I don't think there were any options for victory from the beginning. It seems the Trump government didn't even have defined goals that they wanted to achieve with the attack in Iran. They just started dropping bombs on them and hoped that somehow something positive would come out of it. The old school neo-cons were evil but at least they knew what they wanted and went into war prepared to make it happen. For example, H. W. Bush assembled nearly a million US and allied troops to drive Iraq out of Kuwait. For Trump to actually win a war against Iran, he would have needed an even bigger force. (But with no chance for any allies to help out, after how he treated them.)

I suspect a large number of our special forces will be captured by Iran and then tortured and paraded up and down the streets. What will MAGA say about the War with Iran when this happens? Trump will be the 21st Century Version of Jimmy Carter!
