In the South about a third of white households owned slaves. It wasn't all just the super-rich who owned hundreds. Some families even shared ownership of a slave. So it was an aspirational goal for whites, and its maintenance a bedrock component of white supremacy. Which Alexander Stephens went into in his [Cornerstone Speech](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornerstone_Speech). Even whites who didn't own slaves still saw its preservation a key bulwark against social and legal equality for blacks they considered innately beneath them.

I lived in TN recently, and some of the white parents in our school district threatened teachers with physical harm and broke up a school board mtg over their children learning about Ruby Bridges. Their entire economic system was built around slavery. In many ways it would be like banning gasoline. Sure there's alternatives, and it wouldn't impact everyone evenly, but it's hard to even imagine what that would look like to your average joe. And really it wasn't just about one aspect. Politically, socially, economically, racially it was intertwined in all of it. It was their identity and affirmation to their self worth.

There was a lawsuit that was just filed against ASU so we'll see how that plays out What we know right now is there is a video of Erika Kirk talking about the event (Unfuck America) and saying she wanted TPUSA ASU people to counter-table them but she was pissed off because they weren't. Allegedly after this the unfuck America event ASU had scheduled got cancelled and a TPUSA event took its place with both Tucker Carlson's old writer that got fired from fox for racist comments such as calling black people "Jet black congo n words (hard r)" and Jack posobiec, Steve bannon's side kick and author of the book "Unhumans" where he talks about how Republicans need to use the tactics of Franco and Pinochet against the 'unhumans'. You guys should read it it's wonderful and even more unhinged than I could communicate here.

Whenever I see the words “Libertarian Utopia” I automatically think of the city of Rapture in Bioshock. People have no grasp of history. We have *already* tried total free market economics - that was the 19th century, the age of Boom and Bust - it caused so much political and social instability that the Laws that were brought in to stop it weren’t so much to stabilise the economy, as to stop the mob from rising up and beating capitalsts to death in front of their families. We’ve *done* this. Well given the circles Jack used to run in before becoming more mainstream and cleaning up his image, that would check out.
