Making BEEF an anthology series was such a great choice… the first season was too good to let this concept die with a miniseries.

bmw071478 Apr 2, 2026 +109
Agreed. First season had a solid ending. Would’ve been a shame to ruin that
109
MudReasonable8185 Apr 2, 2026 +18
Wasn’t the ending “two people go from mortal enemies to bffs after getting high together”?
18
IcyTransportation961 Apr 2, 2026 +25
What better end could any conflict have
25
Ancient-Dust3077 Apr 2, 2026 +58
i still was hoping the asian culture would continue

LarBrd33 Apr 3, 2026 +3
That seemed to be a big part of the draw for it. There was a lot of press around the representation without stereotypes and so much of the content I saw around it was how great it was to see asians in something that wasn't explicitly asian. I'll be interested to see if the same audience transfers over. I mean, part of the praise was that it just so happened to have asian cast members playing roles that didn't need to be asian, so it's not like doing a sequel to "Crazy Rich Asians" with white people, but at the same time it felt like that was a huge part of the push around the show. That show also went through the weird cycle of "this is a masterpiece" to "people are just saying it's a masterpiece, because of representation it actually is insanely overrated" to "actually so many people are saying this is overrated that it's actually insanely underrated" all of which in a roundabout way promoted the show.

Same. Disappointing

KTOWNTHROWAWAY9001 Apr 3, 2026 +8
I'm on the opposite on that. I really liked the Yeun and Wong dynamic. Their story felt like it had more juice to it. Right now this one is giving me White Lotus setting and character vibes. And really, for an anthology like this it's best case scenario it turns out like that, worst case, True Detective. I'm leaning White Lotus veneer on True Detective outcome. But we'll see.

KSouphanousinphone Apr 2, 2026 +20
Yes, Ali Wong was a wonder on that series.
20
SvenHudson Apr 2, 2026 +3
She could just stand alone in a room doing nothing in this show and watching that brought back the trauma of that kind of person being in my life.
3
zenkei18 Apr 2, 2026 +7
Ali wong so hot 🤒
7
lord_pizzabird Apr 3, 2026 +1
I wish Walking Dead became this at some point, an anthology.
1
pastypatissiere Apr 2, 2026 -69
I disagree. Season 1 is a perfectly encapsulated twin flame story that cannot be repeated. It's the ultimate Beef, whereas this looks like just another Netflix couples crime drama.
-69
notches123 Apr 2, 2026 +34
Might want to actually watch it or even let others watch it before deciding what it is about
34
pastypatissiere Apr 2, 2026 -62
You could say the same thing about anyone giving a positive opinion of this trailer. Most Beef fans don't want a second season, and the concept cannot be repeated so whatever this second season is is going to be far less meaningful and impactful.
-62
notches123 Apr 2, 2026 +24
>Most Beef fans don't want a second season Citation needed.
24
Believable_Bullshit Apr 2, 2026 -8
🙋🏻‍♂️the first season was perfect. I know that any subsequent season will not come close to being as good. The bar is too high. I’ll watch it, but I don’t have the highest expectations because I’m prepared for disappointment
-8
roboxsteven Apr 2, 2026 -8
I do agree the first season was so good and it was a really cool new thing for everyone. Every new season is going to be lacking to the first. I will still check it out, but not knowing it would become an anthology later makes it kind of disappointing.
-8
notches123 Apr 2, 2026 +4
Fargo's first season was considered a masterpiece but many people among the fanbase agree that season 2 is the superior season and many(myself included) think it's the best season of TV ever. It's not impossible that season 2 could be better or just as good. I just think it's ridiculous to write off the possibility sight unseen.
4
roboxsteven Apr 2, 2026 -7
My main point is that nobody knew it was going to be an anthology. You will have a lot of fans turned off to it because we dont get to see the characters we already connected with. If we knew it was going to be an anthology from the start it would be different. Just my opinion. Also Netflix does not have a good track record for anthology’s.
-7
No-Physics1146 Apr 2, 2026 +15
Why do you think you speak for most fans?
15
pastypatissiere Apr 2, 2026 -13
Go ahead and read the rest of the sublistnook on this idea of a second season yourself. r/BEEFTV
-13
OnionPastor Apr 2, 2026 +33
Literally the most annoying type of person on Listnook.
33
TheHawk17 Apr 2, 2026 +18
Yup. The typical listnookor who gate keeps enjoyment.
18
pastypatissiere Apr 2, 2026 -13
Oh I never said people can't enjoy this lol I disagreed that it should be an anthology.

57
RainHead557 Apr 2, 2026 +3
They should marry each other at this point lol
3
jzakko Apr 2, 2026 +8
Yeah, but Carey Mulligan's love story is reuniting with her long lost pen pal who happened to be Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons so hard to top that.

IhateLukaDoncic Apr 2, 2026 -4
You spelled Cailee spaeny incorrectly

This is my most anticipated show this year, the cast is crazy stacked too.
123
BeardedAsian Apr 2, 2026 +19
This trailer was a banger too
19
CrossoverEpisodeMeme Apr 2, 2026 +9
Man, if this is even half as good as the trailer it's gonna be bonkers
9
immaownyou Apr 2, 2026 -5
I dont understand why people spoil themselves, media is always better if you go in with as little preconceptions as possible
-5
PrestigeArrival Apr 2, 2026 +7
That’s your opinion. I disagree. I have never found that knowing things about a movie/show has ever ruined it for me. If anything it enhances my enjoyment because the joy of the story for me isn’t always just *what* happens, but *how* it happens.
7
notches123 Apr 2, 2026 +10
I have loved Carrie Mulligan since An Education of which I went to a premiere party back in like 2009. Got drunk and knocked over the poster actually.

