Best fast-paced sequences in movies?

Posted by No-Chemistry-6874

I'm looking for movie scenes when characters are speeding very fast towards something. It doesn't have to be the usual car-chase sequences though those suggestions are also welcome provided the speed is extremely fast and with little to no interruptions. But like also when it is done through other ways than just cars, say like a warp tunnel in space. Here's my fav examples - \- Woody and Buzz on RC in Toy Story 1 \- Stargate sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey \- Mission Impossible Train sequence. \- "Grab shell dude" moment in the East Australian Current from Finding Nemo \- Car chase from 'To Live and To Die in L.A.' \- >!Escaping the nuclear explosion in!< 'The World's End'

Some amazing fast-paced sequences that come to my mind are: • The Millennium Falcon escape in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back • The docking sequence in Interstellar • Pod race scene in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace • Highway chase in The Matrix Reloaded • Opening scene in Baby Driver

The Millennium Falcon escape from the exploding Death Star in ROTJ is really great as well.

Outside of Star Wars, Lucas also has the climactic race in *American Graffiti* and the rocket car sequence in *THX 1138* (specifically the original version).

Not sure how you forgot it, but the chase through the mine field in Galaxy Quest

The pod race in Phantom Menace is basically 10 straight minutes of “how is this still getting faster?”

This sequence is so great. It’s especially disturbing how good Lecter is at using people’s strengths against them (mace, handcuffs).

Ronin has two major and really excellent car chases: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxxH0lZSYgU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2m-ofGDLNlM

Both of the chase sequences in Terminator 2 (the one after the Galleria scene and even more so the freeway chase after blowing up Cyberdyne)

The Matrix Trilogy has some iconic high speed sequences.

Here are two scenes which capture the fast moving, frenzied feeling of an emergency situation very authentically: First: The scene in Kubrick's **Dr. Strangelove...** where the U.S. bomber is stuck by the pressure-wave of a near-miss Russian missile exploding close to it, wherein we see the bomber crew reacting to the shuddering destruction, trying to get their damaged aircraft under control. The second scene was actually inspired by Kubrick's editing, lighting, sound, and use of a handheld camera in that sequence: This was in Ridley Scott's **Alien**, where the Nostromo loses an exterior shield during planet-fall, and the crew must scramble to keep their spacecraft from crashing during its landing.

The one-shot car chase from Children of Men comes to mind. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=PvOduWTY06g

Recency bias but the Adrian sequence in Project Hail Mary fits the bill here too
