“Nigerian Air Force strike targeting jihadi rebels hit a local market in northeastern Nigeria, killing over 100 residents and injuring many others, a rights group and local media reported on Sunday. Officials confirmed a misfire but did not provide details.”
This is a tragedy 😞

What in the actual f***. This would have been a world headline (which does absolutely no justice to the people who literally were shopping one minute and thenfucked died) but instead it's buried under the headlines of other assholes trying to kill more.

It would be a world headline if it would have happened somewhere that matters.

Same with school shootings in the US, who cares.

You have a school shooting and nobody panics because it's all part of the plan, but you shoot up one little CEO in New York and everyone loses their minds.

Nah this would be a world headline. With on the ground coverage from major news networks. I remember when school shooting would be in the public eye for months. Now you're lucky to hear about them beyond a headline.

You’re right but like, probably before COVID. maybe even before 2016.

This kind of thing has happened every now and then for decades - why would it be a world headline? Always tragic, but nobody is trying to bury this.

Tragedy is right, and “misfire” feels like such a cold, vague word for wiping out a market. At minimum, there should be an independent investigation, not just a press release.

Considering this is in Northeastern Nigeria, that would suggest they were aligned with Boko Haram which is/was part of ISIS so make of that what you will.

20 years ago nobody would have ever heard of a bombing in africa unless a UNESCO aid convoy was hit. We had Internet but they certainly didn't.

Well, his post is valid and accurate...Many people are still not aware of the "My Lai massacre" in Viet Nam where soldiers tortured, mulitated and slaughtered over 500 civilians. Or worse, the barbaric "Operation Phoenix", also in Vietnam, where the US military murdered thousands of civilians to show a high body count of the enemy because the US had started losing the war from day one and they desperatly wanted to look like heroes.
They tried to cover-up both mass murders - and totally failed. But there were even more….The Army did the same sadistic shit in Iraq and Afghanistan where US soldiers dismembered those they killed to actually take body parts for souvenirs....These examples are completely true but I bet **most Americans have never heard of those mass murders even with Internet or News reports.**

This is, sadly, a weekly occurrence in Nigeria. Kidnappings of hundreds, raiding of schools, bombings etc.

Even the world itself is violent lol.
Earthquakes, hurricanes, volcanoes
Poisonous and venomous plants/animals
Animals kill each other every day for resources
Nothing about existence is peaceful.

How many more Jihadis does a “mistake” like this create?
103
zaviex7 hr ago
+7
Probably none because the jihadis kidnap kids and kill people at the same spot. The people in that region have been brutalized like hell from all sides. Boko haram has been terrorizing them for years and then when the government responds it kills them too with poor targeting. However if they acted to join the jihadi movement, they would do that already.

Often, military action just causes more tragedy and more anger, which leads to more rebels.

The US has the most sophisticated military and intelligence apparatus in the world and they did the same thing very recently, hitting that girls school in Iran.
The sad reality of war is mistakes like this are inevitable. Civilians suffer the worst in any war.

A couple hundred, supposedly. The actions in Nigeria have been pretty under reported, as is sadly typical for all things Africa related. The US military strikes against Boko Haram back in December the US claims were a success, but how much do we really trust what the Hegseth led department says about anything anymore?

Absolutely insane that at least 100 people died in Nigeria and your knee jerk reaction is to talk about one death in Lebanon. Truly some people only care about dead people if they can use them as a weapon against people they hate.

I can’t believe a middle eastern country killing civilians would make someone think of another middle eastern country doing the same on the same day.