RIGHT? Why do you swap shit around people are used to? Enshittification at its finest.
17
mmmory Apr 2, 2026 +14
I hate how the software development has become change for the sake of change just so they can impress and show something to higher ups that they "did some work"
14
shy247er Apr 2, 2026 +2
They also have now "voice boost" that was for some reason turned on by default for me. Made movie trailers sound like c*** to me, I thought studios uploaded badly mixed videos until I saw it was on.
2
Expensive-Tutor4841 Apr 2, 2026 +11
I wonder what the music for this season will be like, the first season's was fantastic. This looks interesting.
11
FtFleur Apr 2, 2026 +24
I really liked the Asian American aspects of the first season, felt like seeing a world I’m not very familiar with in a new light. How unfortunate
24
thizzking7 Apr 2, 2026 +13
Yeah, surprised this is so low. For me, I thought a big part of Beef was that it was an Asian American show.
13
bbmarvelluv Apr 2, 2026 +3
There’s an Asian guy with a white girl! Finally breaking barriers /s

More TV worth living a little bit longer for
19
eekamuse Apr 2, 2026 +5
There's always more great TV to live for. Then hopefully something else. But TV always provides.

emmathompsonluvr Apr 2, 2026 +47
"Don't people say you shouldn't be looking for the right person but actually the right wrong person?" I've literally never heard anyone say this.
47
WoodpeckerGingivitis Apr 2, 2026 +12
Yeah, that was weird
12
hamlet9000 Apr 2, 2026 +9
That was so nonsensical I had to watch it three times and then turn on closed captions for my brain to figure out what she was saying.
9
PrestigeArrival Apr 2, 2026 +8
The trailer looks awesome, but yeah that line didn’t land as hard as I think they were going for. It sounds very Im14andthisisdeep.
8
Junglebook3 Apr 2, 2026 +11
Feels like a very different tone from the first one?
11
PmMeYourNiceBehind Apr 2, 2026 +14
Agreed, much more dramatic I’m also curious about what the beef is? That the younger couple recorded the other couple in a heated fight?
14
PrestigeArrival Apr 2, 2026 +3
Yeah, I’m getting the vibes that it will be couple vs couple. Maybe their escalating feud will heal something in their broken relationship…..Or everyone ends up dead.
3
WingnutIsTaken Apr 2, 2026 +6
Not watching the trailer - i NEED to go into this blind. I went into season 1 completely blind and it rocked my world
6
Pickupyoheel Apr 2, 2026 +14
Honestly should have renamed it. Looks nothing like what BEEF started.
14
format32 Apr 2, 2026 +15
Yeah this just looks soap opera. No humor like the first one. Lots of people seem to love the trailer based of the comments here but to me, it doesn’t have the vibe that the first season had. Not even close.
15
SandyWaters Apr 3, 2026 +1
I was starting to think I'm the only one that isn't really excited for it. The other seemed much more ridiculously possible. Season 2 just seems like the usual drama of a couple that hates each other and jealousy at a couple that seems really in love, but didn't really see anything so ridiculous that it's funny. I might give it a shot but have very low low standards so I'm not sure I'll get to it.

Forgot about this show. How long has it been since season 1?
0
PetMeFucker Apr 2, 2026 +35
A couple years. Not that the gap matters much. It’s an anthology with an entirely new cast.

All I will say is that Mikaela Hoover is thriving now from starring in both this & also playing Tony Tony Chopper in One Piece last month.

Saw the first two episodes already. Keeps the same feel from the first season very well and the characters are great. Can’t wait for the full season.

hamptont2010 Apr 2, 2026 +1
I'm definitely excited for this show but I also love that they used Punching in a Dream for the song choice. What a banger for real.
1
rodneyforeverunclean Apr 3, 2026 +1
Anyone know what the song is in this trailer?
1
spider_iron Apr 3, 2026 +2
Punching in a Dream by The Naked and Famous - stripped version. I love the original song and had never heard this version before!

Punching in a dream just got back into my music rotation and I hear it here. Crazy world.

Yeah I still get young blood pop up every once in awhile, but this feels like a random deep cut. Can't find this cover/mix though.

I will watch literally anything with Cailee Spaeny in it.

Beef was so fun. Looking forward to it.
1
saigyoooo Apr 3, 2026 +1
The Asian cast of S1, with levity and humor throughout, and featuring lots of different parts of LA was all incredible. This is like Big Little Lies reloaded lmao wtf
1
eldenpotato Apr 3, 2026 +2
Agreed. Doesn’t give me the same vibe

choomba96 Apr 2, 2026 -2
My issue is that Beef 1 was super unique and this seems like a Netfix white lotus

2

Season 1 start off fun but it really dragged on and got very navel-gazy by the end. This looks like it’s going to start off navel-gazy
