The music in this show is incredible. How Bear McCreary was never nominated for an Emmy is a mystery to me.

His live version of the song in incredible: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVkiI9Vm7mE&list=FL5KPV3AMl-4Z0QYnTmM8Riw&index=60](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVkiI9Vm7mE&list=FL5KPV3AMl-4Z0QYnTmM8Riw&index=60) and it even includes Katee playing at the start.

The best thing about Kevin Smith’s 4:30 movie is the Bear McCreary song. If you haven’t heard it, it’s awesome. It’s called 24 karat case of love.

SmarmyYardarm Apr 12, 2026 +1
Oh that makes sense. My wife is on her third or fourth watch through of Outlander and Bear does the music for that too.

The song that kicks off when they start union, like actual chills

Exodus Part 2 ending with the Adama theme ⛰️ The only show that moved me by showing an old guy shaving his moustache off

When this show was first run and they had stargate followed by bsg it was peak nerd tv, and I was there for every bit of it
26
cjacks9 Apr 12, 2026 +5
It was a glorious time.

This era was peak for me. Could never connect with the 80s-90s star trek but stargate/farscape/bgs hit for me.

Lust4Me Apr 14, 2026 +2
I missed Stargate and have wondered about starting it now. Do you think it would stand up?
2
higglesworth Apr 14, 2026 +2
Honestly I still rewatch it and as long as you embrace the campiness it’s a good time!

Chyvalri Apr 11, 2026 +57
Currently in my god-knows-how-manyeth rewatch. I have a terrible memory so I can never remember who the final five are after a year or so. Anyway, one of the best shows on TV, let alone in sci-fi. So say we all.

I was just thinking the other day about how remakes of popular shows and movies, even when they are very well done, are always somehow less memorable than the originals. Battlestar Galactica is the only exception to this rule I can think of. It was just a masterpiece from start to finish.
20
Jolly_Storage_329 Apr 11, 2026 +12
It was a masterpiece until the writers strike. The final split season is noticeably weaker as a result.
12
Lindsiria Apr 12, 2026 +7
It was still so much better than most shows, imo.
7
therealswil Apr 12, 2026 +2
Not sure that's true - Moore has talked about how the extra time it gave him made him rethink the second half, and what he describes as the original plan for that half didn't sound great.
2
Jolly_Storage_329 Apr 12, 2026 +1
The final season is widely considered to be inferior to what went before it.
1
Imaginary-Plate2987 Apr 11, 2026 -14
It’s awesome, but it’s far from a masterpiece. Way too many awful plots in the back half of the show and some really lame reveals as well.
-14
Chyvalri Apr 11, 2026 +4
The only bad line ever uttered in the entire run of the show is when Kara looks at Sam when they're on the Demetrius and says "I wanna frak."
4
Gilshem Apr 11, 2026 +28
I am on my second rewatch and man, the ending of "Exodus, Pt. 2" left me sobbing. Saul coming back on board and making it clear how much was lost and how awful it was with just the line "Not everyone." Incredible.

Iwoulddiefcftbatk Apr 11, 2026 +12
Katee Sackoff and her husband and doing a rewatch on her YouTube channel since she’s never watched the show except for some dailies. They’re still in season one and it’s been very interesting hearing her stories on filming episodes and how bts stuff went.

Paxton-176 Apr 12, 2026 +4
Terrible memory in this case is a blessing. You get to experience things you like for the first time again. I have the opposite problem. I remember stuff so well I'll decide to rewatch a something thinking I don't remember much about this show. 10 minutes in I have completely recalled every twist and character arc.

TheDadThatGrills Apr 11, 2026 +2
Where can I find this outside of piracy and physical media?
2
ObjectiveRun6 Apr 11, 2026 +5
That depends entirely on where you're located. Honestly, they don't make it easy. Piracy is the way.
5
Chyvalri Apr 11, 2026 +2
It's on Prime in Canada

IvyGold Apr 12, 2026 +1
So say we all. I just realized that I REALLY need to rewatch the final season. Maybe even pick it up a little earlier.
1
emreunayli Apr 11, 2026 +10
One of those rare and incredible works where the music becomes part of the story itself. Bear's score was so good that it's impossible to talk about Battlestar Galactica without him and this scene alone is reason enough for that.

ZackFrost Apr 11, 2026 +16
I’ve never even seen the show before, but this song remains etched into my brain

Neo2199 Apr 11, 2026 +39
'Battlestar Galactica' is one of the best Sci-Fi TV shows ever. Give it a shot and watch the 2003 miniseries. If you like it, then continue with the main series which ran for 4 seasons.

bludgeonerV Apr 11, 2026 +26
You can drop the Sci-Fi category, it doesn't need it. Simply one of the greatest pieces of multimedia ever

If we were to explain it it'd be a massively huge spoiler. Best to just watch the show. It's great.

