sage/veteran who saves the protagonist. Or in the case of a few decades ago, they guest-starred on episodes of The Love Boat. LOL

Even then, Latino being a shortened version of latinoamericano is a fairly recent definition. Go back in American history and it would have been used to define any of the European-settled (and romance-speaking) people of the US, which would have included Spanish and French settlers and their descendants.

There are some who view “Hispanic” as those from Spanish American countries alone, while Spain itself is just a part of Europe. The idea has some gross origins, where the Spanish (or Latin Europeans in general) are seen as white while Hispanic people are brown.
