From the article:
The U.S. Army has suspended the crew of AH-64 Apache helicopters that did a cringeworthy fly past of MAGA star Kid Rock’s Nashville home.
The helicopters flew 50 miles from Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Nashville, then hovered just beyond the edge of Kid Rock’s swimming pool.
U.S. officials told NBC News that a probe has been launched and the bonkers stunt earned the crew a suspension.

But to the point of Kid Rock, I don’t think it is even possible that they did this without specific orders and flight plans. How would they just know where Kid Rock lives? How was Kid Rock just hanging out there waiting on them?

Yes! A pilot does not decide where he’s flying and they sure as shit can’t just swipe the keys and take off.. there were multiple crews involved before that chopper took off.. they had flight orders from a commanding officer, a fuel crew, a pre determined flight plan..

The military often doesn’t really micromanage some flights to that level.
Like the flight going up will be preplanned and authorized but it’s a general familiarity/keep flight hours up plan. So you can mostly go where you want *within reason* and not a lot of people check up on what you did.
We had F-18s out of Lemore than would be getting hours in and they’d just be meandering and sightseeing around the Sierras, Death Valley or maybe down to the Mojave. That’s where you get the famous SR-71 story of them mogging an F-18's speed check.

They, like Air Force and Navy/Marine Corp aviators are trained to believe that they are the best and they begin to actually believe.
People look at the “Top Gun” movies and see a bunch of men acting like high school jocks. Having served with some of them, I think the characterization is not far off for many of them.
If memory serves, military aviators have to obtain a regular FAA license too. So after these guys get suspended (unless Hegseth interferes), maybe the FAA will take a look.

Ha so their lie yesterday that it was a routine training flight was a lie? Not going to speak on that part huh?
42
MackrageMar 31, 2026
+31
It was always a lie. Having been in an aviation unit, knowing the logistics and restrictions of flight paths, authorization to deviate from those designated flight paths, air traffic coordination, scheduling of flight time (all pilots need a specific number of flight hours to maintain their flight status, so those who need flight time get priority), maintenance appropriation and checks before a flight, and cost assessment for the flight itself are all considered when they go up and start their flight.
All of this was to do a buzz by of a civilian residence to then buzz a protest is some major red flag level shit that should have had them suspended immediately. No slaps on the wrist this time, but immediately grounded and sent back to the simulator.

Sending them back to the simulator isn't enough. They need to have their wings revoked.

TIL pilots can just go for a joyride in helicopters without anyone noticing they stole a helicopter. Or did someone higher up approve this? How would these pilots even know where Kid Rock lives to do this?

You’re onto something. This whole thing stinks worse than his music. If they are in fact the same crew that zinged the No Kings then there’s something dangerously unregimented in what these clods can just up and do.
4
toot_a_luMar 31, 2026

My thoughts exactly. How did these pilots know where Kid Rock live?
As member of a military family, I know there is no deviation from orders without serious consequences. I find it difficult to believe these pilots were willing to risk their military record for a washed up musician.
Hegseth or Trump made the call and now pilots are being "punished" for their actions. Which, I also don't believe they are.

This kind of stuff happens ALL THE TIME - not just the military but police, firefighters, and other "services" that rely on taxpayer dollars. Only this time around, it caught traction on social media and got the rightful outrage. Those involved should definitely be punished more severely - if only to become a cautionary tale so this stupidity is minimized - but certain that once the furor dies down, it'll be slap on the wrist.

Kegsbreath has just lifted the crew's suspension and told them "carry on, patriots!"
I's so hard to imagine pilots who have been through the hyper-competitive flight school selection process, the long and rigorous training, and with their futures as aviators on the line, doing this on their own without WH bullying them. But what do I know?

They knew where to go, so it must have been pre planned. And regardless of politics, no pilot would throw their career away just so a washed up has been could have a photo op.
Someone authorised them to do it, and either the base commander or someone higher found out and was pissed, or they didn't expect it to make the news. Either way, the whole thing will get quietly forgotten about.

Our military members are not serious people. They're not true warriors. They are suffering from the same American disease that too many people have. And the apparatus itself is just a grift for the defense Industrie. We can't fight real wars, and that's becoming as plain as the nose on our face with this debacle in Iran. .

I’d like to believe this isn’t just pageantry by the military to appease the noise….but I’m skeptical. Maybe someone with a military background can comment and speak to how seriously this might be taken on base or in leadership.
I’m also wholly amused that KR’s need to post this video on the internet may in fact be the catalyst for response by the military. If discipline is administered to those involved, what a completely irrelevant person to ruin a career over.
