She was absolutely amazing in the Queen’s Gambit, but looks like death here. I almost didn’t recognize her. What happened to her? Is she part of the anorexia club? She looks really undernourished.

She looks fine it's just the pose/dress/lighting making her look pale and frail

It's so weird when people just jump to "buccal fat removal" when the rest of the person is also clearly very thin. She's a lot skinnier here just generally than she was in QG, losing fat from cheeks in normal for women in their 20's.

She was great in Close encounters of the third kind when she and her many sisters arrived on the mountain.

I am not sure what game you are playing. She wasn’t in Titanic, that was Samara Weaving. ATJ was amazing in Private Benjamin.

She has picked too many bad projects in the past years. She should look more into the spanish movie industry to do some prestige film and display some acting. What about that Almodovar film they wanted her on?

I loved The Queen’s Gambit and I used to find her a little interesting. But it seems like she’s up her own ass? Like a nepo without the nep.

No? I can dislike a woman without it being internal misogyny.

If only there were other sources of vitamin D… like you know, food.

Short of fatty fish there are pretty much no foods that provide enough DV of Vitamin D. UV Shrooms and Tofu are pretty good sources as well, but more than people would be comfortable eating daily.
It's why we fortify so many foods with Vitamin D.
Supplements are reliable but there are many other benefits of natural sunlight.

You’re not very knowledgeable are you?
“It is generally very difficult to get enough vitamin D from food alone. While some foods are naturally rich in it, they are not typically consumed in large enough quantities to meet daily requirements for most people.”

Knowledgeable enough to read whole articles instead of picking out only the bits that support my argument. Also, if I’m quoting a source, I link it.

“Is it best to get your vitamin D from the sun? Definitely not.
—David J. Leffell, MD, Yale Medicine dermatologist and chief of Dermatologic Surgery
“One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced in dermatology and in the world of skin cancer prevention has been a lot of misinformation about vitamin D metabolism.
There are claims that one needs to get a certain amount of sun exposure every day in order to produce enough vitamin D to be healthy. It’s just not true. The majority of people can get their vitamin D from nutritional supplements and from vitamin D-fortified foods.
There are some people (who are typically not dermatologists or experts in the biology of skin cancer) who have advocated for tanning to get vitamin D. But we know that UVB light causes skin cancer and that protecting yourself against it makes sense. As a doctor who treats patients who have melanomas, I want the general public to be advised that under no circumstances can the use of a tanning bed or tanning in general be justified on the basis of vitamin D. Take a supplement instead.”

This comment is genuinely a textbook example of how someone can quickly read a paragraph and take all the wrong things from it. The quote from the doctor, by the way, is stripped completely from his paper and replaced with a different paragraph.
First off, the vast majority of people get their Vitamin D from supplements outside of the sun, not food. How does this support your claim that getting it from food is best?
The reason dermatologists don't recommend getting all of your Vitamin D from sun exposure is it is not always possible with how our world works today. UVB Rays are at their greatest and the sun provides the most Vitamin D generation between 10am-4pm, the further away from that window and from the equator, the less Vitamin D production. That's simply not possible for the majority of the working class world.
Again, this is why so many foods are fortified with the same Vitamin D you would get in a pill. Unlike many supplements, the article is correct that the form of Vitamin D from a pill is pretty much identical to what your body will produce.
In the simplest terms, if you stand outside for 15 minutes a day at noon in Los Angeles, with your arms/legs/face uncovered, you're going to make enough Vitamin D. This doesn't even count the well over a dozen of positive physical and physiological effects of being in the sun. Vitamin D isn't the only nutrient produced with assistance from the sun.
You are correct it is good practice to protect yourself from UV rays with sunscreen always when possible, especially those with fair skin. In ideal conditions UVB will still assist in Vitamin D production.
Maybe the other user came off a bit rude, but they were completely correct in their response to your original post, as was I. You seem to have taken a 90 degree arc to position your argument.
Speak with your dermatologist to learn more.

Literal melanoma survivor, bro. Which is why I get a bit tetchy about people telling pale skinned folks to get some sun.
I said food was one way to get vitamin D, but I certainly in no way said food was better than supplements and specifically quoted an article that recommended supplements. My only point was that people shouldn’t be telling fair skinned people to tan.

Nothing of what you are saying relates to why people replied to you in the first place. But I am happy to see you are a survivor.
