When governments begin to make such lists, and make them available to the public, not only is it wise to ask what the government plans to do with such data, but whether they are endorsing individual action, in some manner, through public disclosure.
In 1933, a first priority after taking power, the Nazi regime targeted the Institut für Sexualwissenschaft (institute for Sexual Science) in Berlin, a safe haven research institute for what we'd call the trans community. People were arrested, disappeared, research destroyed, etc. But it wasn't Hitler or his military, it was the Deutsche Studentenschaft (German Student Union), and all the government had to do was turn a blind eye.
Trying to avoid hyperbole, I'd politely suggest that the government in Tennessee, with the support of the Trump administration, is intending to turn a blind eye. History has a pesky habit of repeating.

The targeting of queer people also isn't discussed as much in America because it doesn't paint the US in the best light. When the allies liberated the camps, the queer people were put right back in prison, since it was illegal to be queer in the allied countries at that time too. It's like the fact that Anne Frank's family was turned away from the US as refugees and sent back to die when the Nazis found them. It makes the US look bad, so it doesn't get brought up much.

Carl Schmitt, who was basically the philosopher for Nazis, developed a theory on how to push a society insular. You didn’t focus at your goal, but instead attack the boarders of what is considered acceptable to move those boarders further exclusionary
This is pretty obvious nowadays, but I don’t think it’s consciously thought about a lot which is a shame because it would help people recognize it as republicans continue to utilize it.

Close enough, although people with disabilities were easy first targets, since they were framed as a burden to society during a period when the German people were struggling. Forced sterilization of the disabled began in 1933. By 1939 the Nazi’s began the “Aktion T4” (euthanasia) program which served as a pilot project to provide the initial infrastructure to carry out the rest of their atrocities.

I’m pretty disappointed in my liberal friends tbh
Idaho passed a law yesterday that could punish trans people with up to life in prison for using the bathroom. Tennessee’s house passed a law that creates a public registry of trans people. The trump admin this week admitted to running medical experiments on trans prisoners. And this is just this week, not even the tip of the iceberg of what’s happened in the past year and a half.
Where are the protests? Where are the social media squares with trans colors? I watch my liberal friends cry and lose sleep over palestine or black lives matter, yet not so much as even a hashtag for trans people. There was a nationwide protest because trump referred to himself as a king in a truth social post, but when trans peoples lives are genuinely being destroyed there’s barely a peep.

Because the people targeting LGBT people are pedophiles. More of these people masquerading as "blue collar, conservative, wholesome, hard working family folk" are pedos than people want to admit. They all act high and mighty like they're "good simple people" but they're the ones who touch kids, they're the ones buying the drugs like cocaine from cartels, they're the ones going to prostitutes and shit.
109
ToiletLord29Mar 29, 2026
+7
The same pastors that are screaming from the pulpit every Sunday about how LGBT folks are all a bunch of pedo demons are often the ones getting caught raping kids and possessing child p*** like every other day.
The same goes for tons of local Republican politicians, often the most vehemently anti-lgbt ones are the ones getting busted for child sex abuses.
This is not really that surprising considering that conservative Christian morality is not based on concepts like consent, it's based on hierarchy.
This is often why these conservative Christians who get busted have gotten away with this stuff for a long time, because it just gets glossed over, because they're "one of the good ones." They're "good people who did a bad thing", vs LGBT folks who are considered inherently "bad people" and anything they do is filtered through that lens.
I'm not saying that LGBT folks are not capable of doing bad shit, but they are also much more highly scrutinized to a point where even fairly benign things will be used to accuse them of being sex offenders. Even just their presence is often considered to have a corrupting effect on kids, hence the "just stay away from the kids" statements that have become so popular from the right.
Compounding all of this is that the right wing media ecosystem is highly curated so that none of these reports of conservative Christian offenders are ever seen by them. Seriously go to any right wing forum and look, you will never see a story about a conservative Christian pastor or politician being busted or convicted for child sex abuse, or anything really. Unless it's Trump, who they defend.
Meanwhile in the leftist spaces reports of LGBT folks who have been charged or convicted of a crime are highly discussed and visible. This is how a culture should be, how it stays healthy, by being self reflective.
There is a huge disparity between right and left culture in this country, and it very much resembles an abusive relationship, where one side is never held accountable and the other gets punished for speaking out against it.

Yep. Dems keep shooting themselves in the foot over this issue. Pun intended.
Leftists in general do not want gun control. As a trans woman I stay strapped, and it has saved me multiple times. Armed queers bash back.
I think some cases could be made from restricting access for those convicted of domestic violence and other such crimes could be made, but general bans are not the answer as they have only been used against minorities, such as the case with Ronald Reagans gun ban in California in response to the black panthers arming themselves.
Improving material conditions such as economic opportunities and education will do more to reduce gun violence, and violence in general than any ban.

I mean, stats on the effectiveness of gender-affirming care already exist, since health orgs tend to survey patients and their outcomes. So the data they claim they want already exists.
Also, the "detransitioning" tracking argument is complicated for so many reasons. A) because transitioning itself means something different from different trans folks, and B) because there are folks who go on HRT and then decide to come off for a variety of reasons completely unrelated to any sense of "regret." Are those people counted as "detransitioning" even if they continue to identify as the same gender, but have just decided to come off HRT? Ultimately, those who "regret" it end up being very few and far between.
101
RecursiveRottweilerMar 28, 2026
+82
There's also the fact that many detransitioners cite violence and harassment as reasons for their choice. It's not that the health care aspects of transitioning didn't work, it's that these individuals often chose to prioritize their safety. To quote my fiancé's trans girlfriend who is waiting to move out of Ohio before she transitions, "I'm not going to be hate crimed."
The people who regret it because it didn't pass a cost benefit analysis or risk benefit analysis for them are incredibly rare.

