Was that a sketch or just a legit reenactment. It's getting hard to tell.

How do you make fun of a woman who decided to stay with her husband when it is proven in a court of law that he was banging a p*** star four months after you gave birth to his child?

I very much would just love to know how the dude who wrote this song feels about it now. He had quite the rough time himself.
2
emilygoldfinch410 Apr 12, 2026 +15
*crying all alone on the bedroom floor and he's hungry! I was once in a car full of women at least 10 years after this song came out. We didn't really know each other that well. This song came on the radio and we all started singing along. Funny how some lyrics stay with you!

True! And I do love the O’Jays.
1
Automatic_Soil9814 Apr 12, 2026 -5
So funny you bring that up. I had just been thinking of Bone Thugs. The name Bone Thugz n Harmony sounds like a good name, but then the individual names sounds so ridiculous.  Layzie bone? Do you really want to be called lazy your entire career? Krazie bone? Sure, there’s always gotta be a crazy person in the group. Bizzy bone? What is he, productive? ADHD? The whole “ bone” theme is really falling apart here. Flesh n bone? I feel like the immune system isn’t even holding together.  What about funny bone? The group could have a guy with a sense of humor and it’s the only name that actually fits the ___ bone convention. The whole thing makes no sense.

It was probably not an issue, cheating typically involves the threat of loss and she knew very well how uninspiring a Trump banging is.

The marriage and child are just business transactions in their world. They are both ruthless, money grubbing, narcissists.
61
Thin_Literature_1520 Apr 12, 2026 +3
Exactly. Many many first wives have done the same. Kennedy (all Kennedy wives for that matter), Clinton, Trump. It’s kinda the standard for marrying a politician.
3
JGG5 Apr 12, 2026 +17
Given his numerous very public affairs during his previous marriages, I’d argue that she knew (or should have known) exactly what she was getting into.
17
TXteachr2018 Apr 12, 2026 +5
Similar to Hilary Clinton and Jackie Kennedy. They knew their husbands' likelihood of infidelity.
5
eatyrmakeup Apr 12, 2026 +2
And all of this to avoid, y’know, working. This idiot put herself on retainer to be the last in line when it comes to the death payout.

She's a Russian Assset... did everyone miss the report a few months back saying she was in direct talks with Putin?! She literally has a direct line to him. She doesn't leave because her mission isn't done yet. It’s just business to her…always has been. She knew exactly what she was getting into and has made her millions off it. The Trump legacy is built on lies, greed and slime and unfortunately a lot of “Americans” are ok with that.

She's absolutely heinous and deserves all the criticism coming her way. That said... I don't know if this factors in her thinking, but if I were in her shoes, I'd be very worried about accidentally falling out a window or drinking polonium tea if I tried divorcing him. I don't think it's crazy that she stayed with him because I do think he'd have her killed if she tried leaving.
1

Ha! They literally cried and did a sonnet when Hillary lost the presidency.
-1

Hillary dealt with infidelity but she was actually a real politician with numerous accomplishments. Melania literally plagiarized a speech from Michelle Obama. You can’t compare the two. They’re an entire entirely different weight classes.

When I was in high school, a friend and I were watching the Best of Dana Carvey SNL compilation. While he was playing Bush Sr., my friend’s dad came in and watched the sketch with us and afterward he said “I’m not sure why that’s supposed to be funny; that’s just how it happened.” Years later I had the same thought watching Matt Damon play Cryin’ Kavanaugh. It’s been hard to tell for a long time
47
VoteForLubo Apr 12, 2026 +22
Tina Fey’s Sarah Palin was the same way. Just a reenactment.
22
newtoallofthis2 Apr 12, 2026 +82
SNL should do a sketch where Trump and his administration are both competent and kind. Would be far more jarring satire than they've done to date.

This was so tame…where’s the vicious? The problem is they need to be more absurdist. Do Animal Farm with a hog Trump judging piglits in bikinis…and Ivanka supporting him….
551
delaydude Apr 12, 2026 +110
Pretty much can't be vicious against the Trump family, everything is warranted.
110
Ok-Temporary-8243 Apr 12, 2026 +57
I don't know about vicious but there's only so many times you can make a joke about Trump bad like this. He's actively trying to destroy a nation of people so it's quaint to also point out he's a shitty husband and she's a shitty wife
57
Librarian_Zoomies Apr 12, 2026 +19
That's exactly why absurdist mockery would work so well. For a normal politician a mention like what SNL is doing would be bad. Trump and his circle are so openly corrupt and morally bankrupt that a standard mention of it doesn't hit. Because we all know, and they use it like a badge of honor that they can get away with it. It needs to go beyond that to a more primal place of mockery.
19
Ok-Temporary-8243 Apr 12, 2026 +16
To each there own. Trump is doing so much heinous shit that the whole "lol they look and act funny" feels like whitewashing at this point. I get it's liberal catnip but I just don't get any humor from it anymore when reality is way more aburdist
16
Samanthacino Apr 12, 2026 +11
"Trump is such a goober!" while children get their legs blown off. I've been fond of SNL UK's jokes though, like the recent one where they said Mark Zuckerberg should kill himself in his bunker like Hitler did.
11
Devastator_Hi Apr 12, 2026 +8
I feel you. I can hardly watch SNL or the Daily Show with all the politics now because as ridiculous as it all is, it’s not even funny to me anymore, it’s straight up depressing.
8
MissNancy1113 Apr 12, 2026 +5
Jon Stewart pointed that out a few weeks ago. The whole thing seemed like there was nothing to joke about.
5
WakingWaldo Apr 12, 2026 +27
There has to be someone -- some executive or something -- preventing the sketch writers from going whole hog on Trump. We know that SNL is capable of quality work, but IDK, these tame sorts of things scream "please don't go too far."
27
cybin Apr 12, 2026 +2
That would be Lorne Michaels.
2
JediTrainer42 Apr 12, 2026 +24
They need to start portraying Trump as the disgusting baron from Dune. The same show had John Goodman portraying Linda Tripp at one point during the Clinton scandal. SNL, where are your teeth?
24
Media-critique Apr 12, 2026 +11
Should be taking notes from SNL UK. They mocked Melania pretty well
11
Legitimate-Public-56 Apr 12, 2026 +17
People weren’t groaning because it was vicious. I think they were groaning because it was making these psychopaths look good. they need to stop already with trump skits. They are not funny and its having the opposite effect. They shouldn’t even show that trump actor at all, he hasn’t made me laugh even one time. It’s better to concentrate on the people around Trump and show how stupid they are. I actually would’ve loved a skit of Iranians politicans laughing their asses off from all the tollbooth money coming in.

That’s what werkend update is for. “Seen here smiling after firing a black general”. Werkend update is their arm. I am sick of snl trump skits. It is like watching the news. I think Lorne got the word to tone it down from his right wing overlords. Not doing any trump satire would be too noticeable so we get this garbage. It is a sad time in the states. Free speech is gone.
1
Foolgazi Apr 12, 2026 +1
JAJ has said in interviews that he’s politically neutral on Trump. I don’t think Lorne’s hand in the tone of those sketches is as big as most people like to claim.
1
nonsensestuff Apr 12, 2026
Yeah it’s absolutely baffling to me how much it feels like they’re phoning it in with the political sketches these days— they went harder at Obama in his second term. Kimmel has better Trump sketches than anything they’ve done this last year or so.
