Just another "savior" that my idiot compatriots will vote in. We have a history of doing the same thing over and over and over again.

Either you are trolling or you are vastly overestimating the power of the EU to intervene in the internal politics of member states.

No love for Russia, but that’s not how it works or is supposed to work.

If we even are able to form a government. Even if there's a government, it is going to be some bananas coalition.

How? Explain EXACTLY how.

You saw what Hungary did. Pay attention. I honestly have no clue how anyone could be pro-Russian these days, aside from Trump, who is clearly compromised, and a moron.

It's corruption, making serious amounts of personal wealth and living out your delusions of power.

Money. A lot of money. Russians will pay a lot for an opportunity to block/veto something in EU. And for politicians in smaller countries that could be the only way to earn a lot.

One country fixes shit and 3 others decide it's great to back russia for some dumb reason.

bulgaria has a looooong history of that pro russian agenda

And that’s why Serbia should not never be member of the EU. We have enough countries with Stockholm syndrome, we don’t need more who are openly aligned with russia.

Bulgaria is in a political crisis since 2021. There hasnt been a single government that lasted its full term. It has been a cycle of elections, some makeshift coalitions that fall apart, no confidence vote, schedule of new election. We have had 8 elections since 2021

That 2024 scandal did a pretty big shift

In this case? USSR nostalgia + some shared history with the Russo-Turkic wars being propagandized all throught k12 education that "uwu brother Russia singlehandedly saved the Bulgarians from the evil Ottomans and we should be eternally grateful" (and therefore eternally bootlick them). Of course completely glazing over the times "brother Russia" was acting against BG's interests.

we'll see. He may start out so strong that he ties his own hands with term limits and such.

There's no new president in Hungary. There will be a new PM. Maybe you don't know what you're talking about.

Can’t we stop this madness somehow? It just seems like there can never be peace. There is always evil lurking.

Only by reducing society wide corruption

I mean that was kind of expected with eastern european countries in the EU

If you think popular pro-Russian politicians are only a problem in Eastern Europe, then allow me to introduce you to France's Marin LePen, America's Trump, and every high ranking member of Germany's AfD.

Matteo Salvini, Vannacci and Giuseppe Conte in Italy (and many others)

Austria also has its share. Putin has spread a lot of money around political circles during the course of Russia's hybrid war on the West.

We could stop voting and democracy. No point in it if a candidate with our views doesn't win

The main evil of the world is the USA, not Russia, and sadly we all know thats true.

Cut one head, another grows. We need to be more proactive in taking care of our internal affairs.

It's ironic that a few years ago Western Europeans were portrayed as naive idiots who fell for Russia's scheme, while Eastern Europeans were highlighted as the positive counter-example. It seems many of these people are just as stupid as we are.
1
microworry 8 hr ago +1
The Russian propaganda machine just didn’t focus as many efforts on Eastern Europe back then.
1
Decent_Rope7638 8 hr ago +1
You're probably right. However, the fact that they changed to be pro-Russian after the war began and despite their experience with Soviet Russia, is actually even worse than the long-standing positive view of Russia held by some Western Europeans who are far removed from Russia and have no experience with it.

He isn’t pro-RU though, he just isn’t pro-Brussels to death. Media has to stop picturing everyone as black or white (btw I’m not saying vote for him, I think that whether he truly is good or bad won’t make a single difference in how this country’s politics work i.e., corrupted to the bone)

Didn't he say Crimea is Russian?
