It’s probably the best season of television ever made way better than true detective season 1

Oscar Isaac doing petty, escalating country club beef sounds like the most specific flavor of chaos. Netflix should really lean into episodic POV shifts between the four, perfect for simmering resentment.

Season 1 was shockingly well plotted and thematically rich. If they manage to scrape half the storytelling prowess of the first season into this one, I’ll be deeply impressed.

I have found myself loving Carey Mulligan recently after watching the Collateral series. Then watched the Netflix show with Ralph Fiennes and then watched Promising Young Woman. Something about her facial expressions is comforting in a way. Like I can imagine her as a real person in a room with me having the conversation I'm watching on the screen, if that makes sense. And not in a weird way. Anyway, I was hoping to see her in more series as opposed to on the big screen, so I'm excited to watch this. Hope she's great in it.

Watch an Education. Her breakout and still one of the best

Watch her in An Education with Peter Skarssgard. She is so talented. Also in Shame with Michael Fassbinder.

Is it already out? Loved the first season so I'd like to see how it compares to it .

The 'I will watch anything Cailee Spaeny is in train' continues to roll...

Janderson2494 Apr 17, 2026 +3
I think I've been watching everything she's in coincidentally, and she's been excellent every single time. Good range too, her characters in Mare of East Town and Wake Up Dead Man are unrecognizable from one another

you'll see that carey mulligan is acting circles around cailee

This guy's eattherich41 on Instagram and is a bot who, for some reason, has been programmed to spew hatred towards Cailee lol. If he was given one buck for every time he uses the expression "act circles"...

So far Carey is amazing.  Cailees facial expressions reminds me of someone and I can't place it.  It's driving me crazy

It doesn't have the sense of humour the 1st season had.

Did not realise it was out. I actually deeply loved the characters in the first season of beef and was kinda hoping that they would keep it as Asian American actors and problems unique to Asian Americans as part of the plot and story. It's still lee sung Jin producing but was hoping for more options in acting for those communities

Loved the original!... I tried to scarf down more than one Burger King chicken sandwich in preparation... Couldn't do it sadly

Shout out for the Pachinko nod. Will probably skip this one, too much of a departure from s1.

Incredible performance by the two, top tier acting. I hope they each get an emmy.

From the comments im quite sure you guys dont know or have seen an anthology before so just for a lil nugget shows or movie under anthropologies contain usually the same timeline just different perspectives of everyone else’s world hypothetically s1 and s2 couldve been happening at the same time just. I personally think s2 is better than s1 the beef is deeper than physical they literally were all about to die so theres that. All the actors did fantastic and the breakdowns of everyones trauma really hit home. 10/10

Sad to see some less than stellar reviews. Hear it being called a white lotus clone this season

The majority of reviews are very positive.

It's f****** terrible and it feels very much like a poor clone of White Lotus I loved the first series of Beef but this new one was uhhh...kind of ridiculous.

It is not bad but it can be boring NGL. I feel like pacing is an issue, there are like 5 time jumps in the show.

Huge-Emphasis2742 Apr 16, 2026 +2
40% beef only, mannn season 1 was some other level beef and you dont come down from that ther'es always up!!! sadly here we came down a big notch.

SolarKitten Apr 16, 2026 +2
Agreed. I just finished bingeing S2, and although it does have its merits, nothing could compete with the masterpiece that was the first season

Carnavaliaa Apr 17, 2026 +2
Can somebody tell me how does it hold up compared to S1? Honestly I’ve been reticent watching it because I really enjoyed the focus on Asian American of the first season and I thought it gave such an unique vibe and lens to see that kind of story through (that Steven Yeun church crying scene is still one of my favorite because of that) But season 2 kinda feels more generic to me and like a d******* White Lotus. I hope I’m wrong and it’s still as good but idk. Would really love to hear people’s opinions.

Pretty solid watch

Season 2 wasn’t terrible, but I prefer season 1. This season was a bit bloated plot wise for my liking.

Evening_Froyo_7506 Apr 17, 2026 +2
I don't know if it's considered good writing or good acting, but the Ali character is so cringe that I can barely stand it. The clingy manipulation is at the max.

The actor who plays whoosh is not very good, though

I have one criticism, without watching it yet, I don't like the fact they cast A Listers this year. I thought having working actors as the leads was a much stronger approach to the show.
-7
tylergetsmeajob Apr 16, 2026 +28
Ali Wong and Steven Yuen are similarly famous to Carey Mulligan and Charles Melton, perhaps even more so.  The only A-list star in either season is Oscar Isaac.

I've watched the 1st episode so far and have spent over half of the time looking at my phone rather than watching the show its sooooo boring. It's not nearly as good as the 1st season. I hope the episodes start to get a hell of a lot better, or I definitely won't be finishing the season

When you skipped through 8 episodes in 2 hours and didn't actually watch any of it, I can't say I'm surprised!

It’s only been out for a few hours. You haven’t even finished half of it yet.

One of the review says SS2 is "Netflix's White Lotus", is that statement true?
1
MovieTrawler Apr 16, 2026 +1
I think the parallels are there for sure. Anthology series, star studded cast, themes of rich people problems. I can definitely see it. Even the episode titles and artwork give that White Lotus vibe. I don't think it's a bad thing though.

occono Apr 16, 2026
It is definitely their attempt at springboarding the show into their White Lotus series anyway
