i feel the same about jet flyovers at sports events and the like. When I lived in pensacola, a ton of kids in the school district were food insecure, 1/3 had no internet (even though half the district spent a ton of money on online curriculum) but they had the blue angels fly around every week or month or something.

In college I heard a talk from a group of people who got out of paying federal income tax by deliberately keeping their income below the minimum threshold. It was a reasonably large group (a few families) that bought a big house together and did as much as they could to share costs and minimize expenses, basically a small intentional community in Chicago. They were performance artists so not a lot of income to start with, and they lived as a group like that for some time, raising kids and everything. (Looks like there's a *very* sparse [wiki page about them, as performers](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goat_Island_(performance_group\)) ...I'm not sure if the whole group lived together or if just some of them did the communal living thing) It was their way to protest - as pacifists - how much the government spends on war. Say what you will but that's some serious commitment to your values.

The difference is that in real life the correlation is more closely linked between wealth and the amount of children you have. Poorer people have more kids. Poorer people also tend to be less educated. However being uneducated has zero correlation to potential iq of future offspring. Just like being ripped doesn't mean your baby is going to be born looking like Mr. Olympia. My point is that poor and "dumb" people can still produce "smart" offspring.

It isn't so they don't feel bad. It is because if too many students fail, the school gets less funding next year. Same with attendance and discipline, too many kids absent or in trouble leads to less funding next year. So now we have school administrations insisting on kids going to school sick and not getting in any trouble unless it gets so bad it can't possibly be ignored anymore. Meanwhile teachers continue to quit in droves and nobody can seem to figure out why. Gee, I wonder.

"When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure." ~ Goodhart's Law. Like how companies measured customer satisfaction by the length of calls. It made sense. Quick service = happy customers, right? No one wants to spend ages on the phone. They want their issues solved quickly. So it must follow that the faster the call, the better the service. But when call length became the target, customer service reps started prioritising speed. Which lead to bad customer service, because people weren't getting their problems solved quickly. They were getting fobbed off with the barest minimum, so that the customer service rep could mark the job complete, and make the numbers look good.

Before the explosion of private schools, and the lowering of standards for public schools, rich and poor alike got the same education. Private Schools are the bane to public education. If everyone goes to public education it is in the rich people’s best interest to make sure that education is done well. Now the money can leave and poor people get the shaft.

Many years ago, I was part of a protest in Leavenworth, KS outside the facility where Chelsea Manning was being held/incarcerated (protesting said incarceration). We were at a park near the prison, and a B-52 buzzed us. Like, it came down out of the sky towards us, looked almost like it might just crash into the ground, and then they pulled up. Probably they got under 500 ft. off the deck which is really low for such a large aircraft. That would also be against FAA regulations (not sure they would even care). Wish I had video of it, but yeah, it never made the news or anything. However, despite the troubling implications at such an act of intimidation by the military towards US citizens, it was really, really cool to see. People were freaked out though, like, I swear some people hit the dirt. It was nuts.

I’ve been using a new technique and I swear to god it’s actually working. I’ve been putting belt to f****** ASS for a decade with my dad and uncles and the rest of my MAGA family. Just data, words Trump says himself, and ramifications. They don’t care. I switched to telling all of them individually how thy were viewed when I was a kid. What they taught us younger boys and how to be a gentleman and a “real” man. And in the process of bringing these things up as nostalgia, I’ve been able to show my dad what he USED to be to me, to family, and to the world. Yes a conservative. But a conservative who wanted to conserve, and love, and treat people with kindness, etc etc. I’ve kind of just gone back to appealing to the selves that they were going to be, before cunts like Steve Bannon, Trump, Roger Stone, Newt, Limbaugh, etc…used their own kindness and psychology to rip their manliness away. Saw my MAGA dad cry for the first time in a decade last week. He talks about politics less and less and more about doing stuff together and talking about our now very separate and different lifestyles. The conversations have more love now. Sometimes it takes personal sacrifice of our own peace to show love to people who are full of hate. But a lot of those people have been tricked and conned into losing their love. Losing their ability to think.

On one hand, I admire your commitment to converting these people in your life back to their better selves, and am glad that you seem to have found a way to get through to them. On the other, it’s just not in my nature to expend time and energy on getting through to people who don’t see or care that they support a rapist felon: one who continues to make it less and less safe for me and my family to be outdoors simply because of the color of our skin. Understandably some people's circumstances force them to be in proximity with these people more than they'd like, in which case it can be best to keep your head down and endure as best you can. But I can't stress enough, again, that on a societal level, these people need to be treated as an enemy that would see all of us dead or left in ruin. It is not exaggeration or hyperbole at this point. It is utter insanity that in modern times concepts such as dispensationalism or eschatology are becoming relevant to us as a species, but this is the madness we're talking about here and the MAGAs are just the foot troops of the powers that are pushing us into this territory.