> Meanwhile, the fourth study analyzes fertility in 18 trans men who paused their hormone therapy in order to have children, and it constitutes the only fertility study the BOP admits to have reviewed. As if that wasn’t alarming enough, this specific study doesn’t evaluate if trans men can carry children after going off testosterone; it actually evaluates when. Given the fact that the BOP has no legitimate reason to concern itself with fertility, this implies that the Trump administration—at least in part—created the prison policy out of a desire to find out how soon the forcibly detransitioned trans men in its custody will be able to carry children.
I want to vomit. Can safely say this is one of the worst fears for most trans men. And this is why I always respond to people who say "Republicans/conservatives don't even know trans men exist" with "oh yes, yes they do." Their main preoccupation with trans men, though, is over entitlement to trans men's bodies. Their concern over losing "viable wombs" and "mutilating healthy female bodies." Its the same shit JK Rowling spouts whenever she talks about trans men.

The party of small government, ladies and gentlemen!! As has been known to those with functioning brain stems, these fuckers were never about anything but bringing terror to those they deem the "other" and unadulterated profiteering.
Those who voted for this: you are beyond deplorable. You are irredeemable. We know who you are. We won't forget.

I’m Canadian. I’ve emailed my MP (Member of Parliament - similar to a House rep) to suggest that we implement a special refugee visa for LGBTQ+ people needing to flee the madness, the persecution and the bigotry, in the US.
Postibg this to encourage my fellow Canucks to do the same. 🇨🇦

Thank you. Something like that needs to get up and running before the next “phase” kicks in. If Canada does it I hope aligned countries like mine will get up the guts to do it too.

Lol . It well past time to track MAGA and create a list. Dangerous to our nation. Probably should be rounded up, maybe dumped into reeducation camps. Some will have to be deported of course. But first we need to get them away from children, especially their own.

The GOP had guns as their divisive issue - but now that has run its course and they have no limits, concealed carry and every newborn gets a glock 17 at birth (ok not yet on last) - they have picked transgender hate as their new vote getter.

Not surprising at all. I live in Nashville and although it's still pretty redneck here, our blue city constantly has to fight a state full of the most bassackwards bubbas you've ever seen in your life. The state has tried to take over our sports authority and our airport and has recently forced the acceptance of a Boring Company (Elon Musk) Tesla only tunnel from the airport to downtown. No one wants this- it was state imposed. If you want to see how a state that is constantly complaining about the government in Washington taking its rights or overextending beyond federal control (think states’ rights) can take over its own cities and counties and impose its whims and false morality on communities that are simply making their own local decisions, look no further. Tennessee! Our state government is such a shit show and after the massive Gerrymandering it looks like we will never see any balanced 2 party system ever again. Do you want to see how democracy dies on a smaller scale than the US? Look at TN.

'The data would be de-identified, Faison said on the House floor, meaning the reports would not include names, social security numbers or geographical information.
“Collecting data gives us the ability to study trends, outcomes and effectiveness of treatment without knowing who the patient is,” Faison said'
I don't know if the list is as bad as people say it's gonna be. Although, I certainly don't like that there's so much of a focus on Transgender people. Republicans keep wanting more oversight over people's lives.

If there was a recent history of this administration respecting personal data it would be ok but I think the Trump Administration has lost the benefit of the doubt on that.
“Oops, our AI must have sent all the identifying information along with the other data.”

Disclaimer: I'm not advocating for this.
Very misleading title. The state is not attempting to identify any individual person receiving care. The bill states that information regarding gender-affirming care be reported. The bill specifically states that no individually identifiable information be shared.
Essentially, the state will gather data on total number of procedures/patients. That's it. They aren't tracking people.
Is this in and of itself bad? Who knows, but it sure as hell isn't the rage-bait that the title presented.

The Tennessee House passed a bill requiring clinics to report data on transgender patients seeking gender-affirming care. The bill, which would also expand healthcare coverage for de-transitioning individuals, has raised concerns about privacy and potential discrimination against the transgender community.

I’m sorry? transgender and gender affirming care will “fall out of fashion”. Wide leg jeans and crop tops are one thing, someone seeking out hormone therapy, mastectomy or getting their d*** cut off is not fashion. I’m sure no walks into gender affirming care ready to spend the obscene amount of money for the treatments and surgery and everything just as a fashion choice. This mentality is wrong which means everything that follows is tainted.

This is disgusting. They putting people on a list as if they had committed some crime. Like a pedophile or something this is ridiculous. People need to vote all of these politicians out of office if they think that this is the most important thing that they should spend their energy in their time on in the face of corruption, increased prices, monopolies and cartels hijacking prices on us, private sector outsourceoutsourcing jobs and getting AI and robots, but somehow some reason this is the most important thing?

See propublica’s article on the DC townhouse owned by TN car magnate and megadonor Lee Beaman, where Mike Johnston stays while in DC, with the regular residents a former TN pastor who moved to DC with his wife to become a political influencer. Pastor Steve Berger and MJ managed to scrub most of their hateful anti-LGBTQ remarks from the internet but Propublica found some.
Trump tried to appoint Beaman to a major energy board for TN Valley despite Beaman having no experience, his divorce from his fourth wife (who was 25 years younger than him) detailed how he made her watch training videos of him having sex with prostitutes and watched p*** on his computer while the couple would be in the living room with their young son. MJ is not of the Epstein class but some of his donors qualify.
