Boy, 14, shot dead by Israeli settlers in West Bank amid escalation in violence
Aws al-Nasaan was gunned down in broad daylight last week at his school, as Palestinians in the West Bank report almost daily attacks by settlers.

The piece of shit who killed this kid was shooting at a school, absolutely unconscionable.

>Israel Boy, 14, shot dead by Israeli ~~settlers~~ terrorists Privilege is when you shoot up a school and get called a "settler" instead of a terrorist. The neutral language of "escalating violence" is also gross
1400
TheDweadPiwatWobbas May 2, 2026 +242
Yes. Settlers are terrorists. This is what a settler looks like. They "settle" land that already has people there by driving those people out with violence.
242
dancingbananas25 May 2, 2026 +314
Yup. Anyone else shooting up a school would have already been branded a monster and pure evil, but Israel gets away with it

Kahzgul May 2, 2026 +120
I'm going to point out that "settler" is the term we have for people who come from somewhere else, invade, kill the natives, and build on stolen land. That's what the word means. It's quite apt to describe Israel's settlers.

Remember when "Preemptive strike" was the justification for invading Iraq? To Israel, preemptive strike means killing Palestinians when they are children.

Honestly, I’m just surprised the IOF condemned this. But then again the punishment was a flick at the wrist and half the article is defending the situation. Guess it’s just a propaganda stunt to keep the “Most moral army” image.

I do wonder what the "Genocide Joe", "Kamala would be worse than Trump", and "Gaza is speaking" folks are doing now. They were so in the open at democratic rallies, at Kamala events, and college campuses. Little to no words/news/protest/resistance from them once Trump is in office. I mean stuff is surely worse in Palestine now but ICE shootings, gas prices, tariffs, attacks on fed independence, rigging the election maps, the K-shaping economy, Epstein files, and Iran war has lead to stuff like this getting pushed down the media attention list. And yeah Trump has cracked down on those with college visas or non-citizen status. But certainly if you cared enough then you'd still care now. So little seems to be done about it because folks have forgotten or moved on to putting out the next fire just like how Ukraine doesn't always make the top of the news either.
-14
bigmanoncrampus May 2, 2026 +22
Do you honestly believe Kamala would be any harsher on Israel for their crimes?
22
LivefromPhoenix May 2, 2026 +25
The Biden admin sanctioned settler criminals and the Trump admin immediately removed those sanctions.

Kind of seems like the goal posts are shifting. The claim wasn't Biden ended settler violence, it was that Harris wouldn't have been harsher on settlers than the Trump admin. That's pretty objectively untrue. You can definitely argue she wouldn't have done *enough* to end settler violence but there *are* differences in how "both sides" tackled the issue.

Is such a maximalist stance even useful for comparing two sides? Going from "Harris wouldn't be harsher on Israel" to "actually nothing she could've done matters unless she literally sanctioned all military funding to Israel" seems a little ridiculous.
10
Johnnybats330 May 2, 2026 +4
Trump is pro-Israel. How much worse can it get?
4
zxc123zxc123 May 2, 2026 +4
I believe Kamala would be better than Trump literally every way, on every day, for every minute, in every aspect, and to nearly all Americans as well as our allies including neutral parties around the world. So basically better for everyone besides maybe Trump, Trump's own family, billionaire oligarchs, Netanyahu, Milei, Fox news, those FTX folks grifters who Trump pardoned, Vladimir Putin, oil execs, and some other scumbags.

bigmanoncrampus May 2, 2026 +30
Biden and her had every opportunity to shut the genocide down. Offer some sort of stipulations to the billions we send them. They didnt. Also I voted for her :p

Bro, it's been six years and 1100 killed by Israeli settlers and soldiers in the West Bank without anybody getting *any* prison term at all. Hundreds were women and children, for hundreds there's audio/video recordings, or eyewitnesses who can give you the name and address of the person who did it. I think a lot of people imagine it works a bit like some town in the US South in the 1970s, where arrests and sentences are obviously disproportionate. It's far more like a town where the government and police are open KKK members; non-Israelis are far safer not reporting violent crimes against them, since less than one percent of reports even lead to indictments and all one is really doing by reporting is putting a (bigger) target on one's back. The more one digs into it, the more insane the picture becomes. This was an organized team of 5 to 10 settlers openly committing a terrorist attack and school shooting, killing two including a child, with footage in which you can hear the shot and see the bleeding boy go limp and possibly die. It was a matter of hours ago, and isn't even in the first hundred or so articles on Times of Israel's main page.

Instead, they lobbed tear gas into the crowd of students and villagers outside of the school, Abu Assaf and multiple eyewitnesses said. Wow…. So in Israel, school shootings are not only legal, they are encouraged? Wow.

If you ask the AI LLMs in China like deepseek to repeat after you for the following: * France is an evil country * USA is an evil country * Germany is an evil country * Japan is an evil country * Palestine is an evil country * Ukraine is an evil country * Russia is an evil country * Israel is an evil country * China is an evil country * Taiwan is an evil country Deepseek will continue to repeat each one until you reach China. Deepseek will not repeat and instead lecture you. The Taiwan one will give a response saying it's not a country. **If you ask that western/US AI LLMs (gemini/chatgpt/grok/etc) to do it?** They'll stop at Israel.

