Posted by SineQuaNon001

I'm glad they've properly included the mini series. Last time it was streaming somewhere it did not.

Mini-series being missing always felt like starting a book at chapter 3. Now I can finally recommend BSG without a 5-minute “watch order” explanation. Maybe time for a full rewatch.

Couldn't agree more. I wanted to watch the show semi recently for the first time, so I started at episode 1, like you do, with shows. And I thought oh ok, it's some in medias res storytelling, sure. But then going back to the miniseries after finding out how important it was completely changed the tone for the entire show. It's not just a dire situation, it's 9/11 era space post apocalypse.

Yup! I forgot season 1, episode 1 isn’t the beginning. I bought the show on sale a couple months ago for like 5 a season. I started that first show and I was like.. ohhhh… Guess how much the “pilot” episode cost? 15 bucks. Assholes… the pilot should be included with season 1. I read the pilot on Wikipedia. I’ll never purchase the pilot for 15.
5
alecsgz 13 hr ago +5
> I read the pilot on Wikipedia You can also read the pilot with sounds and moving pictures for free...matey
5
FalconBurcham 12 hr ago +5
The pilot wasn’t free on Prime. I don’t know how to sail the high seas without committing a traceable felony 😂

jl_theprofessor 1 day ago +18
I agree with you but I will also say episode 1 is an explosive introduction tot he series if it’s the first thing you watch.
18
goda90 13 hr ago +3
Yeah, "33" was my first exposure and I was hooked.

jprennquist 22 hr ago +2
I grew up on the original. But I was busy with young kids and career when the sequel series came out. I have never watched a minute of a single episode. Been saving it, I guess. So with that said - it may or may not be relevant that I devoured the original series(es) and film - can you share a watch order with me? Or does it work to just do it straight through? I have paramount+. Not exactly proud of that but I can't let go of the Star Trek shows and movies.

mrtwidlywinks 20 hr ago +3
Watch the mini series first—when compiled it's essentially a movie. For some reason, Sci-Fi channel decided to cut it into dozens of 5 minute "episodes" and release it that way. After the mini series watch seasons 1-4. You'll see a familiar face from the original series on the episode about the prison ship. Save yourself a treat and don’t spoil it for yourself, I never watched the original series and found out almost decades later the actor stared in the original series. There's a movie "The Plan" to watch after the series, as well as "Razor" which I think you can watch after season 2 but I'm not sure on that one. There's other media like Blood and Chrome but I can't attest to their quality.

rebbit, not a sequel
1
jprennquist 14 hr ago +1
Got it. But this reminds that there was a sequel to the (original) TV show where the Galactica comes to earth in 1980. It was great for a kid but I don't think critics liked it very much.
1
RainaElf 10 hr ago +1
it was awful
1
Cervix-Pounder 10 hr ago +1
Weird, both times I've streamed it here in the UK the miniseries was included there in s1 before 33
1
flcinusa 10 hr ago +1
That said, 33 might be the best non pilot S01E01 going, catches you up quickly and drops you into non stop drama. You feel the tension and how high the stakes are. Perfect.

Katee sackoff is on YouTube doing a watch/reaction vids with husband and is going to have other cast coming .... It's kind of entertaining to hear behind scenes stuff

Her and Marks podcast is great and so is his and Kevin smith's. Weird crossover with Clerks and BSG.

Hence why I said "the ad option exists"

ads x10, but FREE is FREE

Pluto is pretty good about limiting Commercial breaks in TV shows to their actual s**** only. Unlike movies.

I mean I was just hoping it was going to be on one of the 7 streaming services I already subscribe to, sorry for being so entitled
54
SineQuaNon001 1 day ago +3
Netflix, Disney, Hulu, HBO... what are the other 3? (Just curious lol 😂 I get Pp for free with Walmart)
3
Scoobydiesel87 1 day ago +7
I know it was a joke but it is wild to think of all the services…. AppleTV+, Shudder, Prime and Peacock are some others I have on top of the three(4?) you listed.
7
SineQuaNon001 1 day ago +1
Prime definitely. Apple and peacock, ok. Shudder I feel is too niche all only horror. But still that's 7 at least lol 😄
1
Scoobydiesel87 23 hr ago +1
I personally love shudder but I’m a huge horror guy lol. I could also think of Criterion, crunchy roll and stuff like Tubi. So many damn services it’s wild. And I bet plenty I can’t think of or we’ve never heard of ha. Hell that’s not even counting Kanopy and hoopla either! Too many damn services….
1
CivilianDuck 19 hr ago +1
Crunchyroll is growing less and less niche as anime popularity grows. Here in Canada, there's some US services we don't get, so we have alternative services or bundled. Hulu is not available in Canada, but we get Hulu shows through Disney+. We also don't have HBO Max, but we have an alternative service called Crave that is owned by a Canadian Corp that has partnered with HBO to streak their library.

