my boyfriend and I (as well as his family) watch this show and love it! we have a collaborative note with predictions for each episode, and we also always do a lengthy debrief. this episode broke my boyfriend and I.
each element of this episode was blood boiling and infuriating. I'm sure this post will get any number of responses of, "this is just a show!," "if you don't like it, don't watch," and the like. but the thing we've loved about this show is the structure of the challenges, the difficulty of survival alone, and also the relationships between families in HQ. in our opinion, this show is difficult enough WITHOUT HORRIBLE ASS LUKE'S FAMILY AND THEIR STUPID-ASS FAKE CHALLENGE. for some this may be great TV, for us? this has potentially ruined the season.
I'm so sad that Rhoman's family fell for this. at no point were they suspect about how this "advantage," came about. Dallas should have at least asked Daniel what he wanted to discuss since that's the whole reason they went where the planted book was. and then, after Polly's family rooted through everything...Rhoman's family failed to question why they didn't just take the book. lastly, Rhoman's family failed to critically think about why Luke's family wouldn't want the video message. admittedly, they should have at least asked more questions.
my boyfriend also brought up a great point...after all that Polly's family has been through with getting tricked...why would they do this???? why would they not fess up about what happened??? I understand playing a game but why side with the strongest player (Luke)??
I genuinely don't understand Luke's family successfully playing everyone in HQ and getting away with speaking to everyone like they're less than.
if the producers step in and take that crate from the shoreline, we'll be so upset and potentially done with the show because it would mean they've sided with those evil men and co-sign their consistently shitty behavior, moral depravity, and terrible sportsmanship. if Luke wins post this move, I believe it would be unearned. let's hope the producers just take the crate and dump the goods maybe? or at least punish Luke??
Yeah, I hope that them putting something in the crate isn't allowed for some weird reason and it just gets left... =P I thought this was WAY too dirty of gameplay, and to someone who isn't actually hurting anyone (unlike Luke's family, why people align with him, who knows).
I know everything is clear from the outside, but I was wishing so much while the show was passing that Rhoman's family would think for a minute as to why Luke's family, not their friends, and their biggest competitor would knowingly give THEM a video message. There is no logical reason other than trying to make sure they have the ability to send a message. =(

THIS! I was screaming that (especially Dallas) would go “huh. They opened this box, saw it was a video message, and then CHOSE to trade it with us??? That’s real suspicious” but no

i agree with you. there is a difference between playing strategically and flat out cheating and i think production should have stepped in to stop the blatant cheating.

I think Luke's family should be disqualified for cheating. Only production should be allowed to make clues and game cards. I also think Polly should have to lose an item for her family going through Rhoman's family's personal things. Bottom line: Producers should step in because the game was ruined by Luke's family's stupidity and human fuckery! Dirty ass's!!

100% but it seemed like the producers played into it with the communication focused supply drop

Agreed...that was suspish.. all of a sudden there was a 'you can communicate with your family' challenge

I hope Rhoman sticks it out . There are many ways the game provides families to screw each other over . What Lukes's family did , should not be allowed .

I also hated this and I really can’t stand Luke’s brothers from the beginning. I don’t understand why anyone is working with them seeming how Luke is arguably the strongest player out there and his family has been unlikeable from the beginning. I do however enjoy someone who plays in a strategic/ possibly somewhat evil way at times from my years of watching survivor. I would be disappointed if production goes along with the rouse though and takes rhomans crate of supplies from his camp since the challenge card wasn’t put there by production. I would love to see Luke’s family’s attempt fail due to their oversight of production having to actually take the crate.

My one hope is the “w*****’s make it on screen” rule. I realized this episode that I’d barely seen Luke, just his brothers in the last 7 episodes. I’ve had a hard time even remembering who their survivalist was at times just to get a quick glimpse at Luke and go “oh yeah that guy is definitely their brother“. I’m wondering (hoping) if the producers/editors know it’s emotional/entertaining to see Daniel and David be absolute jerks in HQ so they show them, but Luke probably isn’t winning (or maybe even going final 4) then that is why his game in the wild has been mostly in the background compared to Roman, Polly, RJ, and Doug.

Isn't this also like, the 3rd time these douchenoodle s have done something shady in the headquarters? Why would anyone trust them? Regardless if Luke wins, his win will have a giant 💩 strain on it from his sorry ass brothers play.

I feel like it's suspicious that they can't up with this cheating plan and then all of a sudden production offers a video. I can only assume they're working together. And if this shit isn't handled, I'm done watching. It takes the fun out of it. Also if you can't win without cheating, you suck.

Not that suspicious. Last season they also had a challenge that would offer a way to communicate with loved ones.

Hoping that seeing what happens next time where Dallas says 'you messed up my chances of speaking to my son'' was because the lie was exposed and production did NOT take Romans fire making kit. I am rooting HARD for RJ and Roman so fingers crossed for them.
(I like Polly but sadly her family made me not root for her)

And the brothers concocted this plot with the fake Morse code c*** before they went on the show, Luke most likely knew about it and had no problem with it.

I enjoy this show, and I love some sneaky game play. Rhoman's family is very frustrating. They should definitely have questioned why they would have received the video message. I would think it odd that someone would give that up. They also have an advantage they haven't used yet. If they don't get on board with some type of game strategy they are going to lose. It's not going to be because they got tricked, it will be because they aren't playing the game in HQ. I don't think the producers will touch the box since they did not create this advantage, so it should still be there when everyone figures out they were tricked.

I'm curious why production didn't step in, and say that's a fake clue, not authentic to the game, and then disqualify all 3 of them?
And aren't there rules of sportsmanship they should be following? Because, pre-planning a fake Morse code clue, with a decipher, months in advance, it's very devious, and feels like they are cheating, its dirty. Just like when Polly's family changed the fake Morse code....so much for them trying to play an honest game 🙄
2 cards still need to be played, that could throw a big wrench into the finale. Rohman's family have a no communications between family and player for 4 hours card, and RJ's family have that intercept someone else package card....
I'm rooting for Rhoman or RJ they both have good families and deserve to win!

After watching every survival show out there I'm pretty sure that production had a hand in this.

Honestly, the show you were wanting to watch is alone or naked and afraid. This is about strategic gameplay between families while they watch their loved ones in the woods. This was about as strategic as you can get. If you’re watching Survivor 50, Devan’s and Christian did the same thing at tribal two episodes ago. They hid a fake immunity idol.

I don't watch Survivor because that's not really my vibe. I enjoyed the idea of survival that relies on how well or not so well your family can make relationships in HQ. I have never considered cheats in this game because imo, this game is severe enough without cheating!!!!! I don't want to watch a game with ruthless people who are trying to bring someone to their brink outside of the confines of the game. these guys are assholes and there's several other comments that agree FOR THIS SHOW (because people love to bring up tons of other shows that are irrelevant), this cheat was ridiculous and shouldn't be allowed.

It’s hard to call it a cheat when they didn’t break a rule. I guess I’m the kind of person you don’t like to play monopoly with since I always win.

It’s a bad look that it’s the two white contestants’ families stretching the rules against the two families with minorities. 🤦♂️

Yeah this is pretty disgusting for the producers to allow this snake behavior.. all three of the white families against the black contestants, when Luke clearly has the upper hand, sounds like US history. Ain’t nothing new.
