A sheath of ionised gas enveloped the vehicle, causing a planned radio blackout of over six minutes at the peak of re-entry stress.

I'm going to miss following this. Such a fun distraction. So glad they are home safe and sound.

Hopefully the first of many more to come

> Such a fun distraction. Even for them.

The event the whole human civilization should’ve been following instead of the Iran war … sad that it was overshadowed. Maybe the next moon mission gets more hype and traction

Not gonna lie, I was surprised it got as much attention as it did. Pretty cool.

So glad everything went as planned and the astronauts can return to their families! What an achievement!

No idea mate, trying to get other peoples opinions

Just asking questions huh?

Can you share that footage and explain A+B why it is fake, with proofs etc If not, it’s obvious that you’re talking shit

Simply asking other peoples takes on it.. if you haven’t seen it then I really cant be arsed talking to you about it, you come across as quite rude, too many shandys last night huh

Exhausting mindset applied publicly to an otherwise refreshing bit of news

Does anybody know if they recover the main chutes?
5
NoCard1571 Apr 11, 2026 +2
They do, they mentioned after splashdown that one of the boats would tow the capsule + recover the chutes

True-Award-5901 Apr 12, 2026 +1
Thank you, I missed that because of inconvenient time zones. The smaller chutes they cut during descent are probably not recoverable, are they?

Yea i wondered about that too... I'm guessing probably not considering how fast they were moving when those opened? But who knows, maybe they kept an eye on them somehow

They could put a tracker on them but I imagine they could land very far from the splashdown point...

Tu comprend rien, c'est la Lune qui est plate.

Gareth009 Apr 12, 2026 +3
It’s historic for folks who weren’t old enough (or born) to experience the original moon missions.

A major achievement I would usually be on the edge of my seat for stained by everything else

We’ve gone around the moon already. What is “historic” about this time?
-2
NoCard1571 Apr 11, 2026 +3
It's the first time in the twenty-first century (and in about 50 years), the furthest humans have ever flown from earth, first woman and POC to go the moon, first picture of a lunar eclipse from the far side, first time certain lunar features have been seen by the naked eye, and overall, a trip that marks that start of a new golden era for space travel, including multiple landings and construction of a moon base over the next decade.  I'm sure there's much more than that even, but there's a lot to celebrate.

It's the first manned mission of the Artemis series, which paves the way for a moon base, we studied parts of the moon never seen directly by the eye, conducted science not done before (like the avatars), and had other first milestones, even though we've gone to the moon before. Not to mention 50 years is a long ass time, so the mission is historic from that alone.

Such a waste of money

It takes a minute to Google "scientific discoveries due to apollo mission." (Hint: That tabletop microwave you use today is a by product of the research related to space missions in that era. So are water purifiers)

Many scientific experiments, discoveries, and inventions we use today are because of space missions. Here some good examples: 1. Camera Phones from CMOS sensors 2. Memory Foam 3. Materials for scratch resistant lenses for glasses 4. Battery Powered Tools 5. Thermometer for your ears 6. Carbon Capture Systems to purify air 7. Humanoid Robots 8. Long distance wireless high speed communication 9. Water purification 10. Freeze Dried Foods