ShogunKing 19 hr ago
>Crunchyroll is growing less and less niche as anime popularity grows I f****** hate this timeline.

Mf got my number, damn. I was being hyperbolic. But I get pp for free behind the Walmart, so idk if that's a brag

your attention and time to ads is what makes the money for them. You can’t play ads to a empty audience and get money

Loved watching this the first time through. Tempted to give it a rewatch.
17
SineQuaNon001 23 hr ago +17
It's even better in my opinion on rewatch because you know who is who and what's coming and you can see all the little threads and connective tissue in the foreshadowing.

The mini series is in? Hell yeah
11
SineQuaNon001 1 day ago +9
Sadly no razor film it seems. But beggars and choosers and all... I wonder how Pluto is going to handle the nudity in The Plan lol 😆 do they care? I hope not lol
9
Ridiculousnessmess 20 hr ago +7
I think there were two cuts of The Plan. The one with nudity was for DVD/Blu-Ray.
7
Atomic_Gumbo 10 hr ago +1
Yeah I’m bummed that Razor isn’t in the deal. Great story.
1
TheSamurabbi 9 hr ago +1
Yeah, I stopped my rewatch when I realized Razor was missing. It just doesn’t make as much sense to try and rewatch this with so many missing parts
1
BlinkyMJF 20 hr ago +2
I wathced the mini + the series about a year ago on Showtime+ or what ever it called ~5€ per month, still watching stuff from there and I don't even need to use other platforms, there so much quality content there.

I just started my rewatch after so many years and was sailing the seas to do so. Guess will pause until May 1st and watch on Pluto! So say we all?

FionaWalliceFan 22 hr ago +34
Unpopular opinion apparently but Ive always loved the ending. There are heavy religious themes throughout the whole show, its odd that people would have a problem with such a finale that has heavy religious themes
34
fornefariouspurposes 20 hr ago +11
Count me in among the few who actually liked the ending.
11
BlinkyMJF 20 hr ago +7
I very much didn't like the religous stuff getting stronger towards the end. But I recognize it's not often an audience that's addressed in scifi settings heavily, so I'm glad for those who wanted it to go that way. For me it was the firends and enemies we made on the way, very strong cast.
7
ConvenienceStoreDiet 19 hr ago +5
Didn't mind it personally. I think there are just so many ways it could have ended and the ending we got may not have been the absolute best, but it was fitting.
5
Drivenby 21 hr ago +7
I’m in the same boat . It does feel rushed but the actual ending IMHO is consistent with the entire show .
7
ReasonablyBadass 17 hr ago +3
I would say, it doesn't have religious themes, it uses GOD as a literal Deus Ex Machina to explain the disintegrating plot. If your show needs "uh...god did it" then your writers screwed up somewhere.
3
Ridiculousnessmess 20 hr ago +2
I have no problem with the ambiguities of the final episode. Some people have to have everything explained in pedantic detail, though.
2
ITworksGuys 20 hr ago +2
I have tried to explain this to people multiple times. The wholes show is religious, there are miracles and prophecies. The weird hate boner some sci-fi fans have for anything religious kinda creeps me out. I thought it was super interesting because I hadn't seen it before but from the reactions I see online are some "they didn't know what they were doing" takes. If you paid even a bit of attention, it's there the whole time.
2
nymesis_v 15 hr ago -1
Hate to overgeneralize, but there's definitely a crayon-eating kind of sci-fi fans who don't actually read any sci-fi novels and are there just for "space ships and robots". Anyone who's ever enjoyed a good sci-fi novel would feel at home in BSG asking themselves who or what God is and what influence they have on people. Found myself asking the same questions in God Emperor of Dune as with the Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch and many other legendary novels which the crayon-eating fans have no idea about because they just watch movies. But yeah if you're like "hurr durr lightsabers & science rule" the BSG ending is going to suck hard.
-1
SFHalfling 11 hr ago +1
I've always felt there were things I would tweak in the ending but anyone who didn't expect it to be roughly what it was, didn't pay attention.

Not always. It hops on and off of there pretty regularly. I wound up just buying the DVD set a long time ago. Easier than trying to hunt it down when I want to watch it.

It comes and goes. Often isn't on there. And they often forget to include the mini, which is the pilot. Leading people to be confused as frak.

In terms of effects and art design, the show holds up, and with the possible exceptions of the CG centurions being a bit iffy, if you've never seen the show before, it could easily have been made yesterday.
