Of course he is. Brando Sando is a savage. Both him and Steven King need to have an intervention with George RR.

I don't know about Sanderson but for King the extra ingredient was cocaine.

Sanderson uses the power of God and anime

And having a really good team of people to help him out on things, though it gave the more recent stormlight a "written by committee" feel for me

I was thinking more of the Rick and Beth juicing and beating up baddies to DMX scene. But either way these words are accepted.

Sanderson will write *Dreams of Spring*

God that book would be so bad

Did apparently fine in Jordan's Wheel of Time conclusion. GRRM will not finish the series.

Two vastly different writing styles. Sanderson himself has said he could never do it. The most ideal scenario I've landed on (here in dreamland....) is Daniel Abraham writes it with the assistance, to whatever degree, of Elio, Linda, and maybe Ty Franck

Joe Abercrombie would also be a good choice. Sando has his hands full with his own very ambitious plans plus I believe he only read AGoT and stopped cause it wasn’t his vibe.

Man writes to take a break from writing

I know we have all been burned by authors being slow/ not finishing works but why are we praising speed when it clearly affects his quality

Yup, I read like everything he did before Covid, his work had taken a major nose dive. I don’t have the time to read a ton anymore, so what I read I need to be good to great to be worth the time, I just wish he could do like second or third drafts to perfect this stuff instead of turning out tons of good enough work.

That’s not a speed issue, it’s an editing issue. His long time editor retired.

Does it though?

Have you read his last 2 Stormlight books? They needed major editing

They weren’t profound but they were still fine. The endings were mostly controversial and RoW people found it annoying that they explained “magic”.

KiwiKajitsu 6 days ago +4
That’s a gross oversimplification of RoW criticism. It was pacing that was the issue not “explaining magic” like he does in every book he writes

Nah I just don’t think the books would be any better with more time. You can’t throw a cake back in the oven and expect that to fix issues with the recipe. He’s fast sure but he’s also not the top tier writer people act like he is. He’s above average and has some fresh takes on the genre. He isn’t a mastermind and thats fine. His books are really good and sometimes amazing. The last two books were good. 7/10. Really good. People act like 9/10 or 10/10 is the standard and should be every book. Wild

I’d say sometimes, he has a high out point and not all of his material lands

He'd be quicker but he's about to announce secret projects 7-24.

That tracks. Fantasy readers know his output speed is higher than Stephen King amped by cocaine. Every time Sanderson turns around he's got something new.

Bro's work ethic is unmatched. Sometimes I wonder if it is negatively affecting his health tho. Love his works however.

Too bad no one's going to see it, what with it being on apple TV and all.

Yeah, because who the hell ever heard of Severance, Shrinking, Ted Lasso, Pluribus, Silo, My Friends and Neighbours, Slow Horses etc

Apple TV is a veritable smorgasbord of good shows.

On top of that, it will likely have a theatrical release, just like Project Hail Mary.

Too bad for them. I'll just continue enjoying all the quality content all by myself

It’s going to theatres actually

Wonder if they'll go woke

ILiveInAColdCave 6 days ago +13
So you haven't read them?

Let me guess. When you read Stormlight Archive, you’re going to think the characters are white.

Oh so you haven't ready any Mistborn, got it

Don’t worry Sanderson will act like he is woke while giving money to the Mormon Church
