Isn't there a UN meeting going on in New York right now? Couldn't the entire world just unanimously agree to ban fireworks as completely useless?

But how would we celebrate a worldwide ban of such monumental importance?

Here, in India, people burst fireworks for everything. Every few days there are fireworks celebrations. Festivals (most of them and we have several), cricket victories, political victories, politician birthdays (local small time nobodies), political collaborations, weddings, births, regular birthdays, new year and sometimes, just because there's a party. There's little too no enforcement because it's associated with religion, so it's a delicate topic. And you know what, it's great. We like our air toxic and everyone constantly fighting respiratory illnesses. I can't imagine why you would want to ban something that is so much fun. You're such a killjoy. /s

it's a cultural thing here, it will never happen, fireworks are now deeply embedded in Indian culture, also they give jobs to tens of thousands of people who manufacture and sell, infact the village my family is originally from are known for their handmade fireworks, it's a thing of pride, although I agree there needs to be something done about the non existent safety standards

Yes and some Indians bring that “culture” to the other countries and use fireworks at 2 in the morning while people are trying to sleep

There a few more pressing issues in the world right now, don't ya think champ?
1
doshe002 Apr 23, 2026 +7
Sure, but those 'pressing issues' stay locked in a stalemate while the US, China, and Russia juggle their vetoes. Must be nice to see the world in such simple terms, champ.

Simple terms being "fun things are not useful beep boop computing solution to ban fun"

Imagine being so basic that you need toxic smoke and loud bangs to have fun. They're useless and ruin the environment.

I think the answer to the original post is likely more on the side of "lets work on safety standards in India", rather than "lets universally ban fireworks on earth"

Ugh imagine being so basic that you are entertained by flashy colourful lights and loud bangs.. as opposed to a true intellectual like me.. * *jorks it to furry h******
