The Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) is a political organization of local police officials in the United States who contend that federal and state government authorities are subordinate to the local authority of county sheriffs and police. Self-described constitutional sheriffs assert that they are the supreme legal authority with the power and duty to defy or disregard laws they regard as unconstitutional.[2][3] They and their supporters may refer to themselves as "sovereign sheriffs".[4] The word "sovereign" means a supreme ruler with permanent authority over a nation or other governmental unit.[1] The movement is related to previous nullification and interposition notions,[1] and promotes such efforts.[5] It has been described as far-right by the Southern Poverty Law Center.[6]

We have one in here in Washington (Pierce County). He threatened our state legislators when they were debating a law against law enforcement wearing masks.
>”My deputies don’t wear masks, but once you pass this law that they can’t, I would not only allow them, but I would encourage them to do so just to see what you do,” he said.
>”I don’t recognize your authority to impose these controls over me and when you try to remove me from office, thousands of Pierce County residents will surround the County-City Building in downtown Tacoma and will not allow that to happen,” he continued. “I hope it doesn’t come to that, but I, and they, are prepared. Are you prepared?”
They responded by passing a bill that allows them to remove sheriffs for misconduct.

On one hand I want to know what reading of the constitution they use to get that result. But on the other hand I actually don't think I want to sit through that.

Something tells me it's really more like an anti-constitutional movement
