So I'm rewatching Eastbound & Down and I come to the end of S02E07 and there's this scene which really catches me unawares (which tbh isn't uncommon for E&D).
So the scene in question is the last scene in the episode after >!April tells Kenny that he's the father of her soon-to-be-baby but she's not interested in him romantically. She agrees to go get some food with him all the same!<. It struck me because of how well it sums up that feeling of two people being so close, and also so far from each other. They managed to convey that sense of two people living two different, very personal experiences, both intertwined very closely, at the same time together. I'm sure we've all experienced that many times but it really transported me back to walking with my then ex-gf after a breakup 20 years ago when we were teens.
Anyway, the scene kicks off around 26:00 I think
Scenes like this are what make this show so special to me. Kenny is such an outrageous character but these pitch-perfect moments of humanity really ground his experience in reality. Incredible stuff