Ok fine, I'll rewatch the entire show. Again.

MustrumRidcully0 Apr 11, 2026 +7
Bear McCreary was amazing. Without him, BSG would probably be a lesser show (i mean, I guess they would have had *some* other music, maybe it would have worked, but could it possibly be as brilliant as Bear?) Also Michael Hogan's eye-patch acting is always on point... I've lately been seeing a few BSG reaction videos. It's a nice way to "re-experience" the show. Very interestingly, Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) is now doing it, too. She never saw the full series before (but she saw dailies), and it's of course a fun experience. She's watching together with her husband, who hasn't seen it before either (but of course knews a lot of the memes from interaction with fandom).

JamStan1978 Apr 11, 2026 +16
She never should have died 😭
16
Chyvalri Apr 11, 2026 +9
But did she?
9
Atharaphelun Apr 11, 2026 +29
She died in Maelstrom. The Kara that came back was an angel sent to guide humanity to paradise.
29
ulysses_s_gyatt Apr 11, 2026 +6
Yes.
6
Yorkshireish12 Apr 12, 2026 +1
Yes, there was a canon comic release around that time that confirms she dies and is replaced, though it's not super well written and has been lost to time a bit. Also from a doylist pov she has to die so we can assume she's been resurrected as a final five member in "Sometimes a great notion". If the series had ended there due to the writers strike, Kara would've just been the last one.

Probably the first time i cried during a show, the slow realization of the song shes playing its asolutely amazing.
7

The most memorable moment of that final season.

Mr_Straws Apr 12, 2026 +3
imo best scifi show ever. Religion, ethics, war, addiction, philosophy.. it had it all. Not a single bad episode. Also the perfect ending. And the best quote about being human [https://youtu.be/GawzvbNYsWI?si=F4SYJiUBKnwZWEd4](https://youtu.be/GawzvbNYsWI?si=F4SYJiUBKnwZWEd4) Don't care if people don't agree with me, I will never change my mind.

What about the one where Apollo becomes an undercover detective to help save his prostitute girlfriend’s daughter from black market crime lords?
1
lesjo Apr 11, 2026 +5
Few months ago, I was minimalizing my backlog by watching the best sci-fi shows I've been hearing about (ST: Deep Space 9, Babylon 5, Galactica) and I rate this one the highest. It's pretty remarkable how consistent in quality it is throughout the entire run: I'd struggle to mention episodes that felt like absolute filler.
5
SmarmyYardarm Apr 11, 2026 +3
Yeah, the filler are pretty great self contained emotional pieces (the boxing one immediately punches its way forward in my mind.)
3
ObjectiveRun6 Apr 11, 2026 +1
The boxing episode is great because it helps to establish, in a single episode, a shift in the relationships between the crew. They dedicated a whole episode to helping us understand how Adama feels, and why he behaves the way he does.
1
Elvis_Lazerbeam Apr 11, 2026 +1
The only episode that I can recall feeling like filler is the one where Helo is in conflict with the racist doctor who refuses to treat certain refuges based on their origin planet (or something). It’s been too long. Time for a rewatch?
1
Technical-Process222 Apr 12, 2026 +2
That one and the one where Lee is seeing a prostitute and investigates the black market
2
Elvis_Lazerbeam Apr 12, 2026 +2
That was the other one I was thinking of, but I don’t recall if anything significant in the search for Earth happened.

jessnotok Apr 12, 2026 +1
Btw she is currently watching the entire series for the first time with her husband (his first time also) on her yt. If anyone watches reaction videos.
1
sharrrper Apr 12, 2026 +1
Katee Sackoff has a YouTube channel and is currently doing a one episode per week watch of the series with her husband. Currently on episode 8 of season 1. She's never actually watched the show before.

Great music, great performances. I do think it was a mistake to make Kara supernatural.
1
A_Mr_Veils Apr 11, 2026 -3
This is one of the best moments in the show, and generally in television in terms of integration of the music to the scene and plot. Gave me absolute chills. Its a shame its all (mostly) downhill from here...
-3
Weinerbrod_nice Apr 11, 2026 +2
Yeah gave me chills when I first watched it and still did now. Didnt even realize what was going on first but then I got it, but then I had to comprehend like that Saul was one of them, after everything he had gone through. Like wtf.
2
tearsandpain84 Apr 11, 2026 -6
I rember being so emotional watching this scene that I kept vomiting. It took me several times to get through it. When I did I was never quite the same. I have always felt a little depressed ever since.
