ICE "may not leave" once TSA gets paid - are we ever getting a straight answer, or is this just the extended edition of "choose your own bureaucracy"?

groups that own the media on cable television have a vested interest in keeping it this way.

Jeremisio Mar 29, 2026 +24
But what can ice do at airports? By definition anyone entering the country passed customs and is here on a tourist visa at least. No one illegal in need of deportation is at the airport unless they are already leaving. But hey, more ice in airports is less in the streets and polling places.
24
Ez123guy Mar 29, 2026 +34
ICE at airports normalizes ICE at polling places. Brown people work at airports. ICE wandering around with nothing to do WILL find them. It normalizes bringing in the national guard. This is what has been actually happening across America! It includes undeclared war overseas. It’s totalitarianism, where ANYTHING can be normalized. TheRump wants a 3rd term!!

They absolutely mean they don't intend to leave. It's not ambigous. Whenever they say "Maybe I will, maybe I won't." It always code for meaning they absolutely are planning to and will do the shitty thing. Always.

snowlion000 Mar 29, 2026 +12
Gaslighting mixed with double binding communication is the Nazi way.
12
Jebediah_Johnson Mar 29, 2026 +8
We're right on schedule. The Nazis began controlling movement in Germany immediately upon taking power in January 1933, rapidly escalating to a comprehensive police state within months. By suspending civil rights in February 1933 and implementing targeted restrictions against Jews and political opponents, the regime began restricting both internal and external mobility, solidifying this control by 1934.
8
Judgmental-Dogface Mar 29, 2026 +2
Abusive people are always trying to create a haze of ambiguity. It’s strategic to exhaust people and dis regulate (sp?) their nervous systems with always having to be hyper-vigilant to prepare for what’s next.

137
Browncoat23 Mar 29, 2026 +42
It’s a great way to fire ICE agents too. If you’re stuck in the airport, you’re definitely not meeting your detention quota, which means you get fired, which means you don’t get that sign-on bonus you were promised. Then they’ll just hire a new group to replace the fired ones and on and on…

Yes that's my point but I guess you're right that ice is still in MPLS
2
Joebebs Mar 30, 2026 +4
I’d imagine the opposite is going to happen, someone “assaults” ice which makes them want to put MORE thugs out there with stricter protocols. At some point airports just became a Nazi checkpoint, and one piece of them integrating into our every day lives and into critical infrastructures. Nothings gonna happen either cuz we’re thinking someone else is gonna save us from this, or walking the streets will do anything. Nothing stops until they are **stopped** but no regular/rational person would even consider doing that. They’ll have their way for the next 3 years unless nature takes over, or a country stops us or something beyond our constitution/outside of the rules/law happens. But nah, let’s just wait 3 more years to vote and be civil and play by the rules when they never have from the start. It’s a lose-lose-win situation where we won’t see the outcome if we “win” cuz that’s potentially our life/livelihood/routine being over
4
jimmydean885 Mar 30, 2026 +1
I think that's what they've been hoping for this whole time
1
Joebebs Mar 30, 2026 +1
Yeah It was always meant to provoke in order to justify more control, but everyone’s too civil to do anything, myself included obviously. We do an inch, they’ll hit back with 1000 more yards to deter anyone from stepping out of line. Either we do one big leap or we’re all collectively fucked, including the people who voted for him.
1
ImpressiveMethod8624 Mar 29, 2026 +37
The best part is they had to remove masks to do this. It's going to be so easy to match them to their masked alter egos now. And you just know after 911 the airports take hd photos now.
37
SirTroah Mar 29, 2026 +7
If you look at all the maskless ICE agents they are plastering around you may notice a pattern. The demasking is not in good faith
7

1

Fine, they do nothing but stand there and look stupid. Funny how the mexican border is the most unprotected of all time. Trump took all agents from the border and sent them to inland cities. Right now is the easiest time in the last 30 years to illegally enter the US from mexico.
2

Given that the federal government doesn't own the vast numnber of airports, the ICE agents can be barred from the property. There will be lawsuits over a continued ICE presence. It's a Fourth Amendment matter (unreasonable searches and seizures).

They are hanging around drinking coffee. Doing nothing.

Most of the ones I saw traveling this morning looked to be equipped for a call of duty player's concept of modern warfare. Do you really need 6+ reloads for your sidearm? What on earth are you going to use a 6" combat knife for in an airport security checkpoint? At least none of them were masked.
1

Terrible headline. Not a fan of ICE but if you actually read Homan’s quote it’s not nearly so sinister. “We’re going to continue an ICE presence there, and until the airports feel like they’re in 100%, you know, in a posture where they can do normal operations,” Homan said in an interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation.” “So if less TSA agents come back, that means we’ll keep more ICE agents there.”

This must be the “small government” I kept hearing Republicans preach about for my entire life.

ICE was actually present in airports before. In its natural capacity.

I would rather they justify their budget by playing on their cellphones in the airport than by arming themselves to kill US citizens.

I mean, if this happens, wouldn’t it just push more people against the Republicans? I’m not very political by design, but common sense says it doesn’t do their image any favors and might actually weaken Americans’ favor toward the party. The TSA was already doing a solid job. Airport security is thorough and efficient. So what would these new presences even accomplish? Intimidation? Don’t you already need valid IDs, passports, and a clean record just to fly? With that said, I still support our government, the military, EMS, fighter fighters, and law enforcement. All very demanding, dangerous and tough jobs.

They finally found a place where people aren't calling them nazis and blowing whistles. And the fast food joints in the airports serve them, also the wifi is better. Additionally, they may actually be doing less damage just wasting our taxpayer dollars in the concourses. Better than murdering us in the avenues.
