An Arkansas law mandating a monument displaying the Ten Commandments be placed on the grounds of the state Capitol violates the First Amendment’s establishment clause, a federal judge ruled. Wait. Is this the same law that resulted in the satanic temple having a statue on the capital grounds back in like 2014? Or did that law get repealed for being unconstitutional and they’ve now passed the same law again only a decade later after getting smacked down repeatedly in court last time?

Yeah, the Church of Satan won the case and the government is required to remove the 10 commandments statue. ETA: Same law, case took 8 years for a summary judgement!

Thank you for clarifying! So many people don't know or understand the difference between the two. And that difference is dramatic.

Without the Ten Commandments being prominently displayed in classrooms, I'm worried that children will start constructing effigies and monuments to other gods in between 3rd and 4th period.

What I don’t understand is - their frankly disgusting attempts to break the separation of church and state aside - why specifically the Ten Commandments? Why focus so much on the Old Testament instead of you know, the New Testament where Jesus is?
