Trump is winning for the whole world. Everybody will go broke to put gas in their cars.

Olangotang Mar 19, 2026 +22
Trump's final bankruptcy will be the whole world. We should have kept the wealthy's power in check. The money really does turn people into mentally ill morons.

No more like the "west". Whole lot of people live with the next to nothing compared to the west. They will be "fine"

They’ll still need oil or oil-based products for applications besides fuel of vehicles. Oil is way more important for modern life than people realise. There aren’t many viable replacements for a lot of the oil-based products.
17
BlueShrub Mar 19, 2026 +27
Oil based products are important but the demand for them for this purpose is _minuscule_ compared to its use for energy. Shift away from oil for energy and the oil price would drop like a boulder.
27
radil Mar 19, 2026 +8
Further, these things are c**** because their raw materials are generally byproducts of petroleum distillation that cannot be used for energy, at least at any scale that’s economical. So there is a glut in supply that downstream oil processors need to offload so that they can continue to produce lower molecular weight petroleum products.

21Rollie Mar 19, 2026 +2
Yep, that’s part of why recycled plastic is hard to justify to companies. Worse quality than virgin plastic, but more importantly, while recycled plastic is c****, virgin plastic is nearly free. Making oil expensive is bad short term, but long term it advances us towards a better future, which ironically Trump is against.
2
ProtoplanetaryNebula Mar 19, 2026 +9
Funny you should say that. China just released it's next 5 year plan. A big mention was made to converting coal to feedstocks to make chemicals such as plastics to reduce dependency on imported oil.
9
Fresh_Boysenberry576 Mar 19, 2026 +5
There aren't many viable replacements because we do not include the costs of the negative externalities from the oil use in the product's price. In other words, oil has been too artificially c****. More expensive oil will make replacement products more economically viable. Of course this is not the way to go about things but we should have been taxing oil and oil products more to compensate for their negative impact and to subsidize replacement products (or the research into replacement products)

Loggerdon Mar 19, 2026 -5
Only about 18% of Chinas energy needs are met by alternative fuels. Don’t believe the hype. Coal is the backbone of Chinas energy with 56% of their energy needs met by f****** coal (US is 14%). They are the biggest consumers of coal in the world. China is building 6X the new coal plants in the world right now than the rest of the world combined.

do I 'like' all the 'ayatollahs' and their ilk being removed in the most painful way possible...? well, 'like' is a strong word, but I think it is 1 millionth % of what they deserve after what they did to the Iranians... do I 'like' taco's war and his involvment in the area along with his best buddy? not in the slightest, many thanks for 'winning' for all of us...but most of Europe would like to be left out of this mess...I'm pretty sure you can keep on 'winning' on your own...and reap all the benefits I also don't think this is doing any services to the Iranian people either...if anyone thinks helping the locals in the slightest was even at number 47 on taco's agenda, I do have a bridge for sale...
21
ClawingDevil Mar 19, 2026 +14
To be fair, the reports say he is helping a lot of Iranian civilians be freed... ... ...from their bodies.

The road to $200 is wide open. One only needs the unleashed stupidity of Trump to realize it.

iapetus_z Mar 19, 2026 +18
Top oil price was $147 in 2008. Today that's worth $222...
18
MadRaymer Mar 19, 2026 +10
At least the economy weathered that fine in 2008. No once-in-a-generation crisis or anything, right?

Thanks America. Oh and also thanks for the inevitable refugee crisis you'll leave us to handle while you dust off your hands and f*** off back home as usual. How about taking responsibility for the millions of people whose lives you ruin with your warmongering? Yes I'm pissed off and tired.
21
Special-Artichoke373 Mar 19, 2026 +18
This is literally what Trump wanted. Chaos in global energy markets means the U.S. can sell its LNG to Europe at double the price. “Energy independence” suddenly looks a lot like “premium pricing.”
18
iwantanxboxplease Mar 19, 2026 +2
I think you are giving too much credit to him and his administration. It's my humble opinion that the war with Iran started as a distraction from the Epstein scandal, and it seems to be working. The amount of time and energy to handle shit is limited, so what do they do, flood the system with shit after shit after shit.
2
DuneRealEstate1833 Mar 19, 2026 +60
We're all poorer thanks to Epstein, Trump and Israeli psyops. Great.

Well you guys shouldn't have elected a known fascist, rapist and convicted criminal to run your country. This is on all of the Americans who voted for him.

Trump's doll analogy used on fuel. Maybe instead of 30 gallons of gas you will have 2 gallons of gas
10
HereInTheCut Mar 19, 2026 +8
The lunatic that started all this never had to pump gas a day in his life, so why would he care?
8
NorysStorys Mar 19, 2026 +17
Pretty sure it’s the US that needs regime change at this point. Iran only fucked with the Israelis directly whereas the Americans are impoverishing people on every corner of the globe with this utterly pointless vanity war.
17
snoogins355 Mar 19, 2026 +3
It would end the war
3
progrethth Mar 19, 2026 +3
I think that is a bit too nice to Iran. They also fucked with Iraq, Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and the Palestinians. But this war is stupid and will only make the world a worse place.
3
NorysStorys Mar 19, 2026 +1
I meant mostly in the last 20 years or so. Yemen is vaguer because that’s in a sense a Saudi-Iranian proxy war but is more complicated than that. Lebanon is more fucked with by Israel more than anyone else. Syria is a mess because of the civil war, which ironically the Iranians were as anti-Isis as everyone else, they just supported Assad whereas the west didn’t and well, Iraqs a mess not because of the Iranians but once again the west.

Next time you say "I'm tired of hearing about American politics, it has nothing to do with me"
4
Nyxot Mar 19, 2026 +3
Why are we not sanctioning the US for this anyway? We are getting increased gas prices for their dumb war and it doesn't seem things will get better any soon, just make them pay something already.
3
adcap1 Mar 19, 2026 +3
This is super serious for Europe - and I'm not sure if politicians across the EU understand the severity of this. I guess they still believe everything will be over in a few days. EU will need to protect its interests, one way or another. In geopolitics, there are no friends, only interests.
3
Hay_Fever_at_3_AM Mar 19, 2026 +8
Thanks a lot for this, America. Never learn a single lesson, what is history for anyways?

All I see is a school yard worth of countries watching trump pick 1v1 fights and everyone else watches and revels in our suffering.
2
NoctunaNectarine808 Mar 19, 2026 +2
I love how Europe's solution to this is not stopping Israel and America from bombing populated cities but condemning Iran for not wanting to be wiped out.
2
AverageGuy16 Mar 19, 2026 +2
I’m f****** tired of this shit man, we shouldn’t even be in this war, this is all so pointless.

Welp, electric cars are looking good, again.
3
man_eat_man Mar 19, 2026 +1
To Netanyahu, Trump, and the Iranian regime, it's about strategies of winning, and to everyone else, it's about paying the price.

Imagine literally not getting your gas from Texas. Wake me up when this affects real people in any way.