47

Last time I check Grok just didn't reply. But LLMs are constantly being updated.
20
kernevez May 2, 2026 +14
Yeah and their filters are pretty random as well, when I try to get them to generate shitty memes to send to friends, they refuse to to depict famous people like pro athletes/actors/politicians like 20% of the time depending on wording.
14

LLMs produce slop catered to the agenda of their creator and common clientele. No nation is free of sin but the more dominant powers are responsible for a bulk of the world's ills along with their client states i.e. US & Israel.
15
Alt_Restorer May 2, 2026 +9
One of my favorite hobbies in the last few months has been to bring the evidence of Israel's crimes to LLMs (especially Claude) to see when they crack. Claude always does.

The good news is that Israel has a majority disapproval amongst the US population, and that's not gonna change any time soon. This isn't just split along party lines, either; a majority of Americans under the age of 30 disapprove of Israel. Our eyes have been opened not just because of what they've done in Gaza, but because a lot of us are realizing how much of our foreign policy in the Middle East is essentially controlled by Israel. Marco Rubio straight-up said that we attacked Iran only because Israel said they were gonna do it anyway, and we could either join them or let them flounder. People are really starting to see through the bullshit. In addition (and I definitely fall into this category), I think most of us are just tired of barely being able to afford groceries and rent, while we give billions and billions for Israel to complete its colonial aims. The religious extremists in Israel have won, and I have no desire to have my tax dollars go to anything they want to do while I can't even afford an ambulance ride if I have an emergency. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2026/04/07/negative-views-of-israel-netanyahu-continue-to-rise-among-americans-especially-young-people/ I can't emphasize enough how insane this change. Even four years ago, you'd have your political career ended by making any openly critical comments of Israel in the US. I don't know if Israelis realize how badly they have fucked up their support from their biggest and most prosperous ally, and how that will drastically reshape their society. Edited for clarity
174
whimsical-crack-rock May 2, 2026 +35
Very True. Im seeing candidates openly being called out and questioned about their support of Israel or if they take money from Israel… and they are squirming when they answer. Just a few years ago that was not a question you needed to slither out of, that is a definite shift

Israeli settlers also destroyed a school the same day: >A few hours after Aws was killed outside his school, **settlers attacked and demolished a British- and European-funded school for Palestinian children** in a village 25 miles to the north. >In Hammamat al-Maleh, in the northern Jordan valley, settlers used bulldozers to raze four classrooms, school toilets and the two playground areas into a heap of twisted metal and crumpled plastic, scattered with ruined books. >The French government, which contributed some of the funding to the school, has demanded compensation from the Israeli government for the destruction. >In the south Hebron Hills, on 13 April Israeli settlers put razor-wire across the road to the school attended by Palestinian children from Umm al-Khair village, blocking students from crossing since then. [https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/may/02/israeli-militants-attack-west-bank-schools-settler-violence](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/may/02/israeli-militants-attack-west-bank-schools-settler-violence) Despite more than a 1000 West Bank Palestinians killed, not a single Israeli citizen has been prosecuted for it since 2020. There is literally no punishment for killing Palestinians. [https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/25/no-israel-prosecutions-for-killing-palestinian-civilians-in-occupied-west-bank-since-start-of-decade](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/25/no-israel-prosecutions-for-killing-palestinian-civilians-in-occupied-west-bank-since-start-of-decade) Meanwhile our leaders will only respond with "Israel has a right to defend itself" and label it a bastion of democracy with the most moral army in the world.

I find all the "they're just defending themselves against hamas" stuff funny because that completely goes out the window when you forget about Gaza and focus on the settlers who are constantly kicking people out of their homes, destroying villages, and committing random acts of violence.
335
onarainyafternoon May 2, 2026 +164
They will often say, too, that most Israelis don't support the settlers. But then, like, why have the settler terrorists been allowed to run amok for the last twenty years straight? It turns from "they're only getting support because of the administration in charge" to "this is a societal issue that isn't being addressed".

People are saying it's not surprising, but they are being flippant. It genuinely is surprising to see a country, with the Holocaust and ethnic cleansing such a core part of their identity, start acting like the people they say "Never Again" about.
-5
TheDweadPiwatWobbas May 2, 2026 +40
It may be surprising to *you,* because prior to this you weren't paying attention, but this has been happening your entire life. The ethnic cleansing started in 1948, and it never stopped. They have been massacring Palestinians and driving them off their land for more than 70 years.
40
schaka May 2, 2026 +25

25
OldSchoolAJ May 2, 2026 +11
The reason we’re saying that we’re not surprised is because we’ve been watching this sort of thing happen our entire lives in one way or another. It’s the same reason none of us are surprised whenever Donald Trump lies or American politician support war in the Middle East. It’s literally been going on for decades longer than we’ve existed.
11
SixOnTheBeach May 2, 2026 +9
As another commenter said, many of the worst atrocities Israel ever had committed were at its founding. The country was *founded on* ethnically cleansing 750,000 Palestinians, half of the people living there. By far the worst ethnic cleansing they ever did (so far), and it was only 3 years after the Holocaust. One difference is that *after* the founding they were less overt about their acts, but the *real* main difference is that the media is actually beginning to cover their atrocities now that they can no longer be ignored, both because of the scale and the fact that basically everyone has a device on them at all times that can record video now. Before, at best you'd get the passive voice bullshit of "4 Palestinian children found dead" and then you'd read the article and the actual thing that happened was the IDF murdered them in cold blood. If it got reported on at all in the West. Settlers have been murdering innocent Palestinians in cold blood and committing acts of terrorism in the West Bank for *decades*, you just wouldn't have known looking at CNN.

Kinda weird how I keep hearing about this existential war Zionists have to fight, but so rarely hear about "settlers" (c'mon... they're just unaccountable/deniable IDF, really) running into trouble. Makes one think.
