I just discovered ‘As We See It’ on Amazon Prime.
The show is about three roommates in their twenties on the autism spectrum. I feel this show could have gone somewhere, had it been on a television network and not a streaming format.
Seeing as two of the actors, went on to be main characters in better quality/financed tv shows, such as 'Not Dead Yet' and 'Animal Control', this show definitely had some decent acting quality in it.
It's a show that could certainly have opened peoples awareness to those on the autism spectrum. Sadly Amazon chose to go down a different route, such as with Lord of the Rings.
I certainly hope another streaming format or station, takes this programme on again, in the future.
Its from Jason Katims (Roswell, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood), so it should be decent. I've watched most of Rick Glassman's 'Take Your Shoes Off' podcast and have been aware of the show since before it was even released and on paper it sounds good, but its just too network and cheesy looking for me. It's preaching to the choir with its awareness on autism too.
Maybe I'll give it a shot one day though...

I definitely recommend it.
It's an interesting show. It's not cheesy and there is no comedy, like you would expect in this type of show.
It more focuses on their disabilities and how those abilities affect others, such as their aid.

Maybe "no comedy" in the classic setup-punchline sense, but still plenty of laughs. At least in my opinion. It's really a wonderful show, and your comparison to This Is Us is spot-on.

How cheesy is it compared to the trailers? They're what put me off the show.

Well I have just finished the show. I have never seen a trailer for it, so I cannot comment.
But I would put it on the same parr as 'this is us'.

I watched this show when it came out, as I have been a long time fan of Rick's. Absolutely blown away by how well done it was and never rarely hear it mentioned. It did an excellent job at representation and real life experience.
Solid post! A hidden gem, indeed!

I only found it last night, by accident.
I wish there was more episodes, it's rare a show like that, has me so glued to it.

Watched it recently for the first time and I think it's a mixed bag.
I liked the characters and most of the storylines, but the drama in it was a bit overdone, especially the romantic subplot involving the caretaker.
Rick Glassman's character was pretty interesting and my favorite of the bunch.
