I saw it back in 2015-ish. It's a pretty interesting concept. I enjoyed it, even with my limited knowledge of The Simpsons (never really watched it). My parents were thoroughly confused though. It would probably help to know that episode, though.

It's good that Juliette Lewis just looks really young but was an adult or at least close to it in Cape Fear. I found this out after Tarantino made her (character) ask his character to "eat her p****" in From Dusk Till Dawn. When she was playing a character who was underaged.

De Niro paid his dentist to shave his teeth to have a more unsettling smile, and transformed to into the image of a hardened convict with brutal workouts with barely any carbs to stay lean.

Yeah, I’d like to be surprised, by DeNiro is despicable *and* believable in that movie. Braden looks like a character (the blue contacts are a bit much), which might detract from the *realness* of it. Don’t get me wrong, DeNiro’s Max was outlandish, but he sold it. It will be interesting to see if Braden sticks the landing too.

I am still traumatized by Patrick Wilson’s role in the movie Hard Candy and honestly I still do not like him. In the 90s I saw the remake of Cape Fear with Robert De Niro, directed by Martin Scorsese, and it was pretty damn good. Robert Mitchum was still alive and had a small role in the film, which was cool considering he was in the original back in the 60s. I guess this new film makes it the 3rd version of Cape Fear? Jesus dudes. That doesn't happen often, lol.
There is a scene in the 1991 remake of Cape Fear with Juliette Lewis and De Niro, on the stage, I think it was, on a set of a play and it's still one of the most creepy fckn scenes ever.

With so much talent involved (Spielberg, Scorsese, many great actors), I don't think this looks very good at all given the names involved. Take away the title "Cape Fear" and all those names and it looks like a c**** Netflix thriller of the week. Was expecting better visual imagery at least.

I don't have problems with adaptations. I have an issue with readaptations for little reason, Cape Fear was done and done extremely well already, don't see the need to have it again.
you can adapt from a novel, an unmade screenplay, many other valid reasons for adaptation.
And yup, I've only seen 3 movies. You got me

If you are aware of movies like Bugonia and Strange Darling, there's next to no chance you're not aware of other original movies coming out of Hollywood every single year. I don’t understand the remake. DeNiro’s version is still very good and watchable.

There are many 10 episode tv series that should be 2 hour movies, and almost no 2 hour movies that should be 10 episode series. Would love to be pleasantly surprised, and I’m sure the performances will be entertaining, but I’m expecting a lot of unnecessary filler.

Looks pretty good but why did it need to be a series?

Note to stalkers. Don't stalk a family partially composed of a 6ft 4 athletic person

The remake no one asked for.

Looks solid but how can you beat the original? I mean Robert Mitchum and Gregory Peck - we don't have icons like that anymore.

I didn't downvote you but I will say, one thing I like about the Scorsese version is that the family has its own secrets (De Niro plays a psycho, but at least you understand why he's so pissed off at Nolte), so it added a layer of complexity there.
Whereas in the Gregory Peck 60s version, the family was very clean cut. That one, it was more like a mountain lion preying on a family of innocent deer and not much more.

John D. MacDonald has so many more novels that would make great movies. I can’t understand why this one gets so much traction.

Cape fear would be a good name for a superhero horror movie

June 5 is kind of the worst possible release date from an Emmys POV, which is odd with this cast.
Anyway, they've obviously spent the money, so this could be good. The Bowden wife being in on the transgression against Cady really changes the dynamics but it might be for the best to get a tv series out of the plot.

Remakes are part of the Hollywood system since the beginning. And some people probably said the same thing about the Scorcese remake in the 90s

Reminds me of Perdita Durango where Javier plays a similar character.

I really have no desire to see this. I saw the DeNiro version. I know the story. I'm not watching it again but stretched out over 10 episodes. No thank you.
